We ate family style and ordered the scallion pancakes, the spicy sesame paste tofu, the spicy oil wonton pork, the chive and pork dumplings and the sesame balls (filled with red bean paste). Total (not including tip) came out to approximately $49. What's Hot - Menu. Excellent. It's also written in Chinese in addition to English. For those of us familiar with traditional ethnic Chinese food, a menu written in Chinese is a good sign. They have traditional Taiwanese and Chinese food like scallion pancakes, sesame balls, beef noodle soup, soup dumplings, etc... Very good variety and there appears to be something for everyone, possibly with the exception of vegan dishes.. - Quality. Pretty good. Their scallion pancake was soft, not too oily, and not too salty. I prefer the scallion pancake to have been a bit more thick and flaky, but that's my personal preference. To be fair, still delicious. Their chive and pork dumplings definitely had a delicious chive flavor. Substantial and the wrapper was not too thick. Their spicy sesame paste tofu had a good flavor and substantive. The chili oil wontons were not too spicy and had a good flavor. Again, my personal preference would have been for the dumplings to have been more substantive, but still pretty decent. - Service. Pretty good. It appears most, if not all their staffers, speak Chinese (Mandarin), which was also helpful, because I specifically ordered in Chinese. I asked them about the spice level, because I wanted to ensure it would not be too spicy for my friend. - Price. Pretty good value for menu and portions. - Location. It's pretty easy to find. Also within convenient walking distance to the Silver Spring metro. The inside space is pretty good. Tables can seat a minimum of 2, all the way up to 8. What's Not - Quality. The sesame balls are smaller than I expected. They're the rough approximation of a ping pong ball, maybe smaller. I was disappointed, because I like sesame balls that are substantial. - Service. I specifically asked for soup spoons, because we were eating dumplings. Instead, they gave me regular spoons. Not all the dishes come out in the order you hope. For example, main dishes may come out before the appetizers. This is going to be dependent on your personal preference. - Parking. I think this place delivers on fast service, good food and reasonable prices. Their food comes out shortly after you order and their cuisine I actually find to be unique. I also feel like it's rare to be able to out these days and get a $12 entree where you feel like you had a good meal. Their wings, yibin spicy noodles, soup dumplings, beef noodle soup and scallion pancakes are good. There's easy parking in the garage across the street. The menu has lots of options with pictures which was very helpful since it was our first time trying many of the dishes. The waiter was also patient and helped us choose a few great options. Taste: We ordered the duck noodle soup, beef noodle soup, and seafood noodle soup, along with the spicy dumplings, spicy cucumber, and pan-fried dumplings. Everything was absolutely finger-licking delicious. The broths were rich and flavorful, the noodles were perfectly cooked, and the dumplings were packed with taste. Despite the excellent reviews here, we were rather disappointed in the food. The options are quite vast, but the only food option we rated above a 3/5 was the seafood shumai. The noodle soups were on the saltier side with a bit of bitterness that I wasn't used to in noodle soups. On a mild fall evening, we stumbled upon Yu Noodles in Silver Spring and stopped in for a quick bite. The menu is eclectic, not your typical noodle dishes or Chinese (American) dishes - this place has authentic stuff. Shout out for the sesame spicy tofu - a dish of cold spicy sauce over a solid brick of soft tofu. This is something that isn't available most places, and for this alone, I'll be coming back often. The sweet and sour shrimp appetizer also stands out because of the grilled (not fried) shrimp. The dumplings and black rice/coconut milk/mango dessert also hit the spot. It was only after we left that I realized we didn't order any noodle dishes. All the more reason to stop back ASAP! Found this while in town for work and my coworkers needed something close to our hotel and delicious - and Yu Noodles fit the bill! It was a bit of a chilly night, so getting some warm broth and noodles was exactly what we needed. We shared the traditional soup dumplings and got the bao buns. The soup dumplings were top tier - truly so flavorful and fun! The bao buns were okay - not my favorite in terms of the filling, but they were still nice to try. We all tried different main dishes and (I definitely don't remember what was what) but we all enjoyed the different offerings. We ordered you tiao (Chinese fried breadsticks), steamed veggie buns, sticky rice and yibin spicy dry noodles. I didn't eat any of the Chinese fried breadstick but my