How good can a hot dog be? Well, for a hot dog, it was surprisingly good. This ain't no hot dog in a normal hot dog bun with some toppings like James Coney Island. The bread was almost like buttered toast surrounding a delicious sausage, topped with chili, Fritos, and other yummy items. We also got a side of fries which were pleasantly crispy and hot. We were in a good mood so we got some wings as well and those were better than expected. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend it to a friend. The service was good as the workers are super friendly. The ambiance was rustic and down to earth, nothing fancy. The establishment was clean and there was plenty of seating. The only downside is that parking in that part of town can be tight. Enjoy!
A little slow but great hot dogs! The Chicago dog isn't what I was expecting tho which was a bummer. The bread was toasty but a tad dry. My favorite is definitely the curry dog. Will definitely be back to try rest of menu!
My friend and I were in the mood for some hot dogs a few weeks ago and this place was nearby. Parking is a bit tight due to location so if you find a spot here, nab it! There's many dog options to choose from. While overwhelming, you can't argue with classics such as the chi-town, sunshine (seattle) dog, or the chillin' dog. I went with the Deli dog (house mustard, provolone, mixed greens, tomatoes, giardiniera) while my friend went with the ol zapata dog (bacon, muenster cheese, caramelised onions, tomatoes, jalapeño relish, ketchup, mayo). We also got an order of onion rings and potato salad. Including a glass of cider and a soda, our total including tip came to $50. Quite pricy for two people so I was hoping the dogs would be worth it. Fortunately the food is tasty, both of our dogs were cooked properly and delicious. The potato salad had good consistency. And we loved the onion rings which were the highlight of our meal. Plus that dipping sauce, oh my! Seating is a bit cramped so arrive with anticipation that you may not get a table if it's packed. The service is friendly with the cooks and waitstaff accommodating requests and drink orders. While it's on the pricier side, it's hard to argue with a good hot dog when you're in the mood for one which Good Dog is happy to do for ya!
I can't believe I've never left a review for Good Dog, shame on me! This is literally one of my favorite restaurants of all time. I always tell people that are visiting Houston that they have to try it out! We went with my husband's family after Thanksgiving last year, and it was just as good as I remember! I can't remember what all we ordered, but not one thing was anything less than extraordinary, and the service and ambiance were delightful as well. Their hot dogs are the best I've ever had, anywhere, bar none. The crazy awesome toppings they put on are just the icing on the cake, really. Also, their milkshakes are to die for, so creamy and bursting with flavor! I wish there were more locations so we could visit more often, but maybe that's part of the magic of Good Dog.
These are some d*mn good dogs. Make sure you upgrade your dog to the wagyu dog ($2.50 more times, but worth it) and get the onion rings. During peak hours this could be a difficult place to find seating (there's indoor and outdoor seating), but we were easily able to find a spot to sit. You order at the counter and there's a large selection of dogs and non-dogs if that's not your thing. Also, beer. I got the Chi-Town dog with a wagyu dog and a side salad, as well as the onion rings which my friend ordered for the table (but I ended up eating most of it, LOL). The flavors of the hot dog were great; loved the relish and the peppers on top. The onion rings were "fluffier" and light compared to other onion rings I had--they're really good! And the side salad, because I wanted some veggies, came with a really good dressing (that also welt really well with the onion rings). I'll definitely be back for more dogs! The service was super nice, but if you order a wagyu dog it might take longer for the food to come out. At least that was the case with us. The friends that ordered the default dog got their food much sooner. Parking situation: on-site but limited, but there's neighborhood street parking as well.
Wanted to support a local business in Houston and my friend picked Good Dog. I can't believe we have never tried it considering we drive by it often. Parking is small, more street parking available. It's an order at the front type of restaurant and they bring the food out to your table. The dogs were good. My husband got the Frito Dog and I love the bun, considering it's a different take on hot dogs! We also ordered french fries and they were good. Service is quick. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. Definitely give it a shot.

Stopped by during a Sunday bike ride since weather was good and they have outdoor seating. Aside from the couple classic combos, their menu is pretty creative. Ordered the Chi-Town and Chillin Dog with fries and onion rings. Personally would prefer the fries to be crispy. Overall good quality and flavor. Cute concept, but slightly overpriced ($40 including tip) given it's just hot dogs at the end of the day.

Those dogs are delish and have my cravings in a chokehold. The flavors here are poppin' and the ingredients are perfectly paired and taste so fresh. The onion rings and fries aren't bad either, but the dogs are definitely the star of the show-- as they should be. Good Dog, you done good... And now, I'm totally hooked!

