Kyoto is one of the really good spots that you can go to and enjoy your meal with your family. My mother and my partner had a kyoto passion drink in a sangria, which both looked very nice. Food is good for the price. It's very filling. All of my friends and I ended up grabbing a to go box. We came in at 8 pm, so it was pretty close to close and so we were pretty much the only table being served. I thought our server was not the nicest, and he seemed either agitated, tired, or both. It's understandable, but he could still have been a bit nicer to us. I was glad when the cook came because the cook was very friendly and engaged with us. One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. It took them 5 mins while standing at the door for anyone to come greet us meanwhile they were just sitting around doing nothing. The restaurant wasn't even busy when we arrived--just a few people at the bar--yet three tables who sat down after us got their food before we did. We asked to be seated at the dining area because we had kids and didn't want to be at the hibachi grill, they told us to sit at the hibachi grill because they had not enough space at the dining tables for our children, but said we can sit at the grill but they'll cook our food in the kitchen. The sushi came out first, and he just left the sushi and ran off without any plates or any little dish that we could use to put soy sauce and wasabi for the sushi. I had to go run to a person who looked like she was in charge to ask for plates because we're sharing a few rolls of sushi we're not going to pick at the sushi plate while seated at the hibachi table far away from one another and she gave a dirty look and came back minutes later with the plates. An entire hour passed and all that came out was one of the 3 hibachi dishes we ordered - without plates, without any yum yum sauce or ginger sauce. The waiter was nowhere to be found, and we had to go looking for him just to cancel the rest of our order if they haven't started it yet. When we went to the hostess to try to get her to track down our waiter, the waiter suddenly appeared with our remaining hibachi dishes --even though at that point we were over it and have been there for far too long already. The food was incorrect even after waiting for an hour and having them cook it straight from the kitchen it took longer than a table who came in last they had their food prepared at the grill and got their food before ours came out. We then asked for the check and boxes to go. The check however came within seconds of being asked for it. After over an hour+ of waiting, poor service, and incorrect food, I can confidently say I would never come back here again. read more

Every single time I come to this restaurant it is nearly empty inside (maybe one or two parties actually eating), yet I have to wait upwards of ten minutes to be greeted by a host or the owner. Usually I have a pretty decent experience at Kyoto. Unfortunately, the last time I was there I was a little disappointed in the service. My friend and I got there and ordered an order of shrimp and shrimp + scallop hibachi dinner. That evening, I didn't order a drink. My friend however, ordered a Mai Tai and apparently she didn't like it. When we finally got our waiter's attention, my friend asked if she could exchange her cocktail for a cranberry juice. Rather than to exchange the cocktail, the waiter told her he could, "add juice to the cocktail" to remedy the issue. This was a five-minute back and forth, which was completely unnecessary. At the end of it all he ended up getting the cranberry juice for her, but I just felt like that was poor customer service. read more

The food was decent but not flavorful. The presentation of the food was average. I pointed out that one of the sushi roles was missing the meat and the water quickly responded buy telling me it was at the bottom of the wrap yet tjebother wraps displayed the meat, the rice, and the wrap nicely. Went on a dinner date last night, it was super poppin'. There were no tables left so we sat at the bar for dinner, served by our friend. Service was great, duh. I got a shrimp hibachi dinner, which comes with a soup & salad included. I love salad with ginger sauce, super yum. I thought the salad was fresh enough & had a good amount of dressing/balance. The soup was warm & soothing. It's a plain soup with mushrooms & scallions, basic but good to warm up your stomach to prepare for the key player. The dinner came out looking delicious. There were a lot of shrimp, & it was cooked well. Vegetables & rice were great, no complaints. The major key to hibachi is eating it with the two sauces they offer on the side. I use the brown one for vegetables, & the orange-y one for rice & vegetables. I never finish my meal, which is great cause I'll have leftovers. I also ordered the deluxe roll called "Lady in Red" it's loaded with all types of ingredients. I was full from dinner so I had a bite of the sushi. It was good, tempura shrimp inside was a little too crispy/crunchy for me. The scallops ontop were also a little too fishy for me. However, I brought the leftovers home to my siblings & they loved the roll. Certainly based on personal preference. I don't think I'd go here just for sushi, hibachi though definitely. read more

