Lured by the seducing aroma, I was drawn to this miniature food truck after a long period of work. As the name suggests, Yummy Dog specializes in gourmet hot dogs with not only extra topping materials but also different sausages and breads. From the familiar Chicago dog to the German hot dog, you will find this food truck to satisfy your set craving or culinary curiosity for meat in a bun! My choice was the Munich ($6), a German hot dog in a pretzel bun topped with spicy mayo and grilled onion. Everything was made on the spot, so the food was delivered to my mouth piping hot! I intended this to be a pre-dinner snack, but I was wrong because it actually filled me up. I did not regret missing dinner because I ate this delicious, juicy hot dog augmented with the spiciness of the mayo sauce and the grilled onion! Despite being a food truck, the price is reasonable for a gourmet hot dog especially for the amount Yummy Dog delivers. The friendliness of the truck owner also made everything even better. I highly recommend you swing by this awesome hot dog truck if you see this around!

Maybe my standards are too high for food truck dogs from going to Biker Jim's in Denver, but I wasn't impressed with Yummy Dog. Currywurst was flavorless and fries tasted like the Ore Ida fries you can buy in the freezer section at the grocery store. Not a good value for the price. There are better food trucks around, or just order something from Karbach if you're there.

We tried Yummy Dog last week because it was the host food truck at Town In City. The smell was very enticing but once I tried it, I decided it's not for me. To be fair, the food looks enticing but something didn't quite hit it there for me you know? For our order, we shared an order of the Currywurst (fries topped with goodies) the Samurai dog and one Smoky (chicken and turkey w/onions and mustard) dog. The currywurst was good and it was served hot, but it was just ok to me. The bf LOVED everything we had, but then again he's a lover of all things meat. My order, the Smoky dog was good and I left half of it because I was full on the fries. The one that stood out to me was the Samurai! It's a chicken and turkey dog, with seaweed salad and those great crunchy onions. I was jealous that I wasn't the one who ordered it lol The people who run the truck were really nice and even brought our food to where we were sitting inside, so service is good. If it were my bf writing this review, he would rate 5 stars but to me, I'm being honest, it was ok. The food was good but not real memorable. If I were to go find Yummy Dog when they're at other locations it would probably be to try the Samurai dog again but that's pretty much it. Solid 3 stars.

Your food may be good, but $12 fries? At least put some kind of meat on it. Asked for cheese and got unmelted shredded cheese. What a joke.

To me this is the best food truck in the greater Houston area. I have eaten food from a lot of food trucks.

Ask the Community - Yummy Dog

Years ago there was an amazing food truck named Yummyz Kitchen that sold hot dogs. The hot dog was so good that I wrote my first Yelp review. By chance is this food truck related? If so, you've got a customer.

One of South Houston's most famous food carts, the Hotdog and Corn Guy is literally all that and…read morethen some (#1). It's become a rite of passage for street food loving folks, which is often the case for aa lunch time snack or a late night . While I can't say I was impressed with everything I had, I am pleased it was all simple and affordable. The first thing is the corn, which in this case is elote (on the cob) or elote en vaso (#2), which is served in a syrofoam cup. The condiments are self serve, so the toppings are as up to the customer. I personally likes of lime, cotija chese, chile powder, and a nice slab of butter. Some of my corn pieces in both the cob and cup version were a tinge dry, but it was enjoyable as a whole. Their Mexican style hot dog is likely the best thing they have. Wrapped in bacon and decked out in a myriad of peppers, onions, jalapeños, tomatoes, and sauces, it is a hefty dog for less than $5. There is a smaller sausage version for kids, but it's rarely available. They also have fajita tacos for $2 each. There are no other meats available, but the portions are very generous. Sadly, the tacos were average at best and the salsa verde was underwhelming. i also didn't appreciate the old limes that were just thrown into the bag without being separated in its own. Spanish is preferred and this is a cash only business. Seating options are zero, so plan to eat this on the small counter space on the spot, or back in the car for a takeout / take home date. This would be an excellent option for a casual lunch or a snack in the near-wee hours of the evening. __________ (#1) Tacos, mainly. (#2) Known in other circles as "esquite."