This time we went with The Texican Dog and it was delicious! The ingredients were so fresh. I love their soft, lightly toasted buns and the unique flavor combinations. Service was great; super friendly and patient. It was around 1pm on a Friday and there were only a few other customers so my order came out fast. Clean restaurant with good amount of seating. These dogs are pricey but delicious and I'd return to try their other unique combos.

Definitely one of the more hipster places that started a few years ago as this area became more and more gentrified and Austin-like. We came by during a ride on a weekend because they had outdoor patio seating. We ordered based off of a recent but apparently outdated menu; the hot dogs were decent; nothing crazy special in terms of flavor profile but they're good, generic, slightly upscale versions of their fast food counterparts. It looks like cost inflation is to thank for another 10%+ on their items. Was going for a 3.5 but bumped it down just due to price. Two hot dogs with sides and tip came out to $40. That's quite a bit and this isn't even Minute Maid!
We are having a staycation in the Heights. This was our first time visiting this place. We found it on Yelp and after viewing all the photos, we thought to give it try. We were very pleased. This is what we chose as our Anniversary lunch. Service: Friendly and efficient Food Fresh and definitely worth returning. Parking; Parking next to the building. Very small and kinda tight.
Cute place to have a hot dog. The food was pretty tasteful. They have a homemade ketchup that had a very good taste. The lady behind the bar was pretty nice and helpful but the guy who took our order was rude but not to other patrons . The chili fries had a good taste not overpowering flavor. Loved the Texican dog. Liked it but not enough to be back. It's also pretty pricey for hot dogs.
Great food, lots of unique dogs and a Weiner Dog motif, what's not to love? It's a small establishment with a walk into my home vibe. The NY dog is my fav along with the fried pickle jar which is fried thick slices of pickle. The lavender lemonade is delicious. There is outside seating too but the parking lot is painfully small - like maybe 10 slots. Still, the food, that's a yes. read more
Updating my review to give some praise to Terry because he deserves it!! He's always so friendly, helpful and cheery that the atmosphere of this place has improved tremendously! My husband and I have been eating here since 2021 and on a way-more-regular-basis than I'd like to admit (lol!), so we definitely noticed when the staff changed. With this change brought Terry, who is a beacon of light in our favorite hot dog place! His attitude is always uplifting and he never gets annoyed with all the substitutions we make to our dogs since we are vegetarian. He's also very attentive and does a great job of taking care of us as well as the other restaurant patrons. We love his energy and always leave this place feeling better than when we first entered. Thanks for being amazing, Terry! We appreciate you and we'll be back to see you again very soon! read more
Damn, I am writing this review at 9am, and the picture of this vegetarian hot dog is making my mouth water. I wonder if that is everything you need to know. But, I will try to elaborate. Firstly, vegetarian friendly hot dog places are few and far in between, so Good Dog Houston is so very much appreciated (probably by all vegetarians in Houston, but I only speak for myself). I ordered the Curryous Frank on the cashier's recommendation and was not disappointed. The service was quick and friendly. The flavor profile was rich and had such depth for such a simple item. I also ordered the fries, and enjoyed them as well. I really appreciated the dog friendly patio. My little boy just hung out in his travel carrier and enjoyed the fresh air while I ate and enjoyed the dog. I am definitely coming back to try more! read more

Holy cats this hot dog place serves the best hot dog I've ever had in my life. The Benedict Franklin is my favorite one and it's so flavorful and rich! The kids menu is great too if you have kiddos. Their shakes are also juuuust fantastic. Honestly their menu has a lot of options so I'm excited to come back and try the not a dog options. This is our second time back and the memory of the Benedict Franklin was so good from the first time that I ordered it again. Fresh cut fries too! Do yourself a favor and try it out. The quality of the meat was clearly very good; it's an all-beef frank made by Sabrett's, which was juicy and packed with flavor. The bun was buttery, toasty and soft. The execution of the hotdog fell short because the toppings were more of an afterthought. The Mac n cheese was cold and bland, while the bacon was very hard (not as in crunchy but like it had been made for awhile already). I may try to go back during a peak time in the hopes of getting a fresher product all around. read more

