Definitely went downhill. I order takeout from this restaurant frequently since it's the closest sushi/hibachi to me, 5 mins drive. I came here with my family along with 2 other families since they were doing specials B1G1 50% off hibachi. - service was decent, we were the only table for hibachi. - tables and plates were sticky, it was stuck to the table. - I rarely eat here since I have little kids and takeout is more convenient. We ordered a few items and 6 hibachi and 1 kids meal. For the kids meal we didn't order a drink but they kept pushing us to order a drink for the deal. It didn't make sense since we were okay with the child being only 4 to have her meal not be part of the promotion. In the end, the promotion was not fully honored. They used the kids meal as the 1/2 off and refused to let us split the check between the three families. Coupon will not be honored if split.. dumb excuse. It was an excuse so that we can't get a discount for the reg hibachi. If you're not going to honor it right, you should not promote it. We were surprised how busy it was considering it was only 5:15 pm on a weekday. Everyone was in the front room which includes the bar, some tables and a sushi counter. We selected: * Gyoza (6 pieces): Pan fried or steamed pork dumpling $7.50 * Hibachi Chicken & Shrimp with Fried Rice $25.00 * Sake Don (7 pieces) Salmon sashimi over a bed of sushi rice $15 Soup and salads arrived immediately, and were fine, standard fare. The fried Gyoza was very tasty and quite light. The Sake Don was good, the salmon was a little thin, there was a nice amount of roe added and a huge amount of rice. But the Hibachi Chicken & Shrimp was terrible. The proteins were tough and dry, the rice was much too salty and also dry, it was a very unappealing dish. My co-diner commented that the venue looked tired, the table felt sticky (the plastic menu was difficult for the waiter to retrieve from the table as it was stuck to it), and it was very noisy. The older lady that works here is extremely stingy and borderline racist. As soon as I walked in she gave me a weird look and weird energy like I wasn't supposed to be there. I love their sushi and maki, but the value for money is decreasing. The maki and special salads are becoming more and more skimpy for take-out orders. (Some special maki's used to have two tempura shrimp in them, now there'--what seems to be-- two halves of shrimp, special rolls in "Love boat" are smaller and smaller, the lunch roll specials are smaller, sushi and sashimi fish portions seem to remain the same.). The take-out lettuce is ALWAYS rusty, but edible, and the salad dressing tastes like ketchup is added--which is not appetizing (but it is edible). Looks like corners are being cut on food portions (and to some degree, quality), thus instead of going every 1-2 weeks, my takeout is more like every 1-2 months. This is the BEST sushi spot within a 40 mile radius. Sushi is very fresh. There is a large bar staffed with a dedicated bartender. There are 3 huge flatscreen TVs (which makes this a very popular spot to watch football) as well as Keno. The other half of the restaurant is a hibachi room. The crab Rangoon are really my favorite, they're the best place in the city for a good set of them. The hibachi chefs are super fun, attentive, cool your meals to perfection. Delivery instead of going out, I used the Yelp app and made my choices there. My dinner arrived right on time, packaged well and precisely what I ordered. One set of chopsticks and four packets of soy sauce for a starter and two rolls. I got one order of the steamed dumplings as my starter. Good texture and even though they were in a take out box, they came with the proper sauce for dipping. For the main course, I chose two maki rolls. I've never had hibachi here. The service is hit or miss. They seem really apathetic about their customers in the many times I've come. I mostly come here because it's really close to us, and it's ilterally the only place to get non-Chinese American Asian food nearby. That said, it could be worse! THIS PLACE IS OPEN FOR DINE-IN !!! They were only open for take-out for a while but recently opened back up for dine in. I came on a Saturday night and it was not too busy. I ordered the Las Vegas roll, volcano roll, and crazy maki and everything was super delicious and fresh. I also had the steak hibachi and the meat was cooked perfectly medium. Nothing was dry and had tons of flavor. This place has never failed me, every time I go they give great service and fresh sushi/food. We bought a Groupon to Yummy's. It was our 1st time here and we were less that impressed. We arrived around 4:50 and were seated for Hibachi right way, we ended up sitting alone at our table but the staff wouldn't let us move to be front and center for the show. We were told to stay sitting on the side, which confuses us a bit, but whatever. The staff was attentive and gave us plenty of time to peruse the menu. That was the best part of our experience. From there we ordered drinks. A cape codder was ordered directly from their menu options, however, the staff had no idea what the drink was. 3 different staffers came by to ask what we had ordered, one actually asked if we ordered a cape Hampton?! . Finally a 4th brought the drink menu and we pointed it out to them. When the drink arrived (15 minutes later) it was so strong we could hardly stomach it. Think "straight pink vodka" and you're about right on taste! Now, I like a strong vodka drink, however this tasted like they put a shot of cran in the glass then topped it with all vodka. Every sip was like taking a shot. So if you want a cheap night, def. preparty there and ask for a cape coder. I however was out with the hubs and kids so walking out plastered wasn't exactly an option. The food was typical hibachi fare. However, the actual hibachi show left us wanting. There was no interaction with the cook, no sake catch, no jokes, not food catch, nothing. They guy threw the oil and alcohol onto the veggies and called it good enough. He literally spent 8 minutes with us. Then moved onto a bigger table where he turned on the charm and gave them a great show. My son was extremely disappointed and rather upset he didn't get the show he was used too. Especially when the 3 other tables did. We get that we were a smaller party, but why would your standards drop based on the number of guests at the table? Overall, okay food, damn strong drinks, and disappointing showmanship by the cook. There are better places in the Woo to do hibachi. We will not be back. Well, unless I need a cheap date night... then I will camp out at their bar. read more
