This was my second visit to Bar One, I enjoyed my Sushi dinner takeout on the first visit and was looking forward to a repeat. On this evening, I was joined by my co-diner who prefers Chinese food to Sushi. We ordered: * Salmon Sashimi (2 orders - 3 pieces each) * Fantastic Roll: Salmon, Tuna, Yellowtail, Avocado, Fish Roe with Soy Paper * Gyoza * Spring Roll * Pork Dumplings (Fried) * Chicken Fried Rice Total: $73 with tax and tip. The Salmon Sashimi was very good, thick slices of fresh and buttery salmon. The Fantastic Roll was good, albeit not fantastic. The menu mentioned fish roe, but I didn't see or taste any. And rounding out the good dishes was the Gyoza, which was nicely prepared, light and crispy. However, the last three dishes ranged from just okay to categorically terrible. The Spring Roll was okay, we've had better, but it was passable. The Pork Dumplings were unappetizing, the dough was much too heavy, too chewy and most of these remained uneaten and found their way into the trash. The Chicken Fried Rice was very, very dry and flavorless. My co-diner thought it was the worst fried rice she's ever eaten, and most of it was dumped in the trash. The service was dry. Our server was not friendly and hardly smiled. The crab Rangoon's tasted like cream cheese and pastry , the edamame was loaded with salt. I had to ask them to take them back and send a new order, They rinsed them off and sent them back. And the sushi sucked . I won't be going back, or sending friends and family! read more

I've been a customer of this business for many years. Yong shing (old and new) and now Bar One. The food has been outstanding each and every time. Without exception. We recently noticed that the food preparation was not what we expected. I spoke with two other people about this and they agreed. The last three visits the food was not up to the high standards we are used to. There must have been some recent changes. New chef, new supplier etc. Please let me know that whatever happened is being corrected. I want to continue to be a satisfied customer. Quality sushi with great staff but in a loud environment. I went to Bar One and Sushi for lunch. I ordered crab rangoons, gyoza, and a love boat for two. The menu is quite extensive, which isn't always a good sign. The gyoza were very good, pan fried and filled just enough with a tasty filling. The crab rangoons were less successful, though the filling at least was more than just sweet cream cheese I was still wondering where the crab was. The love boat for two was portioned very well for what two people would eat. Not too much, nor too little. All the sushi and sashimi consisted of fresh ingredients, and the rice/fish proportion was spot on. The service was attentive and friendly. I was a little surprised that the tea wasn't a free refill, but it's not expensive. So the star comes off for how loud the place was. Maybe my own failing to not read the name of the establishment, but it was a detractor for me, and this is my review. I can 100% recommend you come here, give this place a try. Reasonable prices for great food. Also, I initially sat on their bench seating along the left wall, but it is very high and, being tall, this made for an uncomfortable seating experience. Comfortable and homey ambiance! We had heard so much about Bar One but never had the chance to visit. We went during lunch time (they have lunch specials), but we noticed so many tables had the pupu platter. We appreciated that this restaurant's meat actually had a meaty texture and not overly tenderized and questionable like many other Chinese restaurants. The vegetables were not mushy on the platter. I loved how the fried rice is like old school fried rice with bean sprouts. The food wasn't too sweet nor salty. We will definitely be coming back with more family! read more

We love getting take out from here. Their prices are about average too. The restaurant itself is always packed which is why we always do take out. The food is always very fresh and it has a lot of flavor. Compared to other local places this place just doesn't compare. The only problem we have is that our kids like the other places because they got used to them! The lo mien has lots of vegetables and you can tell it is cooked right when ordered. A group of 5 of us went on a Friday night. We waited about 20 minutes or so since it's a small restaurant. The sesame chicken didn't come with any rice, which was surprising. I'm glad one of my friends got a large white rice and we were able to share. Besides that, the chicken was delicious. We also got a mini platter. "Mini platter C" which came with crab rangoon, chicken fingers, boneless spareribs, and chicken teriyaki. It was plenty for 2 people to share. The chicken teriyaki was delicious. The boneless spareribs were great. The crab rangoon & chicken fingers were good but not my favorite. Overall, it's not my favorite place for Chinese but it has some awesome choices. The Asian food is delicious. I've had sushi there many times and have never been disappointed. It is hard for me to comment on the other Asian options because I am a sushi fan but those who dine with me have liked their non-sushi choices. I don't think that they have ever been disappointed. This place is ok. It was busy during lunch and has a pretty cool atmosphere. The sushi quality is average. It doesn't compete with other places in the area such as Kai or Wily's for quality of fish whatsoever. It's just your average sushi quality. The food came out fast and I believe the bartender was new so there will be a learning curve for her. We got $150 worth of food for Christmas Eve take out. We have done this at various Chinese places for years. We tried BarOne on the advice of a friend. This was by far the best we have had. The BarOne special ribs are fantastic. Rice was moist and flavorful. Spare ribs were moist, tender and sweet. Rangoons were very full of crab and cheese. wings were top notch. With such a large order-they got it all right. It was hot when we got it home. We will definitely go back. In the past with other places like Nancy Chang, Yong Shing, red Pepper...we usually had sub par food with errors and it was usually no longer hot. The louder the patrons the louder they crank the music. STOP turning up the volume. It just makes everyone talk louder over the music. Today's order was a grub hub delivery as I am alone on this trip. I ordered the sushi and sashimi combo along with a rainbow roll. This time they provided the less sodium soy sauce with my order. Took our Daughter out for her birthday. Heard good things about Bar One food! We were not impressed at all. It's a Bar that serves asian food and Sushi. I ordered Jumbo General Gao very little chicken and mostly bread not hot at all. Other food was good. Portions were big. Place was cold, had a heater next to our table. We both ordered Mai Tais, which were strong but tasty. For an appetizer we got a mini platter with beef teriyaki, boneless ribs, chicken fingers, and chicken wings. The boneless ribs were the best I have ever had and we would be willing to come back just for those.
