Food was great. Service was ok, not the best and atmosphere was peaceful. I still recommend this place.

I have been coming here for years now. The food has been consistently good throughout the years. The service used to be very good, but recently I have noticed it's just okay. I see servers with their AirPods in watching videos or calling people, not really checking in. I had to call the server over each time if I wanted to order something which is not how it usually goes at other places. The owner or manager is very nice. Overall nice place, service has gone down recently, but the food has remained good. Also always enjoy looking in the fish tank when entering.

Hot day, don't feel like cooking . . . YU SHANG!! Had a lot of food ordered, so stay with us as we work through it all! First, the soups - ordered: a Seaweed Egg Flower soup, and a Wonton (not Wor wonton) soup - large servings for only $9.95 Enough for 3 large bowls each. For the main dishes, ordered: an Eggplant Garlic with extra sauce on the side, Beef Chow Mein, Combination Fried Rice, and Mushu Chicken. All the items arrived home after a 15 minute drive still VERY hot! Especially the soups - oy! But hot soups on a hot day was perfect. The soups were both very delicious. The Seaweed Egg Flower is a favorite, and the Wonton soup was tasty as well, and had loads of vegetables in it - not just the dumplings. Almost a meal in and of itself. The Eggplant Garlic also had lots of "extra" vegetables. I have had the Eggplant Garlic from another favorite restaurant (shhhh . . . ) and theirs is just eggplant - I kind of like the extra vegetables more, adds extra taste and texture. Served over rice, the sauce was enough but I like it extra moist so I asked for extra sauce on the side. I learned to get extra "just in case" as I have had orders from here with not much sauce, at least not enough for serving over rice. And speaking of rice, ordered a side of Jasmine rice and was informed that the Eggplant came with rice (we still ordered a side of rice) but only one rice was in bags, so double check if ordering for takeout. Still, get extra sauce - better safe than sorry - and the sauce does not go to waste! The Combination Fried rice and Beef Chow Mein are very good, not greasy and nice light flavors. And lots of meat in both, with the Combination having chicken, pork and shrimp. Finally, the queen of the ball was the Mushu Chicken. They also have a pork Mushu, but we like to mix it up a bit. May not be on the menu you look at, but ask for it specifically. Lots of flavor, lots of filling and tasty sauce to roll up in the accompanying pancakes. So good! It is hard sometimes to decide which place we like best for Chinese food. However, we have never been disappointed here and the variety of menu items will keep us content for a long time. Although they also offer sushi, we have never even tried any from here yet, as we are still working through the menu and our favorites. Maybe someday - until then, we are happy and big-bellied . . .

That should have been the first red flag. After being seated, we were completely ignored. No placemats, no water, no greeting -- nothing. We had to ask just to be acknowledged so we could order, and even then the staff acted like we were an inconvenience. What made it worse was watching them clear two other tables, seat new families there, and fully set those tables up -- all while we were still sitting there with zero service. It was obvious we were not a priority at all. The only moment anyone looked our way was when we finally got up and walked out -- and not a single person attempted to apologize or stop us. That level of indifference says everything. Absolutely unacceptable service. We will never return.

The flavors were authentic and flavorful without being overly Americanized. The pork curry was absolutely delicious and is definitely a must-order. I also got the tea leaf salad and immediately wished I had ordered the large because you can never have enough tea leaf salad. The palata was a great starter -- flaky, warm, and exactly what you'd want. The miso black cod was another standout. The broth it was simmered in was incredibly flavorful, and the fish was perfectly cooked. The garlic noodles were also done really well with the right noodles and great flavor -- honestly better than some places known specifically for garlic noodles. And of course, the coconut rice is always worth ordering. We skipped dessert since nothing really stood out, but I would love to see them add more traditional Burmese desserts like faluda in the future. Parking wasn't too difficult, especially if you circle around the back neighborhood area. The wait was reasonable, the outdoor patio seating was nice, and the service was attentive throughout the meal. Definitely a spot I'd come back to when craving Burmese food.

Otherwise the food here isn't particularly interesting, and wouldn't have been worth writing about except that on a recent and particularly cold, wet evening I ordered a bowl of my ultimate comfort food, clam chowder. What arrived was such a major departure from the expected I had nowhere else to air the case, so now here we are. What arrived at the table was essentially a kind of thickened clam broth. Not flour & water library paste thick. but with the right pasta would have been an ersatz linguine alle vongole (less actual clams). Or adding potatoes would make it the soup of the day which I've been noticing more often on menus is termed "potato chowder". (about this last I'd like to take issue: how can a thickened potato soup rightly be called a chowder given that in traditional chowder recipes the essential ingredient is in fact potatoes (no? ask google). I figure to a marketing kind of mind calling this bland goo a chowder lends a certain cachet that mere "soup" lacks, for whatever that'$ worth) Where was I? oh yeah, i should add that neither potatoes nor pasta were in this clam soup, but to avoid a claim that the order didn't meet the "clam" description, it did include clams. However the clams were all in shell, half-open and floating or submerged in the broth. Not what I expected and definitely messy to fish them out. And of course, it's a chowder so where were the potatoes? But the clams were fresh and with enough sourdough to add the necessary carb load I decided on this cold wet night not to make an issue of this. So if you didn't complain, well you must have had no complaint... except I did. The bowl of clam chowder I was served looked nothing like the customer photo posted somewhere on your yelp page. I'll just stay with salads.
