I stopped by Yum's Express in College Park with my husband and sister. I went in first and asked if we could eat inside and the woman at the register said yes. I told her I would grab my family and be right back. When we came back in together, both workers suddenly said "No, no, not three people eating here, takeout only," and had a very rude attitude. We didn't argue, we simply turned around and left. After reading other reviews online, it looks like others have had similar experiences with poor customer service. We used to get Yum's at least once a week, sometimes two and even three times, depending on how the work week was going. Prior to week before last this review never would have been necessary. I get the same meal almost every single time we order from Yum's. Chicken in garlic sauce. I never ask for it to be made differently, I never request substitutions. Leading up to Thanksgiving I was getting over being sick and my throat was torn up from coughing (I could taste just fine before someone assumes that was part of the problem). I wanted my favorite meal but I couldn't handle it spicy because of my throat, so JUST ONE DAMN TIME I asked for it to be made very mild. Normally I enjoy the heat. My husband called and ordered, I heard him repeat my request and I could hear the girl acknowledge it. I don't know if the cook was feeling pissy because of special orders or if he just thought I had no right to ask for a single meal to be slightly different than usual, but the meal I got was so drenched in chili oil that even if I hadn't been sick I would have had trouble eating it. I couldn't swallow a single bite. The chili oil was so thick that a sauce which is usually brown was bright orange instead. It didn't even taste like garlic, and I don't think they added almost any of the brown sauce to it. I asked my husband to call back and let them know what had happened, assuming they'd offer to fix it. Nope. The girl on the phone just gave us some BS about how that's just how their orders are made, like I don't eat that at least once a week after my 12 hour shift. He got off the phone and I tried again to at least eat a little bit of it, but with my throat all scratched up it wasn't possible. So I called the restaurant to find out what happened. I got the same girl, same hapless garbage answer, and then she asked me what I wanted her to do. Like I'm supposed to do her job. I said if they weren't going to offer to remake it then I wanted the cost of the one meal removed from the receipt because it was inedible to me and not what I ordered. To do that, she said I had to bring the food back. So now I'm a liar apparently. I asked if she was serious and said no I am not coming all the way back out there to give her some chicken. And at this point I don't trust anything coming out of that kitchen. I asked for one damn meal to be made less spicy than usual one time and I get punished for it and treated like some scammer? Screw Yum's, we will NEVER eat there again. We have always been good customers and we get treated like this? Sorry but I have self respect and dignity and I'm happy to save the money. It would have taken no effort to make this right. Maybe tell your cook that a small request one time isn't the end of the world. read more

Not to pull the race card but my friend and I are both black and walked in, to place an order. The lady had an attitude immediately. When a white couple walked in she was showing all 32 teeth and all of a sudden was very welcoming. My friend and I both ordered the general tos chicken which was meant to be spicy. After my recent running arounds I was in no mood to cook for myself. I had been craving some Chinese food for a while and I was happy to see that this is really close to home. I pulled in and found a spot in the shared parking lot. Walk inside and take a quick look over the menu, even though I already knew what I was going to get. I placed an order of General Tso's Chicken and some fried rice. The wait was a bit more than I expected. Usually when you get Chinese food it is a quick transaction and you are out the door. However, what I came to notice is that a lot of people in the area phone their order in ahead of time and pick it up on their way to wherever. Order is finally ready and I head out the door to home. Get home and notice that there are no utensils. Lucky for me I had chopsticks at home. I start to dig in to this monster portion of chicken with it's equally monster portion of fried rice. It was all good. Spice was right, great overall taste and texture...until I got a tendon or gristle. Turned my stomach, had to quit. Fun thing though, I found out my cat is a HUGE fan of fried rice. read more

