I thought my massage here was pretty great. The reviews are true about them telling you what you should tip. I overheard other customers being told to tip $20 as they were leaving on a $60 service. When it was my time to pay, I didn't even give them a chance to tell me what I should tip. "$60 for the massage, and here's $15 for you. " This is well over 20%. I'm going to guess that the workers only get paid by tips and the house pockets the massage fee. If you don't mind speaking up and not letting them bully you out of your money, go here. If you have trouble standing up for yourself, either don't go here, or come and let them tell you how to tip, then come complain about it on Yelp. Your choice. read more

The reason for the 1 star is because at the end of the massage I paid and gave the lady that helped me what I thought was a reasonable tip 20%. The lady insisted I gave her more of tip because that wasn't enough. In addition the lady at the front said tip should be 20%. I said it is. But she said no it's not. So I was forced to give more. I live across the street from this place and decided to give it a try as it is one of the most affordable massage parlors around. I called earlier in the week to schedule an appointment at 10am and was waiting along with one other customer ahead of me as no one had shown up yet. Once they opened it took them approximately 10 min to turn on lights and get situated (one of the masseurs was tidying up and sweeping). One of the masseuse's showed me their services menu and I had mentioned that I had an appointment but they still treated me as if I was a walk in. I informed the masseuse that I wanted a 60 min deep tissue and requested a male masseur, of which only one was on staff this morning. The masseuse showed me to my room and told me to undress and the masseur would be right with me. She comes back a couple min (curtain closed and undressed) later asking me for "number payment". I was like, huh, you want payment before the services? Turned out she just wanted my phone number (?). Masseur came in and was totally quiet and not one word out of his mouth (which I appreciated); however, you could still hear talking amongst the other masseuses so it wasn't a tranquil environment. As for the massage itself, the masseur spent about the first 40 min just pawing my back and legs like a cat as well as using his elbow on my shoulder joints and back. He also stood on my back and walked on my legs and shoulders as well (I guess that was the deep tissue part). The remaining time was spent as a swedish style massage on my legs, back, and lower back with some hot stones in the process which was the best part of the massage. He also used an insane amount of massage oil but did clean up with hot towels after. Total price was 72.00 (60.00 for the massage, 2.00 credit card transaction fee, and 10.00 tip). They do accept Zelle and cash which is recommended to avoid the transaction fee. Doesn't seem like a bad deal, but then again, you get what you pay for. I did not care for how he emphasized tipping (they have a recommended amount posted between 10.00-25.00). In summary, if this is your first ever massage give it a shot but definitely do not make it your last and find a massage therapist that you totally love that's worth the price. read more

I had an appointment at another spa. When I got there they told me that the masseuse wasn't available anymore and that I couldn't be helped. I looked on yelp and found this spot with availability on a Sunday afternoon and I couldn't have been more happy. I had some lower back problems from a long flight and I didn't want to go into work like that. This spa isn't anything fancy. They have rows of beds and seats to tend to their customers. This is my go-to massage place! The staff is always super friendly and attentive, they make it a point to always ask me if I'm okay during the massage. I always walk out feeling amazing and it's always better to call ahead. I've seen people complain about the $2 charge for use of debit cards (which is not an unusual thing) and the recommended gratuity, there are signs at the counter when you walk in so it shouldn't really be a surprise. I don't recommend this place. I came here because my favorite foot spa closed. To start off the "sheet" they have you lay under is threadbare and dingy. I honestly felt gross with it on my skin. The massage itself was really bad. I got the combo which is 30 min on the feet then 60 min on the body. For the foot part the actual massage was 20 min and it was mostly the guy pressing down on the top of my feet. We then moved to the other bed where he proceeded to just press on my back. There was no real massage. I had to ask him to stop and get another person. When they changed I specifically told the girl the areas that I wanted worked on. I had to redirect her at least 3 times, and then she finally got it, but even when she worked on the right area it was just a bad massage. Overall I feel like it was a waste of money. read more