dining companion enjoyed them. They were not made in house, and likely mass produced. Steamed veggie buns were good, decent amount of filling. I have been to the Yu Noodles in Rockville, but the ambiance in silver spring is way nicer. They have more seating and the decorating/setting is just nicer in general. The restaurant is located a street across from the major downtown silver spring center, and there's tons of parking options. My friend and I shared their soup dumplings, peanut noodles, and beef noodle soup. The soup dumplings were solid. There could be a little more soup in them, but the wrapping wasn't too thick and the meat was delicious. We both enjoyed our noodle dishes as well. It's a unique dessert, very similar to the one I grew up eating (except filling is different and shape is different). Brrr...it's cold out there, isn't it? Out and about doing errands on one of these frosty days, I decided I needed to warm up with soup dumplings from Yu Noodles. For those who don't know, soup dumplings are not dumplings that go in soup, but dumplings that have soup INSIDE. It takes a little practice, but the idea is to bite off a corner of the dumpling and then slurp the hot soup from inside. Extra points if you don't dribble any down your shirt! The dish comes with a little bowl with ginger shavings, into which you pour soy sauce and then dip. But I find the dumplings so good, I like to eat them all on their own. No need to take notes - all of this is written down for you on cards on the table. I did also try one of the soups - one that looked delectable with a fried chicken leg and a slick of bright green bok choi. But the taste was bland and there is no need to have soup on top of soup dumplings! If you must have another dish, try something different. read more

The scallion pancakes was delish - flaky and enough scallions to really taste them. And the soup dumplings! Yes! Fantastic! Great amount of filling, very flavorful, and the skin was strong enough to be picked up but not too chewy. The noodles and rice dishes were also really good. The sesame paste noodles came with not just the minced pork, but an egg and I think cucumbers and carrots. It was not as strongly sesame flavored as I expected. The brown sugar soy sauce noodles were spicy, which was yummy, but didn't really have the sweetness I expected. The rice was my favorite - the minced pork and egg were complemented by cabbage in some kind of miso-ish dressing. It was super tasty! Like other Asian restaurants in Silver Spring, YuNoodles is an OK Asian cuisine place that will satisfy your cravings if you do not want to go farther for a more authentic flavor. My partner and I went recently for lunch after a friend (whose recommendations I generally trust) recommended it. Overall, it's not bad, but having just recently lived in Japan where there is no dearth of good Chinese food, I found everything mediocre. The cucumber dishes for example, should be simple with maybe some soy and vinegar dressing, but they doused this dish in sesame sauce which makes it too sweet. My husband had some spicy beef noodle soup dish, which was OK, but overall I found the broth to be surprisingly bland. I ordered some dumplings in spicy sauce, which was probably the best dish, but also was a tad bit too salty. The service was decent though, prompt and friendly, overall it's worth a try if you're in the area, but there are better options if you're willing to go farther away. One of my friends and I live in downtown silver spring and wanted to check out this local spot. I love it here! Quaint and very cute and comfortable space! Customer service was great and they even provided us some recommendations! First time trying this spot out and I give it a Thumbs Up! I ordered the Chicken Leg Quarter Noodle Soup and the Roasted Duck appetizer. Both dishes were delicious, with the noodle soup being the star. The noodle soup was super warming and comforting on this cold afternoon. The flavor profile was a bit mild on the broth, but in all good. The chicken is what saved this dish! It was grilled and cooked to perfection. It was so tender, juicy and remained that way from the time picking up my order to arriving back home. The "To-Go" dish packaging was quite impressive as well. They have this sort of cool packaging that allows for you to have the broth packaged and separate from the main ingredients such as the noodles, veggies and protein. This allows for everything to remain fresh while transporting your goods and nothing is overcooked-soggy....like the noodles.... something I can't stand when ordering noodle or ramen dishes to go. lol. Also, it was fun to put it all back together and add a few spices at home to doctor it up with more flavor and heat.... the way I like it. :-) Overall, a great first impression and I will be back to try out some of their other dishes. I was not impressed with Yu Noodles in terms of food or service. We came here on