I was hopeful as my excellent regular massage therapist was injured in a car accident so I was looking for something local and affordable. I have heard mixed experienced from locals about Belmont Shore Spa and thought I would at least give it a try because the rates looked very affordable. I originally talked with Diane about a 90-minute deep tissue and at the time 60 was avail for the next day. I booked that for the next day and was told she would send verification to text and it was not received till next day (minor concern). But I got a nervous feel, and I was told many times CASH! That is no problem. Then what seemed like a nice shift.. I was informed Lynn could take me for 90 minutes if I came by right away. And I asked fee and was told $100 cash which is also listed on the website. Great .. easy . I grabbed a $100 and was out the door. Parking was horrible though and I had to walk literally 4 blocks. Upon arriving Diane was friendly and introduced me to Lynn who seemed tense, and non-communicative. I wasn't expecting just curtains and no private rooms which felt mediocre to me but I understand this type of set up is often customary. I undressed and ask Lynn to please use just coconut oil. The massage was incredibly rough and I had to say a few times to go lighter. The experience was horrible.. tense, then she got on top of me and straddled my body digging in. This felt incredibly uncomfortable though I know this is done in some traditions. But it felt unprofessional. To me there is no need to straddle someone on the table. I wondered if this was some Thai sex massage parlor, it made me uncomfortable. When I tried to talk about what I needed and what to do she shushed me for talking. This made me even more uncomfortable- Though some areas of my body did feel looser after the massage. That night I had horrible pain and felt worse. Now I have had massages for over 40 years and NEVER once had this kind of reaction. I still have burning in my shoulder and felt she caused injury. To make matters worse then I went to pay $100 which I was told and she said it was $105. Luckily I had atm which sometimes when paying cash I don't bring ATM. . So felt extremely tacky to atm me for $5. Next I was never asked by Lynn or Dianne if I would like to leave a tip. AND TIPPING IS OPTIONAL!!!!!!!!! Hassling customers for tips is simply unprofessional .. HINT Customers will WANT to tip for exceptional care and service. Before I left I asked some other questions to find Lynn for example is there 9-6 M-F Like seriously? I get it now. This is a sweatshop slumlord style operation where they overwork their massage therapists and probably pay them little. Instead of basic business skills. Then I'm on the Freeway about 15 minutes later and receive a call from Dianne asking where is the tip? Are you serious? How stressful, tacky, unprofessional and just rude. .. Completely unprofessional, miscommunication, misrepresentation on website of fees. SO yes this is one of the cheapest spots in 90803 area code but now I know why. If you want a cheap massage this is your place ===customer beware! I have now talked to two other neighbors that had horrible experiences at this location. This review is on Diane and what I experienced, and the painful and unfriendly massage I had with Lynn. Won't be back, and will tell my friends, to stay away in droves. read more

This is a great place to destress! I have visited this place a couple of times for massages. It's a great deal for an hour and also recommend paying by cash. You get 10 more minutes under the hours of their happy hour. The vibe is very tranquil, clean and welcoming ! I lost at least 10 minutes due to using the restroom, undressing, and waiting for the therapist to enter the room. Depends who you get. My wife loved her massage. Mine was the worst of my life. I would describe it as rushed and jittery. I was scraped by her fingernails a few minutes in which continued. She didn't use enough oil, massages around knotted muscles, and basically squeezed my muscles at such a rapid pace that it made me more tense. I couldn't tell what she was trying to do. After finishing some shopping and recently hurting my back, we were recommended to try this place. We priced a few places, and this was far more reasonable, especially for the area. We called and got an appointment for later in the afternoon; it couldn't have worked out more perfectly. They asked what we wanted them to focus on, and they did. The hot stones, which came with the happy hour special, felt great. After 70 minutes of bliss, I walked out like I was floating on air. The ladies were so sweet and mentioned they've been at this location for over 18 years. How could I have never been here before? That's about to change. Had a "deep tissue" massage with Tom and ended up with hematoma. He kept digging and digging while whimpered in pain. I should have stopped him but I went there to get some relief-I ended up in more pain. I think he may have a sadistic side because he kept laughing as he inflicted pain. If you go to this massage place, don't use Tom and don't ask for a deep tissue massage (unless you're a masochist-then atoms your guy). read more

Well... I went in because I was heavily stressed. The appointment was pre-booked and paid for. I received Tom (man) although requested a woman. He asked regular or deep tissue? I said regular. I want the one paid for. He said deep tissue more better and proceeded... but I said no I don't want that. So in the end I received an additional up charge for something I didn't want plus bruises. It was a nice, clean spa. They had heated beds. My massage. Therapist was an older lady. She didn't really apply as much pressure as I hoped for. It felt more like a rub than a massage. The customer service was great. I'm not sure where the disconnect was, but I was told you would get a discount if you pay in cash, however, this is not the case. Well-priced and felt so good to work out all the knots that 2020 caused. Would 100% recommend this spot and will be returning. Got charged for a deep tissue massage for service with Kim. Basically had someone pat lotion on me for an hour. Told her my leg was hurting, she then proceeded to sit on it while patting my back for 15 minutes straight, even after I reminded her my calf's were hurting. Thought I'd try this place because I used to be a once weekly customer. Clearly, made a good decision to change, way back when. Needless to say, I'm pissed. Paid the fee because it's mostly folks who do not speak English, but will never be returning back. My husband thought it would be cute to come back, it was not. My husband just tried this place tonight and had great massages! I called to see if they had availability for around 7/7:30 and she scheduled us for 7:15. She asked male or female preference and I said no preference, so she said she would give us a discount. We arrived right at 7:15 (parking in Belmont shore can be a challenge), and flagged down the receptionist to check in. My husband was in a room with one wall on the side and 1 curtain, and my room had walls on both sides but they didn't go up to the ceiling and the entry for each of the rooms is just curtains. While it's not great for sound proofing, there's at least privacy. The room decor was simple but nice, there's soothing massage music playing, and when I got into the table, I was pleasantly surprised to discover it was a heated table. I've never experienced that before and it was super nice! The blankets were also soft and cozy, not stale and thin or rough. Teddy gave my massage and although he kept making phlegmy noises (it may be a tick), his pressure was great. He spent a lot of time on my upper back, which was needed. At the end of the massage he told me I was a big girl.... ummm, what?!? Other than that it was a great experience. My husband said Tina gave his massage and he enjoyed his experience as well. When I paid at the end, there was no discount, as offered on the phone, but for $40 each and a $10 tip, we were still pleased with the experience and we'll be back! read more

My SIL booked me a prenatal massage here a couple of weeks ago which I did not even know was a thing and it was so relaxing! The staff here are also the friendliest I've ever encountered at a massage spa. I've never had a prenatal massage before but they made me feel super comfortable and taken care of. Though the massage is definitely different from one that you can get while lying on your stomach, my stiff neck and shoulders finally got the relief they needed after weeks of discomfort. The best part is that the prenatal massage is not any more expensive than a regular massage! From what I heard, prenatal massages can be very pricey, but not here. I'm super thankful for what they offer here. Would for sure recommend for all the mamas out there. read more

Sandy my massage therapist was great, but this one star is for the front desk lady. My massage was $50 and I tipped 20% and the lady asked me to tip more. I believe in tipping 20% or more, but when a business asks customers to tip more than what they tipped is HIGHLY unprofessional. I used to be a bartender and server & dude I would never tell customers to tip me more or I would never ask someone who didn't tip that they forgot to tip. Like it is what it is.