I have yet to find that one masseuses that I need to request, however, the 2 friends that come with me have said they have found their person. We were here this past weekend and both my friends could not stop raving about how good their massage was. Their customer service is great too! There is some noise you will hear but that's expected given it's a reflexology place and they're built a certain way. Massage felt good but at the end at checking out, the massage therapist told me I needed to tip more for a $120 for a 2-hour massage. I originally tipped her 20-25% and she complained that wasn't enough and told me higher, so I went a little bit higher and she still complained that wasn't enough. I ended up feeling obligated in tipping her 38% because she kept putting me on the spot to tip her more. I understand it was a 2-hour massage but it was only $120. A friend and I were going to have a late lunch in Long Beach and had both had a pretty stressful week, so we decided to have a massage before beforehand. Thanks to Yelp, we found this local massage place as we were looking for something quick and cheap, not like the fancy Burke Williams and Glen Ivy that we're used to. This place was able to accommodate us with the same day appointment, which was great. The price was right based on what the lady told me when I called to make the appointments when I confirmed the price was accurate from what we saw on Yelp. The place was typical for an inexpensive massage parlor; nothing fancy the bedding was not nice. The towels they used were not soft. No big deal we knew that coming in as the price was according to the atmosphere of this location. The massages were typical of what you would expect from this type of place (the foot massage wasn't good, the lady just basically rubbed the top of my foot until my bones hurt lol nothing really to the soles of my feet which needed the rubbing) the noise level obviously was loud people coming in and talking because the rooms are not closed in it's open at the ceiling and no doors only curtains. Actually, for a second portion of the massage, we were looking into the holes in the ceiling, which was a little weird but no biggie. The reason for the 2 stars is that when we come out of our massages nice and relaxed our 2 Massage therapists are waiting at the end of the hall to greet us and we thought oh this is wonderful and we already had the tips ready in hand to give them cash. As I handed the tip to my therapist, she counted it in front of me and then discussed it with the gentleman who gave my friend her massage and seemed upset. I pay with my card, which was an additional $2, then my friend attempts to pay with her card, and the cashier looks at her and says, "Do you want to add more for the tip?" Mind you, we had already tipped 20% to 25% already in cash. I was a little confused, so I started looking around and on the cashier's window, and they do have several signs about the suggested tips, which was way more than a 25% tip. It was more like our service was $60 total, and they wanted us to tip $20 to $40, which I thought was ridiculous . After the fact,I did read the sign indicating that they have their prices low and that's what their suggested tips are; however I think that should have been verbally communicated in the beginning in case we missed a sign in which we did and also if we decided that that wasn't an option for us we could have went elsewhere. It just seemed very unprofessional and a little rude to have them stand there while we sort out our money and then to put my friend on the spot and request more money in front of them as well, just a little tacky in my opinion. Basically, you bullied her into trying to find additional money to give the therapist. I have a friend who lives in the area and asked us to tell her how it was afterward; however, I won't be recommending this place to anybody because of this tipping policy. I just felt like it was unprofessional and a little on the rude side the way they handled the additional tip. The cashier seemed pleasant up to that point after the therapist discussed the tip in their language; it seemed like she turned cold on us. The bottom line is that I've never heard that tipping 65% of your service to be standard practice. Next time, I'll read more of the reviews, but this was a last-minute decision, so I went based on the overall rating. read more

Cannot believe the experience I had here. First of all, unlike their sign reads, the 60 minute massage is $45 NOT $40... That's not a big deal, but it is confusing when you expect to pay one thing and are demanded to pay more. I wasn't sure if I had enough cash with me, so I asked if I could pay by card so I would be able to tip. Then I was charged $42 and expected to pay $5 cash on top of that, so $47 BEFORE tip. They requested tips come in cash, so I fished out what I could find ($6) and this woman was very confused. She pointed to the "gratuity guidelines" sign and told me it would be a $10 tip for the hour. The massage itself was just okay, so I didn't feel inclined to leave a 25% tip (that's on the LISTED price, not what I paid btw). Two more women came out and they all told me I had to pay the $10 tip before I could leave. And they said the "language barrier" was why the guidelines were written. I asked them why I was being forced to tip that much (I know this makes me sound stingy, but I am usually a generous tipper, when the service is good). They rudely said it was because what they did was "hard work". As a gig worker myself, I understand how important gratuity could be. But you also have to earn it and you sure as hell can't REQUIRE someone to tip a certain amount regardless of the service. If you're going to require someone to tip in cash, you can't get mad if what they tip doesn't reach your arbitrary standards. Especially when the massage was half-assed. Sorry for the long winded story, but I only write it so that others know what they're getting into. Expect to pay more than the advertised price for a subpar massage, and expect to be hard-pressed in tipping whatever amount they tell you to. Will not be coming back. read more

What I didn't expect is the woman to put her weight on my spine instead of my muscle and I now have a bruise/sore on my bone/spine.