a Saturday for lunch and it wasn't busy. We were seated right away. The waitress poured our first cups of water and then left us with a carafe of cucumber water for self-refills. The table also already had the soy sauce, vinegar, and chili oil condiments to minimize service. The ambiance is nice with the modern lighting decor, golden cups, and a decorative mural featuring Asian architecture. Pop music was also playing in the background. We ordered the Quarter Duck appetizer ($13), Pork Soup Dumplings ($10), and Steamed Pork Buns ($9). The food was brought out in an above-average, but not unreasonable, amount of time. Once the food was brought out, we were never checked on again. We had asked for a refill of the water, but it seems that the waitress forgot and we didn't get it until close to the end of the meal. The level of service provided was super minimal, it was more like a cafe-type of service. The quarter duck appetizer was dry. There was sauce at the bottom of the bowl, but it was served with a fork instead of a spoon so there was no way to scoop up any extra sauce and moisten the duck. The flavor of the soup dumplings was good, but I was disappointed with the size and broth amount. These are the tiniest soup dumplings I have ever had. There was hardly any broth inside the dumplings - there was just enough broth to keep them moist, but in no way would I categorize them as soup dumplings based on the skimpy drop of soup inside. It comes with six dumplings (six for $10), so I suppose the small dumpling size is warranted for the price, but the size is more akin to an appetizer. The steamed pork buns were the biggest letdown. I'm used to the more traditional char siu (bbq pork) filling, and this was not that. The bun was nice and soft, fluffy, but the inside quickly got soggy because of the filling. It was more like a wonton/steamed meatball filling which was super bland. I have never felt the need to add soy sauce to a steamed bun... until now. Maybe it's my own fault for going to a place called "Yu Noodles" and not ordering the noodles, but none of their noodle dishes piqued my interest. I love Yu Noodles up in Rockville, so I was thrilled to learn there was a closer location to my house. There's a parking garage directly across the street if you don't live close enough to walk. This location is 3-4x the size of the Rockville location, so plenty of seating and lots of windows and light. They were very busy when we came in on a Friday night, but we were seated quickly and our server was really friendly and apologetic about the slight wait for food. We got garlic cucumbers which were a little spicy, though helped cut the spice of the Sichuan beef soup with noodles and tender slices of beef. However, Yu Noodles is a much needed addition to Silver Spring as we have been lacking anything non-Mandarin Chinese that other neighborhoods across Montgomery County and D.C. have. There was an UberEats BOGO deal so we got two of the Chicken Leg Noodles Soup, Sour & Spicy Cold Noodles with Beef, Noodles in Scallion Oil with Chicken, and a Fried Cruller Filled Mochi. Everything was very delicious and we look forward to eating here more through dine-in, takeout, and delivery. Great dumpling & noodle shop right across from the Wayne street garage in DTSS. I've been twice, both times I had the rainbow dumpling set but this time I made a note that my favorite was the red ones (the peppercorn), though they are all good. Last night we had N5, dry noodles with minced pork, and they are addictive. The first few bites I was like "these are good" and by the end I was like "nom nom nom". I also enjoyed the chive & pork pan fried dumplings. Small but very tasty and the sauce they bring with them is a good mix. I wasn't personally as keen on the mochi brown sugar, the brown sugar filling was a bit too "burnt" for me (but I also don't like caramel) though my husband enjoyed these. This is the first of the Yu Noodle locations I have checked out -- and I love the grand opening fanfare they've got outside of their entrance. On the way inside, I noticed a sign with some specials going on, including a rainbow dumpling deal, that includes two of each of the three dumplings: peppercorn spicy, pork, and shrimp/pork. It was a weeknight, so when I entered it was completely empty (not for long), so I let one of the staff lead me to a table in front of the window. I was waiting on someone, so I just drank water for a few minutes and quickly scanned the menu in preparation. I knew I was going to get the rainbow dumplings... but what else?? The friend I was waiting for arrived and so we ordered the dumplings... the peppercorn ones were my favorite I think. The spicy kick gave them the extra flavor burst. They were all wonderful though! I decided to get the Yibin Spicy Dry Noodle -- now THAT was spicy! I managed to finish the bowl without feeling extra full... it was the perfect amount after splitting the dumplings.
