The food and service here makes me proud to share a name with this place. It's a very pleasant and cozy place with an elegant ambiance. Lovely for when you're feeling bougie on a Saturday evening. My party ordered the French onion soup, Escargot de Bourgogne, steak au poivre, Yves cheeseburger, Moules Provençale, crème brûlée, and the Gran Papa cocktail.
The French onion soup came with a strong savory sweetness. This is the definition of comfort food. The cheese had a strong flavor to accompany the broth and the onions became nice and soft so it's as if they melt between your teeth as you chew. It was generally satisfying and it made me even more enthusiastic for the main course.
The escargot was also prepared very nicely. The snail itself had a light oily undertone and it was almost adjacent to a seafood kind of flavor. The chew was very satisfying, especially with the texture that the bread underneath it adds to the mix. The entire composition was light in texture but heavy in taste: enjoyable is an understatement.
This steak was some of the best steak I've had. I'm quite a carnivorous eater so I've come to get pretty picky with my meats, but the quality of this steak flew beyond my expectations. The steak was packed with juice and flavor, the cut was tender in the greatest sense of the word, and the sauce came to seal the deal. The sauce gave me an A1 vibe but creamier with a bit more pizzazz when it comes to seasoning.
The fries to accompany the steak worked as a formidable sidekick. The fries are cut very thin, but they come with lots of texture. Crispy with a light crunch, lots of potato on the interior, and they hold the flavor of the sauces very nicely. You can tell they weren't overdone in the fryer. Very nicely done.
The Yves cheeseburger is simple, but effective. The cut of beef is thick and moist, so it takes the center stage both in terms of flavor and texture. The cheese and caramelized onions also did their job with providing some nuance to the taste in the background. The hun they chose for this burger also works really well with holding everything together and complimenting the texture of the meat. When you say less is more, think of this burger.
The mussels were also very well done. The portion was generous to say the least and every bite that came out of each shell was just as good as the first. They manage to do great with making something small taste like so much more. The sauce underneath the mussels also caught my attention: it complemented the flavor of the mussels nicely and the taste lasts for what feels like a lifetime.
The crème brûlée to finish the feast was a great option for me. The crystal syrup surface pulls most of the weight when it comes to sweetness and the creamy interior finishes the race with a soft and delicious experience. This dessert is amazing for people like myself who aren't into excessively sweet desserts; it reaches a nice middle ground.
The Gran Papa cocktail is sharp and captivating even without alcohol. It's strong with flavors of ginger and lime. It gave me a woodsy vibe with a bit of carbonation, which was very interesting. I would buy this in a 2 liter bottle if I could.
Generally, this food was worth the price. There's attention to detail, great presentation, friendly service, and lots of love put into every dish. read more