2020 truth: this place just ain't hitting the same anymore. I began noticing quality go down before COVID, and now, at this point, the quality drop is undeniable. My last order was the 21 shrimp box, and what I got instead was a 21 piece of disappointment. I opened up my food container and couldn't tell if the breaded meat was 100% shrimp, or a mix of fish and shrimp nuggets because some of the food appeared unidentifiable. No bueno. It wasn't tasty either. I'm saddened because I wanted to give this place another fair shot after being disappointed with the shrimp fried rice not too long ago, but it is what it is. I love Chinese food but I'm picky with the fried rice. I can say this fried rice lives up to my standards and I really enjoyed my meal. The only reason I'm rating them 4 stars is because of the Crab Rangoon it was a little too sweet for my liking. Other than that my wings were tasty, and so was the sweet and sour chicken. We ordered last night from this place. The spring roll and fried wontons were very good (they came with a nice sauce). The food came hot via Dood Dash which was also a plus. The Orange Chicken was also good. The Kung Pao Chicken was unfortunately not very good (little flavor and the chicken was very tough). Just a hole in the wall American Chinese carry-out, but in an area like Prince George's County that SHOULD have a ton of good Chinese restaurants, there are really very few I would want to go to. Most of them just suck. That said, I got the Pork Fried Rice (my go-to at any restaurant), the Chicken with Cashews, and some Egg Rolls. My only complaint was the quality of chicken might not be top notch (a few more chewier bits than usual) but, for the area and what you usually get, this was really pretty good overall. Shrimp toast was served on a bed of lettuce, and had a nice outer crisp with an average sized layer of shrimp cake. I tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt, but it's not worth the trouble. I've had coworkers sing the praises of heaven about Yum's but my experiences were always underwhelming. The first time I ordered here, the food was mediocre. It wasn't the worst, as far as carryouts go, but it certainly wasn't the best by a long shot. The second go left even more to be desired. I ordered through Grubhub and ended up having to call to clarify something about their menu, since it still had a soda as an order option, yet described it as "temporarily unavailable." Uhm, what? Just take it off the menu altogether! I actually called to clarify whether the item was in stock, and the language barrier was significant. The cashier didn't seem to understand what I was asking "Do you have strawberry soda in stock?" so I gave up and ordered something different. I placed the order at 11:30am, but was given a delivery time of 1:15. I called at 1:20 when the food hadn't arrived and the cashier was again rude and simply said "I'll call you back." When I asked her if she was going to take my phone number, she hung up on me. I called back 5 minutes later and she simply said "it's on the way." I got my food at 1:30pm. Waiting 90 minutes for delivery is excessive. I will not be ordering here again. The food is simply not good enough to outweigh the poor customer service. read more

One of the nicest Chinese restaurants in this area. Great service and great food. The people that work there are so nice and friendly, and the food is so good. The lunch/dinner specials are the best you get one entree with fried rice or white rice and an egg roll. Me and my boyfriend always end up getting an entree with chicken wings and fried rice. It's a lot of food for 2 people and we enjoy it. I never gotten delivery l, I always done pick up and I never had a problem with it. The one thing I would say is parking is weird. All the parking in front of the restaurant are handcap and only a few (like 4-5) spots are for regular cars but it gets packed at times. Also it's confusing how the street or the shopping center road in front of the restaurant is a one way, it's confusing. read more

Quick and convenient Chinese takeout...no frills here. Very friendly staff who do a great job multitasking since they're quite busy. I come here for the chicken wings, which are my current fave here in DC (Kenny's are too big). The mumbo sauce -- like all the other Chinese takeout places in DC -- is not tasty to me at all. Fast delivery, but only semi-decent Chinese food. The fried rice was a bit hard when I got my food, and my friend's Hunan Chicken had no flavor or spice whatsoever. I ordered from here after seeing good reviews on Yelp. I liked being able to view the menu and order online via www.campusfood.com. I placed my order around 7:15 pm on a Wednesday night, and did not get my food until 8:30 pm. I was disappointed with the slow delivery after hearing everyone else say it was fast. The food itself was decent. I ordered a General Tso's combination platter and Moo Shu Vegetables. I was shocked at how much food I was given! The portion sizes are very large. The General Tso's was tasty without being too spicy and was white meat. For the Moo Shu, I received a whole rectangular take out container of vegetables and five or six wraps to go with it. Because my order was greater than $12, I also received an extra egg roll. I will probably order from Yum's again, but I don't expect anything amazing from the restaurant. read more

12/6/15 Their food is pretty decent for take out. Unfortunately their customer service is terrible. They never deliver in less than 45 minutes even if you live or work 10 minutes away. I placed an order and it didn't arrive until an hour and 15 minutes later. This is after multiple calls were made to the business to inquire about my food. The driver finally arrived and strolled in, on his phone...on speaker (I'm at work mind you). I inquired with him about compensation for the amount of time they took and he asked me to call the business. When I called the business....again, I was hung up on. This is completely unacceptable.