I've been eating good dog since it was just a food truck in the menil collection parking lot. Food is just as consistently good now as it was then. The Sunshine and Chicago are my go to's, but I'm also a big fan of the Picnic and Ol Zapata dogs. Frito pie is great. Pretzel rolls come with butter, mustard, and cheese sauce and they are all fire. Milkshakes hit the spot when you're feeling like a tubs. They also usually have a nice selection of beer if dining in. Would be sitting at the bar weekly if I lived closer. read more
When it comes to hotdogs, I usually usually prefer a no-frills basic dog. While there are a select few gourmet dogs that I like, it usually isn't the norm for me. I woke up on Sunday NEEDING a hot dog. As a result, I turned to Yelp looking for some guidance. As usual - Yelp did not let me down. After browsing the menu, I knew that I had to order their chili dog please dog. As I read the description, I read that chili included chorizo. I was intrigued. When the dish came out, it was severely smothered with cheese and chili -- which is just what the doctor ordered. As I took my first bite, I was instantly impressed and so glad that I made the trip down here. The entire meal was great! As I said earlier, I'm usually a no-frills hot dog lover, but with this place - I love the frills. There are many other things on the menu that I want to try, but honestly -- I'm not sure if I will branch out from the chili cheese please dog. Can't wait to go back! read more
There is so much variety in their menu, lots of interesting Hot Dogs. Their rodeo dog is my favorite. Their fried pickles are delicious and so crispy, I am shocked and how crunchy the were, they did not get soggy in the slightest. Highly recommend you try their friend pickles!!? The ambiance is great and there is a decent amount of seating for it being located in the heights. The parking is not great, but you can street park in the neighborhoods around. The service is great, everyone is very friendly but it does take them a bit to prepare the food. Overall, it's worth a try!! read more

I will give them a four because they are clean, ingredients are fresh tasting, and the staff was friendly. I could've probably given them a 5 but I didn't taste anything that had my mouth singing, unfortunately. However, I did try a few items and each had a different taste with a different set of ingredients which made me enjoy the variety offered. So I had the chili cheese dog, the Chicago dog, the fancy slider and the new lemongrass soup. The hot dogs are great bc the bread they use seems thick but it actually works very well and is light and fluffy still. The lemongrass soup was okay but I think it just doesn't mix well with everything else I got. If I were to have just gotten that on a soup day it would've hit the spot. The Chicago dog was 5/10, chili cheese 7/10 and the fancy slider was 6/10. The waitstaff was also great so I'd definitely come again. read more

Saw this place on tik tok and wanted to try it out. The hot dogs looked great but they were just okay. I got the rodeo dog which for me the toppings were surprisingly flavorless and I didn't really like the bbq sauce on it. We got the fried pickles in a jar as an appetizer which were pretty good! This place is a bit of a drive from cypress and overall we left a bit disappointed. I don't think I would go back. We went around 5 pm and there was hardly anyone there so the food came out pretty quick which was great. read more
I'm giving this place a benefit of the doubt because we did come in around 10 o'clock on a Monday. There wasn't anyone in sight and we wanted to have some random dogs. I ordered the Chicago styled hot dog and it was very tasty however the bun and the hot dog itself wete kind of cold. Like I said, it was most likely the timing because we were the only one's that came and went from 10 to 1130. I have to say that the Onion rings were pretty amazing along with their fries! Their homemade ketchup is pretty interesting and has a sweet kick to it! I recommend coming here for lunch or an early dinner. read more
I love Good Dog! I've been eating here since it was just a truck and I really enjoy their expanded menu now. I always get the tofu dog substituted which is really good. My two go to hot dogs are the Ol' Zapata and Chi-town, can't recommend either of these enough. The buns here are amazing, fresh and buttery. They have a nice outdoor patio and plenty of seating inside. Go check them out if you haven't already! read more

Exceeded my expectations! You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. Drink stations are available with silverware, with napkin holders on the tables. The parking lot is small so depending on what time you visit you may need to park in the neighborhood. Outdoor patio is dog friendly. I tried the tofu dog and it was really flavorful, highly recommend! read more
First time here, we will be back. We had three dishes and really liked them. The curry chicken sandwich was the best while the bratwurst sandwich was good too. A surprise how it was served. The menu was enticing and we had a hard time choosing. The staff was friendly and prompt, but expect a casual atmosphere. Informal and cool. I think you'll enjoy I recommend it. read more
Let me start by saying I do not like hot dogs, period. However, the husband does and he really loves this place. So what's a good spouse to do, support his love of the food and come here with him! He always gets the build your own, and adds all the things on a pretzel bun. So since I do not like hot dogs, what do I eat you ask? Well, the Delicious Deli Club is just that, delicious. I will say on this sandwich the bread was super filling. I also love the Curried Chicken Sandwich, which came on sourdough bread, so it was just the right amount of balance between meat and bread. I always forget to tell them no chips, though. Typical atmosphere and I love to people watch on the front patio on a nice day. read more
