Took a friend out to dinner and he suggested I try this (unknown to me) Thai Restaurant. I love Thai and other southeast Asian cuisines but I'm always anxious about trying new venues out of a fear of disappointment. Well, not here. I ordered the Sweet Basil Chicken with brown rice. We shared a delicious sweet ginger tea and later capped off the meal with a fried banana and coconut ice cream. Truly an excellent dining experience. The service was efficient, polite, and kind. We went on a Mon afternoon just when they opened for dinner. We placed our order and food came out. We were then notified that they ran out of white rice. We were scratching our heads -- how can an Asian restaurant run out of white rice just when it opened for dinner? Looks like poor planning in the restaurant's part. The food was ok but having white rice with our food would have been better. We were offered brown rice but it wasn't the same. And since they ran out of white rice, they couldn't fulfill our combo fried rice order. Will we try this place again? We'll probably call first to see if they have white rice. read more

I find this to be such a lazy way to serve tofu. The curry itself was average. 4/10 wouldn't order it again even with a different protein. Menu Fan is my local neighborhood thai restaurant. I solely order take out. My normal order is red or pa-nang curry, drunken noodles and Tom Yum Goong. This place is sometimes a miss, lacking flavor but it is well priced and close to my house so I keep ordering. My last order of Red curry with chicken and drunken noodles with pork was very tasty. While visiting our daughter, we decided to try a Thai place. Meun Fan hit the spot. We ordered Fried Shrimp Roll, Drunken Noodles with tofu, Beef Fried Rice and Broccoli Beef with white rice. The shrimp rolls had a thick, bubbly fried wonton wrapper which was okay, I prefer the regular thin fried wrapper, but it was still good. Grabbed take out from Meun Fan. Ordered drunken noodles, curry fried rice and fresh spring rolls. The mild had a nice light spice with a generous side of chili sauce so we could add spice as needed. The fresh spring rolls were simple (lettuce, herbs, cucumber, carrot), but very tastey and came with a delicious vinagrette for dipping. Our order was delayed a little, but the staff communicated that to us and were very friendly. They were rather busy in the restaurant for a weeknight and I think they were a little slammed with take out as well. Amazingly fresh and delicious Thai food. The vegetables are crisp and properly cleaned. You can tell they take great pride in only selecting the finest ingredients for their food. While seated there were about 9 takeout orders, each seemingly excited by their pickup. The owner is very nice. My five year old son discovered this gem and we will certainly be back. Okay y'all. This is my go to place for Thai food and yes there was a slightly rude off putting comment via another Yelp review for this place but let me tell you. This place rocks and the staff is super friendly. Also, to answer the dumb assumption of the same review, I asked them what Meun Fan mean and they said it means "To Dream" so just cause you go to their country 4-5 times a year or whatever you know what the heck their language translate to. I've been coming here for YEARS and it's the best hidden gem and they have a Goleta location too. They offer sit down dining indoors and the staff wears masks. They do lots of to go orders rather than dine in since everyone's still kind of on the fence due to the restrictions just being lifted. Food came out so easy, quick and hot. Let me rephrase what hot means. Like fresh out the kitchen HOT which is the best kind of food. I got the Spicy Basil Eggplant dish with tofu but I omitted the spicy cause your girl cannot tolerate spice and the Cucumber Salad. My friends got Chicken Basil, Egg Rolls and Pad Thai which were both delicious! Thai Tea is a classic and two beers (preferred the Singha beer). This place is just so disappointing. The only decent thing on the menu that I've had is the Tom yung goong soup. Even in this dish there are too many mushrooms and not enough spices and vegetables to make this as it should be. All the curries display low effort because the taste is just so bland. As one other reviewer noted, the tofu protein option is just raw SOFT tofu cubes cut up and thrown into the dish. If this place wasn't occupying a prime real estate location in the Mesa it wouldn't survive. read more

We were very happy to find they are open on Christmas! I love their drunken noodles, yellow curry, and Tom ka soup. The prices are affordable and the service is very friendly. Unfortunately they do not have papaya salad or mango with sticky rice on the menu, but this may be a seasonal option. The Thai Tea is very good. Not too sweet, good flavor. This is the best Thai restaurant in Santa Barbara, no questions asked, mic drop, review over.. Just kidding, I can't leave you hanging like that! But quite seriously, I've been exploring Thai food options all over the county for years and Menu Fan has never been beat. The quality, quantity, flavoring, and meal variety blow other places out of the water. They have options for GF and Vegan eaters too. While I almost always order take out so I can stuff my face and not by judged, the in-house environment here is actually semi-romantic and the table service I experienced was above average. It was a little slower than most but if you're on a date or spending time with friends and family, it's not noticeable at all, and actually quite enjoyable when the wait staff are not asking you questions every 10 seconds. Any who, my method of madness is calling in an order for pick up and sharing it with a friend, my boyfriend, or splitting it into a couple meals for myself for the week. The portions are very big and I would recommend sharing. My favorite order is the Sizzling Platter with chicken and no peanut sauce. Though I've also enjoyed yellow and red curry dishes. The parking lot is very tiny so if you are dinning in house during a popular eating time be ready to explore other options either on the street or in the Lazy Acres lot. It's never been that hard for me to find a space as the Mesa is pretty secluded from the downtown madness. Indoor seating available (covid guidelines are in set of course) started off with drinks lemonade for the kids and thai tea for us (strong and refreshing). Husband ordered combination fried rice mild and I went with beef drunken noodles, the kids did spinach soup. The food was good definitely recommend if you are I'm the area. Honestly the service was fast and super friendly. Best boba I've had in Santa Barbara, and way better than anywhere I tried in Ventura county. They were more than happy to make my pad Thai spicy, which I've found is actually hard to find in an actual Thai restaurant. I like the food but the rest is a bit quirky. Parking can be a problem with Lazy Acers providing overflow While the food is good, there's very little embeance. It looks like a strip center eatery but at least there's beer and wine. Red curry with chicken $9.95. Not on the lunch specials @ $8.95. Odd that I was charged $10.95. Looked again and the menu was clearly marked at $9.95 for all curries and $2 up charge for shrimp. Where did the buck come from? Asked for brown rice and the waiter came back a few minutes later and confirmed I wanted white rice. It's only him on the floor servicing 15 people (about 1/3 full) so maybe he's in the weeds. Friendly service bit a little scatter brained. I'll be back but it will be tough to try dinner here. Solid lunch destination. read more
