The flavor is good. A bit sweet but the presentation and flavor is nice-8/10 Crispy milk roll-1/10. Tastes too greasy and not crispy. Milky taste is very mild. I think they should remove this dish from the menu. Watermelon pandan jelly with ice cream-4/10. the pandan jelly is too soft and lack of texture. If they make it firmer, I think it might be better. The flavor is just lacking. Taro ball mochi-7/10. The over flavor is there but their mochi is not chewy or smooth. A bit soft. I had this dessert in China and I loved it. Docking a star for the sandwiches. I really don't recommend them. But I generally enjoy their other items. The only plus of the sandwiches are the crunchy bits where they leave the press marks. I found the sandwiches to be overly sweet. Why would a buldak sausage sandwich be sweet? The durian mochi was yummy but wasn't a super strong durian taste, all their fried items are typically crispy and well fried. The highlight of this meal was the milk ice; I.e snow cream (I didn't know that was what it was when I ordered). It's gigantic! It's enough to feed 3 people. We thought it was a small bowl so we ordered two. Unable to admit defeat, we sat there finishing two giant bowls, but they were so tasty, I didn't really mind. Heard great things about this dessert spot I had to check it out. Came on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't too busy and we were able to get seated right away. I was hungry so tried some of their pastas. They have a very small selection of real food but the black pepper beef pasta was pretty good. The shrimp alfredo pasta was just ok. For dessert I got the mango dessert which was good and big portions. My favorite is probably the ginger milk pudding because they ask how strong of ginger you want. They serve food as well... but I came to try their Mango Pomelo Sago and was hoping they had Dao Fu Fa... but they didn't. For takeaway, you order through the kiosk. Dining in, the wait staff will take your orders. So we got 2 things - Mango Pomelo Sago - (4/10), mango was sour, not sweet act all... and the Taro Sago was just ok (5/10). Tried the ginger milk pudding. It's literally ginger juice and milk, mixed together it causes a reaction and the milk solidifies after a few minutes. For $10 I think it's quite a ripoff, but I guess good to try if you can't make this at home yourself. My friend who came here before told me to flip the timer once more so that it's less watery/soft. But even after flipping it again, it was still quite soft but the consistency was nice and smooth like tofu fa. They give you option of less ginger, regular ginger, or more. I decided to try regular and it was too spicy for me, less ginger would have been better for me. Also tried the black sesame & peanut & red bean mochi dessert. I'm not a huge fan of straight up sesame soup, but my bf liked it. It wasn't too sweet which was good for us. The place is very spacious and they have plenty of booths as well. Yuan Yang definitely has a lot of potential of being one of the best and most authentic Chinese dessert spot in all of Brooklyn. Their jasmine pudding and ginger milk pudding were both extremely delicious, although I'd caution going light on the ginger for the normal amount was already quite intense. Their other dessert selections are on the pricier side compared to other places. The spaghetti with shrimp, mushroom and bacon cream had really good flavor, but the mushroom were cut so thin and so scarce that you can barely taste it; it felt like they cut half of one mushroom (as evident in the photo). The shrimp were the baby shrimp which I personally don't really like and felt it made the dish worse. Overall it's an easy fix if they choose to, but the dish definitely has potential of being amazing! The staff were all very friendly and spoke English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. The aesthetics is very pretty and welcoming, with enough space between tables to sit comfortably. First day opening! Yuan Yang is a popular neo-Chinese dessert spot from Flushing, now at Brooklyn's 86th street. This new location is much more spacious and can hold more tables. Menu seems to be the same. I definitely love the spacious spot here. Taste seems to also maintain the same, so it's good that I can get some dessert items here without traveling all the way to Flushing. Prices are around $10-$14 for every item (for some items that's actually pretty overpriced and others is decent so you gotta know what to pick) the rose tea is surprisingly affordable but wasn't as sweet as I'd like or as I'm used to like the one as prince tea house. the desserts aren't too sweet which is good