I used to really like this place, but I went in with friends tonight and the bartender was beyond rude. A grumpy old guy that didn't want to be there and he yelled at us after we asked about a simple menu item. I would've spent upwards of $100 here, but I just checked out after one drink and left. I'm going to Osaka way better food and service. You should probably think about hiring a bartender that actually enjoys talking to guests and doesn't bark at them. Terrible customer service - grotesque. Place smelled bad too. So, in hindsight, your competition, got nearly $300 from us that could've gone to your business. Ordered two chicken & shrimp hibachi dinners for my son and myself tonight. Chicken was not cooked thoroughly through. My son ate some of it not realizing it, I took two bites and was totally grossed out. I notified the waitress that the chicken was not cooked she asked me if she could bring me some more, I said no thank you. She then charged me for the uncooked chicken and shrimp. Shocked after looking at the bill I asked her to bring me some cooked chicken since I'm paying for it, and she brought me a small side instead of two plates of chicken that was on my bill. I'm usually suspicious of restaurants in malls, but having a sushi craving daughter and far from home, we ventured out to try Kyoto in Worcester MA. We were pleasantly surprised with pleasant decor, a very friendly staff and tasty sushi. The restaurant is primarily set up for Hibachi so my daughter was treated to a show at a near by table and was in awe when the chef lit the vegetables on fire. One observation that my daughter made was that the closer you get to NYC, the smaller the sushi gets. With that said, the sushi is packed with a generous portion of rice so go conservative or you'll end up like me..."rolling out" the door. Overall a great experience here, I've come here for sushi a couple times when I'm out toward the Worcester area. I've always wanted to try to hibachi but my sushi cravings always overpower. The wait staff is always attentive and extremely nice, always making sure my drink was full too which is always a plus. The fried rice is delicious here, I could go here just to eat the fried rice. It's not like any other fried rice I've ever had. Their steak teriyaki is to die for, cooked to perfection. Their sushi is fresh and there's a wide variety. If only I could pick this place and drag it to the sushi desert that is my town! Mai Thai, check. Reasonable priced sushi awesomeness check. Four stars check! I don't need to sit on the floor with my shoes off to enjoy my sushi dinner. I love their non authentic-ness as soon as I tried their Mai Thai and no nonsense sushi, It's worth my long drive down 290, for sure. I would highly recommend eating at the bar though. The one row of overly lit booths in the very back of the restaurant are like that smelly last row on the air plane. sadly they are the only non hibachi seating, and they rot. For some reason and not just here, the bartenders give way better service then that one ball buster, wise ass, that I get stuck with every time I don't sit at the bar. Plus its right near the sushi station, and you can see your sushi get all dressed up for you, like some type of food peeping tom. read more

Kyoto is a great place to go with a crowd if you're looking for a fun night out. The sushi is above average, but the atmosphere and service is what makes this place so great. I haven't come here in years but it's just as good as I remembered. Everything was fresh, delicious, and filled with diverse flavors. Surprisingly this place has only 1 sign outside but the entire place was filled by the time we left. Things I can suggest to get here: Tuni Roll Tuna Sashimi You seriously can't go wrong with those two, the rolls themselves are very decently priced at $5 a roll. I got sushi takeout from here tonight. I ordered a spicy tuna roll and a spider roll. The spicy tuna roll was small, poorly rolled and the quality of the fish was questionable. On top of that, they forgot the spicy part! It was really just a regular tuna roll. The spider roll was fine, but had a weird fishy smell that I couldn't quite figure out. Also, I did not expect it to be fried in tempura as it was not mentioned on the menu. It was not something I would order again. I spent $17 on the two rolls and did not think they were worth it. I've had better sushi elsewhere for a similar price. It made me wish I'd stopped in at Wegman's for sushi on my way home from work! Their rolls are larger, tighter and less expensive. The food is still good, but the place seems dirty and uncared for. There were stacks of plates, utensils and boxes on the hibachi table next to our booth. I could not have asked for more for a dine-in sushi joint in Worcester. Came here with a friend and her young child, were seated immediately and given great service. Our server offered great drink suggestions and was willing to work with our indecisiveness! He even brought out a complimentary ice cream sundae for the little one. We got Tuna Crunch, Kyoto Roll, Dragon Roll, and Philly Roll. We had the small Scorpion Bowl and the Kyoto Special for drinks. All food and drinks were brought out promptly and were exceptional. Everything was fresh, plated well, and delicious. I felt confident enough to order Maki I had never tried before (which is something I cannot say about all local sushi spots). The waiter was attentive throughout the meal and totally engaged with the munchkin, which was great as the evening went on because the restaurant started to get busy. The price was beyond reasonable - $30 for 4 types of special maki rolls and 3 drinks (one of which was the small scorpion -- big enough to share)!? So I've slowly been making my way around to sushi places around Worcester, but there are different levels. There's - Supermarket sushi that I wouldn't feed a starving animal - Sushi that will settle the craving for about a week - Good sushi - And sushi that you pay too much money for, but it's just SO good This sushi falls into the "sushi that will settle the craving for about a week" category. It's not the fanciest place (they do have teppanyaki though), but the sushi is fine. It's nice because it's decently priced at around $5-8 a roll. I had the Arizona roll which was YUM and the tuna, salmon, and fake crab nigiri. This is where the sushi distinctions come into play. I LOVE raw fish. If i could eat it everyday without getting mercury poisoning, i would. This place does NOT have good raw fish. Both my tuna and salmon had a weird texture to them that left me feeling a little uneasy. Thankfully I was fine hours later so no harm, no foul. But if I want raw fish, I guess i'll have to go with "sushi that you pay too much money for, but it's just SO good" a la Baba sushi. But if I just want a quick, cheap fix, I'll be back for some cooked rolls =) read more

The only thing I have tried at Kyoto on several occasions is their Sushi, which is average. The rolls can be pretty tasty because the sauces and other ingredients hide the taste of the poor quality fish. With that in mind, avoid purely fish oriented sushi such as nigiri. The prices are average for sushi. The service is usually fast and friendly. Considering how new the restaurant is the interior is clean and somewhat modern looking. My only complaint other than average food is that the restaurant gets very noisy even with few patrons thanks to their blaring loud TVs. If you are in the market for some relatively inexpensive sushi and don't have high expectations, give it a shot. read more

Waited on hold for over 10 minutes to do a pickup order. It was loud in the background so I repeated my order back to the receptionist. My order was still wrong. Sushi was okay, but not a lot of flavor. Asked for the spicy mayo on the side and it didn't happen. The sushi was cut into big pieces also. Also got chicken teriyaki and it was not very good. The side salad I got was from a bag that was tiny and no toppings (ex. cucumber or tomato) and no dressing given. I won't be going back. read more
