A photo showing the ambiguous and misleading language on the YPAC website claiming to have alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks.
    Chelsea L.

I attended the YPAC for their monthly comedy night. The comedic performances were extremely funny, but I have one significant complaint. PROSPECTIVE ATTENDEES SHOULD BE AWARE. The YPAC website states that there is a bar serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks; however, this is misleading--in reality, only beer and wine are available. The selection consisted of drinks like Twisted Teas, White Claw, crappy beer, and red wine. They failed to chill the white wine until just before the event began. They did offer canned cocktails, but it seemed YPAC only obtained a single case, as these were sold out almost instantly. Canned cocktails were being sold for $18/can. The establishment was clearly unprepared. It was frustrating to discover that their advertised promise of "alcoholic beverages" is so ambiguous that it can be interpreted in virtually any way. My suggestion is for YPAC to update its website to be honest and transparent and explicitly state that they serve only beer and wine so ticket buyers can make informed decisions about their night. I made sure to attach the picture of where it says online. Please be transparent and honest YPAC!

Here to see Kimberly Perry. Just a suggestion. Let us use the restrooms inside. The port o potties are unacceptable. Long line and gross. That's it. Please and thank you.

I cannot say enough great things about the Yucaipa Performing Arts Center (YPAC). YPAC offers so many opportunities and entertainment for the local community. My daughter performs here regularly for their open mic events and it is ran extremely professionally. We are grateful there is an opportunity for up and coming musicians and artists to perform here. We have seen concerts here, watched a play on Christmas Eve, went ice skating just before new years, my daughter even had her homecoming dance here and it was AMAZING! During the pandemic, when all churches were closed, our church utilized this outdoor space so we could still attend church in a safe manner. YPAC in conveniently located right on Yucaipa Blvd, and is within walking distance of craft breweries and upscale restaurants. It is surrounded by a super cute and cool part of town. If you are looking for entertainment, classes for art, acting, or music, or performance opportunities, you must check out YPAC! I'm honestly surprised that this place doesn't have more reviews. Thank you YPAC for being such a treasured part of this community!

The dance lessons were okay and the facility is clean and in a nice shopping center. What turned me off to the studio though is the show and how it was run. First off the Stage manager at the Merry and Bright show was very rude. I got reprimanded and talked to in an unprofessional tone several times while volunteering back stage. Backstage was chaos and volunteers were given no direction besides "keep these children quiet". The dress rehearsal went on for a very long amount of time. My child was in the 8th act out of 29 acts and we were not done until 8pm (with a 6 start time). My child was up way past any acceptable hour for a 3 year old because the rehearsal lasted so long. Also because of the chaotic nature back stage I was fearful that my child might slip away and no one would notice so I stayed backstage even when I wasn't volunteering because I felt they didn't have a good eye on the kids especially the young ones. Lastly the other kinder-theater classes (same age and skill level) were much more prepared for their performance. I thought the teachers would be with the kids or perhaps run them through their dance moves a few times before performance. But this was not the case. My child's teacher was in several acts before and after the little kinders preformed so she wasn't there with them at all. This was extremely poor planning on the part of the studio to put all of her dances before and after her classes dance. Of course all the littles froze on stage because they are three and they played the wrong music. I got a stern talking to on two occasions for miming the dance moves to them when they got scared and froze. I will be canceling our membership and will have my daughter go to a new studio.

About 75% of the plays are geared for and to children, but adults find humor in the jokes and acting as much as the kids. The other 25% of the plays are sure to make an emotional impact, be it pure comedy or heart-wrenching stories based on real history, and all of it is truly awe-inspiring to watch. The set-up is fairly simple; some couches mixed with tables and chairs in the audience. Audience members are provided with a small dish of light snacks to start them off, and more snacks and drinks are available for purchase in the lobby. There's usually an intermission for people to take a bathroom break or to buy more concessions. The folks at this theater also sometimes provide silk roses for purchase that have tags attached for notes of encouragement and praise to individual actors. These are delivered during intermission, so it's best if they're bought and written early on. (Usually the actors also appreciate candy tribute, so you can do it with either a flower or a candy!) Following the end of a performance, the actors gather in the lobby for a meet and greet with their audience members. You can shake hands, ask questions, and take pictures with your favorite characters. This is one of my favorite theaters to attend. It really is a hidden gem in Yucaipa!

