Our Kitchen Project: (Just Completed)…read more My wife and I had been wanting to have our kitchen remodeled for several months. When it finally came time to do it, we started going through the process of trying to find the right contractor for the project. We spent several weeks researching until we came across Yorklyn Construction. Once we met Ben, we felt like the search was over. The advice, detailed thought he put into our plans brought a sense of comfort to us. The quotes were fair and where we hoped they would be. Starting with Ben, our experience fanned out to the rest of folks working for Yorklyn. Tom, who managed our project, was absolutely in touch with our thoughts as the project transitioned from demo to the "rebuild". He did a better job of "detail nitpicking" than I could have. From the beginning they stated it clearly, "we want it done right for you." They certainly lived up to that and exceeded it. The carpentry work with the cabinets they constructed all the way down to the floor thresholds / transitions were perfect, and I mean perfect. I'm sure a lot of contractors hold similar standards, but where Yorklyn pulls ahead is with how they treat your property, residence and your family. You become a bit more than a customer. If you are looking at having some work done, I hope you give these folks a look. I'm sure you will end up where my wife and I are. (Incredibly happy customers!)

To Whom This May Concern:…read more Typically, we are not people that post reviews. Oh, if we really don't like something we have been known to speak up directly to the company. We have to have very strong feelings to post in a public forum. After all, saying something about a person's lively hood should not be taken lightly. Often people are quick to criticize and slow to praise. We would like to change that. We have a house that was in need of updates and repairs. We also where in desperate need of storage. We invited several companies to come by and tell us what they thought and to give us a bid. Two companies that came by and told us the project was too big for them and no bid the project. Finally, it came down to two companies from the area, Yorklyn Construction being one. Yorklyn shot straight with us. They told us the truth, not what they thought we wanted to hear. The bids came in pretty close but Yorklyn impressed us with their candor and professionalism which gave us confidence that once they agreed to something they would meet their commitments. We were told that the process would be long (several months) and that we would basically be living in a construction site. Like I stated, they shot straight with us and it was a big project. Side note, they did everything they could to minimize any discomfort and were respectful that this was our home. We did have hiccup's but Yorklyn's staff and the sub-contractors where great. In a project this size there are hundreds of small decisions, but I can honestly say that everyone involved looked out for our best interests. If they thought we were making a wrong choice, they spoke up. For example, we chose the color of grout for the shower in a showroom. The tile guy put in the tile but thought we made a mistake with the color of the grout. He didn't just go and let us make a mistake. Instead he spoke up and brought it to our attention. He and the project manager discussed it with us and made suggestions that we elected to follow and are happier for that decision. We had a similar experience with their painter. Trust me things look different in a sample catalog or a showroom than in your house. I also wanted to say that their carpenters are great and their cabinet guy is amazing, very skilled and exact, a true craftsman. Our cabinets are just wonderful. We can also tell you that on the rare occasion that we did express displeasure, they made it right and when a problem was our fault, they were fair. Several of the Yorklyn staff and sub-contractors feel like friends. We have very warm feelings for these people. We have grown to trust them. Not only would we recommend them, we will call upon them in the future when we need skilled professional trades people. Often in business "quality "is defined as meeting or exceeding a customer's expectations, in our book, Yorklyn's work and the people that make up this company are the definition of quality. Of the four contractors contacted, Wesly responded quickly and was at our house the next day asking all the right questions. we also discussed two other projects, more in just passing, but interested in what she would come back with. Within a day, she came back with a series of quotes, one for the stair job we needed, which was very reasonable and for a design that worked very well. Her team showed up the next day and were efficient and very detailed. Our three step project was done in a day and looked great! Although we told Wesly the price on the other patio resurface project was a bit more than we were ready to take on, didn't stop her from finding another option that cut the cost using a ceramic tile that offered better wear, more color options and a design that better matched our house. We could afford that! We were also able to redo a ghastly concrete step from our den that a prior owner bought at Home Depot and dumped in place. Wasn't to code either. The Team was back out and did a marvelous job! They were there three days, morning to late evening getting the job done. The result updated the back of our house, the slate and brick step off the den was to code and the patio was comfortable to walk on and made my wife's patio set look really good. Short story: J & J Quality was a real find and we are already talking about another project! if you need a job done right and for a good price, give Wesly and Team a call.

