First time we ordered from Yummy Wok. We did a Door Dash order of Beef & Broccoli, Shrimp Mei Fun, 2 egg rolls, shrimp toast, garlic green beans, Teriyaki chicken & the donuts. It was ALL terrible except the beef & broccoli. It was ALL overly greasy (the taste of old grease) & extremely cold when it was delivered. Asked for extra of certain veggies with the Shrimp Mei Fun & was certainly charged. However we literally saw only a very few of those veggies in the dish! Over $60 spent & maybe $10 of it was eaten. Typically a good place in the area for this type of cuisine ( mainly only place). Paid with grub hub ( they accept this) with a order in excess of $100. At pick-up owner said "no-pay" and argued with us we had to pay and there was no order "until" it was shown to them how to see active orders not completed in their app. Food was not ready and no apologies for being rude and making a seen with the customer (us). After an extra 15-20 minutes received order and left -note: still no apology. Get to the party 3 of the dishes we're incorrect, missing egg roles & sauces. Awful food. This has to be the worst Chinese food that I've ever had. Everything tastes like old frying grease. There was cinnamon in the egg roll! Absolutely nasty. If you are looking for traditional Chinese dishes with all of the vegetables possible, this is the place for you. The Hunan chicken was excellent as well as the Rangoon's and egg rolls. I have heard such good reviews about this place. The first time we ordered our food was overcooked. We assumed it was just a off day so we ordered again today. Once again our food was overcooked. We received white rice instead of lomein. Our chicken dishes were overcooked as well as our crab rangoons. Spent $31 for food we couldn't eat. We live 20 minutes away so really don't want to drive back to return our food. This is the last time we will be eating there. read more

One of the friendliest staff you'll even encounter. Their restaurant is always clean, their bathroom is spotless when they were open pre-covid. They make amazing food to the point I want to try everything and not just stick with a favourite. Their shrimp toast is AMAZING. I never even heard of it before them. They even make fried chicken that is so flavoured that even the meat is yellow from the spice. I really recommend them. I love them to death. The lady who calls me her friend always makes my day. Just had my favorite dish there; Mongolian Chicken. This was the first time I ever ate there. It looks promising because they have forsaken the ubiquitous buffet that keeps the populace of eastern KY so obese. Unfortunately I didn't like the meal at all. It was far too bland. Some more hoisin sauce or chili paste may have turned this bland mush into a far more palatable meal. I may eat there again and I will tell them how I like it. So, so good. We have always been loyal to a place across the river that's both well known for good food but notorious for its nasty restaurant. We get Chinese food every Christmas and as a family of five, every dollar counts. When we went to order our take out we realized they had significantly raised their prices, so we felt like it was an open door to try a new place. First let me say that I am knocked out by how clean the facilities are at yummy wok are. Then the food. It stomps the other restaurant. We will never go back unless Yummy Wok gives us a reason! The pineapple chicken is awesome and the price for a similar meal is less now than the nasty place. So glad we tried Yummy Wok! read more

Most local Chinese restaurants are good when they first open but the quality or the cleanliness tends to fade after a year or two. This is not the the case with Yummy Wok. This restaurant is as clean and the food is as high quality as it was when it first opened. There is no food bar so nothing is stale or old. Everything is made fresh to order. This seemed to be a nice Chinese restaurant and I really enjoyed the prompt service. The last time that I visited here (didn't eat what I ordered) was prior to thanksgiving 2014. It was late in the evening, probably near closing time. I had ordered take out and was sitting waiting for my order to be prepared. The staff was cleaning and unfortunately that is where things went horribly wrong. The employee cleaning the stove/grill area was using what appeared to be a really dirty brush on a stick and he was dipping it into a bucket on the floor and he carried the dripping brush right over the woke where the chicken was cooking. Luckily I seen it happen and I just threw away my food right outside the door, I didn't say anything because they don't speak good English and I was ready to go home. read more

This is my favorite Chinese restraunt in Ashland , Ky. Many reviews say the woman is rude. She's not. There is a language barrier and everyone is hustling to make great, hot Chinese food. The only other restraunt that compairs is Casual Chinese in Newport, Ky. Oddly enough the two restraunts have exactly the same floor plan and layout. Which is weird, but, I digress. This isn't a formal restraunt. This is three guys in a tight kitchen, yelling and making culinary Asian magic in their sizzling woks. There is no buffet. Nothing is precooked and sitting under heat lamps. Somethings take longer to cook. Not everything will be brought out at the same time. The drinks are in bottles from a stand up cooler. There are no cups of ice or straws. I think some people get turned off by this. Everything on the menu is awesome! from the hot, greasy street food stall taste of the deep fried shrimp toast to the amazing shrimp and roast pork in golden sauce. And if you have a cold and the weather outside is dark, grey and miserable, nothing will set you straight like the massive steaming bowl of the chicken soup of the East, shrimp and lobster sauce. One spoonful of this warm, clear broth and you will feel whole in your soul. But, don't take my word for it. Took the kids for lunch and got Mongolian Beef, General Tso and Sweet and Sour chicken. The meat was edible but not what I would consider good. The biggest let down was the rice. I can't confirm but I believe the rice was cooked in an old oil based paint can that hadn't been cleaned. It had a chemical/gas/propane taste that was more than any of us could handle and since the rice was mixed with everything else we couldn't eat it. Do yourself a favor and don't venture near this place, go a little further up the street to Flatwoods and there is a decent Chinese buffet (3.5ish stars probably). read more

Horrible!!!!! Went to get food right before closing time they was cleaning the floor and went from cleaning the floor to the back splash of the stove from the same water and brush from the floor and dropped water all over my cooking food. Will never eat there again. read more
