She is so sweet and patient with my kids and always willing to find ways to encourage their learning styles and musical tastes. I highly recommend Piano Possibilities to anyone looking for a qualified teacher with a passion for music.

This is a tricky instrument, but I had taken music lessons for much of my life and wanted to really master this one. As an adult there is nothing more frustrating than a music teacher giving you 'Mary Had a Little Lamb' to practice! I showed up with a Chopin piece at my first lesson and rather than tell me I couldn't play that, she said, 'let's give it a go!' Lani treated me as an adult from the beginning, with adult iinterests. She has always pushed me beyond my abitliy and made piano fun at the same time. When things got a bit frustratiing she sensed the need for a change and a different piece of music was introduced, yet we always came back to the frustrating music at a later date, and as a result I Ihave some wonderful pieces in my repertoire. Lani is the one of the kindest people I know and her love for the instrument is palpable. It's fun watching her nerd out on piano theory and making theory fun for students as well! But piano is not only about the music. Piano is about getting to know yourself, experiencing the frustration together with someone you can trust to keep your best interests at heart. I have grown as a person through the years of piano lessons, and I do believe a great teacher will help one grow. Seeing her students go on to study music in college may be the biggest compliment one can give to Lani as a music teacher. She instills in you the love of the instrument, the deisre to practice more to become a better player. I have watched the younger students grow up in front of me through the years as we played together in group classes. But music is not just for the young. I hear so many adults say they wished they could play piano. I started in my late 40's with Lani. You can too. And if you are looking for a great instructor to guide you through the process, I can't think of anyone better than Lani Elston at Piano Possibilites.

Prof. Protich is an exceptional classical piano teacher. She teaches not just from her knowledge of…read moremusic and theory, but more importantly from her actual experience of performing music as a concert pianist. She teaches with patience, kindness, and with infectious passion. My daughter has been a student for 4 years now and I have seen her gain in confidence, understanding and appreciation of the music, and ability to play more and more challenging music. She plays Bach, Beethoven, Czerny, and Prokofiev. Prof. Protich teaches, as I've observed in 3 stages. 1st stage would be to learn the text, reading the notes, learning the correct fingering. Next stage is mastery -- fixing the notes, timing, and correct fingering by sight and hand memory. Last stage is expression. Prof. Protich doesn't end at teaching the notes and speed. Her end goal is for the student to play beautiful music and play the classical piece with understanding of the composer's intent. At this stage, she teaches the student the correct phrasing, the various ways of touching the keys to produce the beautiful sound and the colorful expression. Prof. Protich will not only explain, but also patiently demonstrate the right technical and expressive way to play the music. Prior to teaching in the US, Prof. Protich has taught in Europe and Asia, conducting master classes in prestigious universities, and performing in various concert halls, including the Carnegie Concert Hall. We accept students of various age groups: younger children in the beginning of their musical journey, a bit older and more advanced students preparing for undergrad or grad school admissions, and accomplished young pianists who are seeking to improve their skills, and expand their repertoires. We also work with musicians playing other instruments (such as violinists, flutists, clarinetists, cellists, etc.) or with opera singers, performing various types of chamber music. We have an extensive library of piano and chamber music score, enabling us to provide all the necessary information and content to our students.