Our house was built in 2001 and over all of these years it seem as thou the house is gradually being rebuilt because of having to redo half done work. For example snow was getting into the fire place, secodary to the wrong cap on the outside however, when the fire place insert was remove the cavity had not been dry wall and there was just insulation and wire s hanging. The bathroom vent was never vented to the outside and the vent was just tucked under insulation. When the vent was on for at least 10mi it set off the carbon monoxide sensors off. Every time we have work done of any kind the question is the same was the builder who provided no supervision to his subs and they got away with half doing things.

Despite the nationwide delays, they were able to complete our home within the expected timeframe. They are meticulous with detail and were able to handle all the emotions that come with building a home. Tony was involved throughout every step and was there to support us and answer all our questions. They have a wonderful team. Everyone was friendly - from the person who answered the phones - to the contractors working inside our home. The company is very ethical - they will do whatever they can. This was a very big, important part of our decision to have Bonton design and build our home, and they surpassed our expectations. Air condition needed repairs after it was struck by lightning…read more The tech did a great job July 1, 2025 and the office was responsive up until I made the payment on my credit card that same day it was repaired. I originally todo the tech I didnt need a receipt but decided I was going to submit yo my insurance company. The company ghosted me. After about 10 calls and 5 emails and also contacting through the website, I still have gotten a response. well they did send me an email with a line that said service call and $0 on it. I needed them to list the products that were replaced with the total. They can put paid and $0 owed if they want. all of this and it's 3 weeks later. i even drove to the address on their website and it's a corner lot with no building. The open 24 hrs a day is an answering service that you will never be able to speak with someone that can help you. They said they would label it as urgent. Even that doesn't help.

The fireplace insert is in a huge stone fireplace and it puts out enough hot air to keep the whole place toasty. The old gas fireplace stove had been running sporadically. Mike came out to do a regular cleaning/service/safety check. He took the whole stove apart, cleaned all the parts and put em back together. This took over 2 hours and was included in the basic annual service charge. He even vacuumed the exterior of the fireplace, stove and hearth - that really please my wife. The company is straightforward and Mike has to be the best chiminey sweep ever.Thanks for taking the time to do a thorough job. TIP: They work Saturdays!

And, more importantly, very little information concerning chimney condition and integrity of interior lining. Received proposal to Replace chimney Crown, Flashing, power wash and seal bricks. Estimated at a little over $4,000. The Technician that came to my home was polite and professional. I did watch as they worked -- cleaning fireplace, did not see them inspect interior of Chimney. Technician also showed me random photos from internet of Chimney stack (above roof) tops to explain issues with "crown" but did not show me pictures of my chimney. Then he went to truck and returned with tablet (ipad?) to have me sign and pay inspection bill. Said I would receive inspection report and a proposal for recommended work via e-mail. Did receive them. No contemplating recommendation -- proposed work.

S A Way Plumbing and Heating charged $95 hour. You do the math!

Buyer Beware. I had a couple plumbing issues pop up, nothing too major. I went online to find a…read moreplumber, figured I'd look small & local. I asked for a quote from Snyder's, they came back with $650-$750, which to me was a bit high, but I figured $750 was worst case scenario. Longer story shorter, I got invoiced for $983. "If it's going to cost more, we'll let you know beforehand". That never happened. I contacted another contractor who said there's no way that job should have cost as much as I was invoiced. Now they did have to come back a second time because my out-of-the-box pump failed and needed to be replaced. Ok, I get that, 2nd trip needed, but an original 2-3 hour job, I got billed 4.5 hrs. Ok, I can let that go because of the 2nd trip. But where I took issue was the materials charge. I looked at the parts list and decided to check prices thru Home Depot & Lowes. It added up to right around $150. I got charged $465 for materials. Now if my price is $150 from a big box store, what do you think Snyder's is getting charged as an in-industry business who bought from a supply house? So their markup is over 300%? That's BS. Plus I was charged for 2 10' pcs of pipe where they only needed 1'. Think they threw the other 9' away? So I called them on these prices, got a response (eventually), and here we are. I paid their bill, but it doesn't mean I'm not going to speak caution for the next unsuspecting person looking for plumbing services. While their face-to-face interactions were fine, it's the business practices and after-the-fact pricing that has me writing this negative review. Save me the do-it-yourself diatribe, there was no way that was a $983 job. There's reasonableness, and then there's price gouging. You decided to go for the money, so you got your money, but I'll be sure to let people know to look elsewhere. Reputations and word-of-mouth still mean something in a small town.
