Ikoi Sushi is one of the better sushi spots in Marin that I've tried. We ordered via UberEats and all the rolls that we got were very fresh even though we had it delivered. We ordered 3 rolls: spider, tempura, and dragon. The rolls were nicely packaged in one container. Everything was really good! Wasabi and ginger tasted fresh too. My favorite was the tempura roll and my partner really enjoyed the spider roll. We both, however, thought the eel on the dragon roll was a little too fishy for us. Well, it's a good thing that Lou's Takeaway closed early for the night or else we wouldn't have discovered Ikoi Sushi! The honest struggle is finding a good sushi spot in Marin County after being spoiled of having it within arm's reach back home. That being said, Ikoi Sushi is your home away from home. The staff are so friendly, efficient and accommodating. They made room for us when they were busy and were lovely to chat with. My partner's sashimi mini had thick cuts of fish, and his nigiri was no different. While the nigiri menu doesn't have as much variety as other spots, it gets the basics down very well. Everything is very fresh. SABA/MACKEREL: This was a a bit fishy that day and not the best I've had. NEGI HAMA ROLL: Very fresh and thick cut hamachi is balanced by perfectly ripe avocado and a hint of freshness from the scallion. This was my favorite negi hama roll to date. KOI SPECIAL ROLL: The best way to describe this is a Spider Roll and Rainbow Roll had a child called the Koi Special Roll, but topped with crunchy tenkasu tempura crumbs, a mix of your spicy mayo and unagi sauce. This was also a really good roll! TORCHED HOTATE/SCALLOP: The attention to quality here is evident in this nigiri. I love their bento boxes for lunch. I get chicken or salmon teriyaki and mixed tempura (shrimp and vegetables). It's a big portion and it comes with rice, a small salad, and miso soup. The teriyaki is savory and not too sweet and it's not over-dressed with sauce. The tempura is a good mix of carrots, sweet potato, broccoli, etc. as well as one good-sized shrimp. I really love this sushi location as it has a beautiful ambiance and great seating. Everyone here is so welcoming. Their sushi is so fresh and delicious. They have a seafood poki salad which has several raw but fresh fish mixed with a sauce that has slight kick of spice. Highly recommend eating in if possible you won't be disappointed. read more

My niece and I came by for lunch and I have all good things to say about this cute little place. It's small and intimate but don't let that fool you, the food is really good. We ordered miso soup, smoked salmon nigiri and regular salmon nigiri, chicken yachotori(chicken skewers), two orders of California rolls and ramen which me modified to have the soup base and chicken instead of pork. Everything was great down to the amazing service we received from our sweet waiter who was efficient and very kind. I only ordered two small things and it was very disappointing especially for the price. I got the cucumber salad and the spider roll. Cucumber salad was mostly dry and bland with nothing really on it- for 8$ I could have made an entire bowl of that much better at home- the spider roll would have been ok except for that it mostly consisted of rice and cucumber with just a minuscule amount of soft shell crab and avocado so basically I just spent $25 on rice and cucumber. Such a wonderful neighborhood restaurant with good sushi and plenty of parking. I am giving 4 stars because the staff is not friendly with or accommodating to toddlers. There are so many great items on the menu. The best deal on the menu is the lunch special bento box that comes with two main proteins, and miso soup and rice on the side. For appetizers, we love the chicken kara age or the chicken skewers. The octopus dumplings are also decent. Let's not forget the spam musubi - yum! The rest of the menu is comprised of sushi and/or other Japanese staples. The torched salmon nigiri is sooo good! We also love the salmon skin maki or the ika ikura (squid and salmon roe) maki. Other sushi rolls we love are the salmon tempura, geisha (deep fried hamachi), spicy crunchy, and the sunny garden. From the main dinner menu, we enjoy the nebayaki udon noodle soup, salmon teriyaki plate, chicken katsu, or any of the yaki udon. Ikoi is across from Scotty's in Terra Linda, so there is a big parking lot. They have a small indoor dining area that is never full, and they also have a restroom that is outside and next to the restaurant. If you have a toddler, my advice is to order takeout. The staff acts appalled whenever the kid gets up from the table or knocks something over, and they are constantly saying, "No! No!" to 1 and 2 year olds. It feels very judgmental and also out of touch for things that are developmentally appropriate. read more

Returned to Ikoi Sushi for a small birthday dinner. What a gem! The Chicken Katsu was--and I can say this absolutely for sure--literally the BEST I've ever had. I'm a gray-haired senior who grew up in Hawaii and, believe me, I've had a LOT of Chicken Katsu at a LOT of restaurants over the years (yes, it's one of my all-time favorite dishes). I was impressed that in the dinner mini sashimi combo, they included o toro (tuna belly, usually triple the price of regular tuna) instead of regular tuna. I ordered through doordash and it arrived about 30 minutes after ordering. We got chicken yaki udon, katsu Don bowl, spicy crunchy roll, and green tea cheesecake. The katsu Don is delicious and on the sweeter side, but having the radishes offset the sweetness and I've never thought of it before but tasted so delicious together with the katsu. Not to mention the donburi bowl was SO pretty! The yaki udon was good and on the salty side, you can definitely taste the sesame oil on the noodles. I really wanted to like Ikoi sushi as it is very close to the hotel I'm staying at for work. I travel quite frequently and often try ramen/sushi when I do. The good: The service was great, the location was cozy, and it had a nice theme to it. Food came out quickly and at the same time. Prices were very low, like pre covid low! The acceptable: Ramen broth lacked any depth, and the presentation was sub-par. Additions were on the light side, and cut so small they blended together, taking away from the contrast of the ingredients(I know, I know, sushi spot not specializing in ramen). The fish tasted fresh but was very thin, leading to imbalance in the roll. The bad: Egg was HARD boiled, like to the point the yoke was dry, crumbly, and had those sulfury notes to it. The roll was absolutely packed with "crab" and to my surprise, it was very warm. Roll had no balance, and I could not get over the cool fish avocado and rice with a warm crab center. read more