and the signature dishes like taro red bean is pretty good too considering I don't rlly like taro. This seems to be a really new spot - I had dinner before this next door! The staff was super sweet and knew Mandarin and Cantonese and English and helped me and my friend's family feel super comfortable. They were comfy cute chairs and definitely aesthetic haha. The waiter got us water immediately and also asked us if we had any questions to let him know. Again, you can order with the server or on the iPad! I love that there were pictures with everything because there are a lot of Asian flavors and combinations, and they had food as well! We got the ginger pudding which is featured, and also a classic mango sago cold dessert. There was so much other options but we were full. Food wise they had sandwiches with durian OR taro with pork floss OR like a buldak option? So interesting. Anyway the ginger pudding comes and she actually pours the pudding in liquid form into a pot and the hourglass is a timer for 6 min, which is how long the pudding takes to set. It was a bit anticlimactic but we liked the strong ginger flavor and it wasn't too sweet! The mango sago was super good, no notes. Stopped by to try their desserts after dinner and I was pleasantly surprised! I love Chinese dessert and came here with the intention of ordering the signature dessert with the taro balls but decided to try other things instead. The rose tea was good but not much of a rose flavor, it just tasted like oolong milk tea, but I enjoyed eating the dried dates and goji berries in it afterwards. The ginger pudding was good! Texture was so soft, and very strong ginger flavor! It was a bit too spicy for me, I would get the "less ginger" option next time. I loved the durian mango pandan jelly dessert, it was so yummy and my favorite of the three items ordered. Ordering is easy with the tablet, they also offer a paper menu but since it was late at night, they insisted we ordered on the tablet which I had no problem with. Tried this new restaurant in the neighborhood. Friendly staff, great decor and delicious food. They have booth seating as well as regular seating. You get to order via the iPads at the table. We ordered 3 combo meals for dinner. Combos only available Monday-Friday only and range from $15.99-$17.99 with set entree, drink and appetizers/dessert. Got the spaghetti with shrimp bacon and mushroom with jasmine tea pudding and signature coffee milk tea combo , jumbo shrimp mango salad with cucumber dressing, pork floss fries and jasmine milk tea combo and black truffles beef cream stew rice with octopus balls and lemon peach green tea. Food came quickly. Overall , everything was tasty and very filling that we couldn't even get a chance to try their dessert as we were too full! The jumbo shrimp salad was not jumbo but just regular size and was more defrosted frozen shrimp (not fresh ones). But the other ingredients in the salad were fresh (mixed greens, broccoli,blueberries, mango, peas ,corn and potatoes salad in it). It paired well with the seasoned friends and the pork floss was a nice touch. The rice was creamy and reminds you of risotto with truffles . They were also generous with the beef and it tasted great but was extremely filling. The octopus balls were more doughy but still tasted good. The pasta dish was like carbonara style and we enjoyed it as well. The Jasmine milk tea and jasmine milk pudding was both pretty good . Signature coffee milk tea was strong and didn't have much sugar. The lemon peach green tea was our least favorite, lack peach taste, over powered with lemon and lime and didn't have much sugar so it was extremely sour that we couldn't even drink most of it. Have been here twice already and it has become one of my favorite Asian dessert spots in brooklyn. Keep in mind this place is on the pricier side in terms of Asian dessert but they also have the advantage that nobody else in brooklyn sells the stuff they do there. Some of the other places like meet fresh, kowlong tong mango mango all sell similar stuff IMO, this place has more Hong Kong style options like steamed ginger milk with the cute hour glass timer that is way too short (realistically you should turn the hourglass twice) because it is way too watery and I think they recently received feedback about that cause the second time I came they told us to wait another 2-3 min after the timer is done. I think 5-7 would have been better advice. One of my favorite item that I have tried is their shaved ice! So so good! Without being overly sweet. My least favorite dessert was the soy milk pudding, not terrible but not the best, I would skip. read more