The reason why I remembered to write a good review is because it is that time of the year again when I register with the wonderful team headed by their director, Nichelle. They are absolutely trustworthy and really took care of my daughter. Where do I begin to tell everyone about how this camp has helped my daughther find her voice and purpose? She was such a shy wall flower when we discovered this because a friend highly recommended this to us as her son has been going as well for years (just a side note, her son has been diagnosed with autism and they have been very great in taking care of him. He is amazing on stage!). My daughter have made friends who have been going to this camp for years as well. Her camp counselors always took such good care of her and even extended after the camp. She was able to audition for a wonderful play because of her recommendation. Whatvan amazing opportunity. Oh my gosh the camp. She enjoys it the and topics are amazing. She meets with acclaimed casting directors and other people from the indisustry and has helped her so much with her auditions. She likes the make up and props classes. She loves the live audience shoots!! We are so proud watching her act and do monologues. All in all, we will continue sending her to this camp. I am glad to know that they now have daily acting classes whole year round. We are checking out the voice over classes in Claremont. Thank you Young Actor's Camp and see you soon!

The website stated that they would make 4 scrunchies during the hour and a half class, that all fabric was included. When we got there, I found out the owner (Vicky) had decided to intentionally double book the class, without telling anyone, including the instructor (who was a 13 year old girl named Audrey). So now there were 10 kids, most of whom have never sewn before. They had one cutting station set up (girls weren't allowed to cut by themselves) and 4 machines, but Vicky said one of the machines wasn't very good and she wouldn't recommend buying it. After an hour, zero scrunchies were done. I made a comment that I didn't see how the girls were going to complete 4 scrunchies in the next half hour at the rate they were going. The owner tried to tell me that it was "up to 4 per person" but that's not what the website says (*see screenshot). At that point though, she became more involved and started actually helping the students. Up to that point, Audrey, who was FABULOUS by the way, was doing all instruction but can only help so many girls at once. After 2 hours, most of the girls have completed ONE scrunchii each.I told Vicky what is going on in this class is NOT okay. She looked surprised and asked what the issue was. I told her: too many students, not enough help, not enough machines, etc. The responses I got: "Well, we have 4; you could have brought your own". Again, no supply list given. This was a beginner class, and my girls don't own their own machines.... "It depends on each person. Some people take longer. Like that girl (as she points to one child); she has had issues and needed to take out stitches twice"... "most of the people who come in already know the basics." So... Where are my girls supposed to learn the basics if not in abeginner class? "Audrey is the instructor. I'm trying to run a business here." ... Ok, so if Audrey is the instructor, then who opened up the class to be double booked?? You, or Audrey?? *at this point Vicky ignored me for about 20 seconds and then said "I opened up the class to more students."... "You're getting a really cheap price for this class. Most places charge you for the material etc." I agreed and told her it WAS a great price, and that's why I booked it for my scouts. But her deciding to run an inexpensive class doesn't mean that my girls aren't entitled to the lesson we paid for. She's the business owner. She sets the prices. And, as customers, we shouldn't lose out because of her poor planning. She finished by saying "I could always charge you more if you want." Audrey kept apologizing as she rushed between students & m ade multiple comments about "If I had known, I would have brought more material" and "I was so surprised when I saw how many girls were here." ... Vicky then tried to say "I told you I opened it to more students. Don't you remember??" And Audrey (being a 13 year old, very obviously trying to cover for her boss) goes "ummm... Oh yeah... I guess I forgot." No she didn't. She was blindsided. Vicky then talked quietly to Audrey for a few minutes... Asked her if 4 scrunchies was too much for one class. Audrey told her no, it's fine if he class was small. Then she asked if she is unable to teach large classes. Again, Audrey told her the number was fine, if she had known ahead of time and had the necessary supplies. Vicky finished up their conversation I saying something along the lines of, "well next time we just won't allow anyone into the beginner class unless they already know how to sew." What??? Does that make any sense to anyone else?? Never once did Vicky take responsibility for messing this up. I didn't get an apology or even a suggestion to minimize the chaos next time. I was met with an attitude when I questioned things and told that the girls could come back another day, buy more material, and pay an additional $5 to sew more. Vicky just said "there's nothing I can do about this." After THREE hours, most of the girls had finished TWO scrunchies each, and we finally left. They were frustrated. I was angry and felt the owner was inept. But, even after ALL of that, I was going to let it go and just chalk it up as a learning experience.... But then we got in the car. The first thing 2 of my girls told me was that Vicky talked to them quietly as they were buying additional material to take home. She asked them "So you know how to do social media and all that stuff?" When they said yes, Vicky told them to log onto a Yelp as soon as they leave make sure to leave her a high star review! Wtf??? That is next level inappropriate, especially for a fledgling business owner. We will NOT be returning. P.S. - I wish it were possible to leave a zero star for shabby rose/ Vicky, and a 5 star for Audrey. She was great, very professional and patient, and my girls would love to work with her again in the future, but through a different venue.
