Our 2nd grade classes saw The Charlotte's Web Play with Music and it was TERRIFIC as Charlotte would spin on her web. All the characters were great. But Charlotte and her spinning acrobats stole the show. It was Cirque de Soleil style and I didn't expect it. What a phenomenal production! This was such an inclusive experience in every way. It was family friendly and catered to every member of the audience regardless of age. It was so fun to see several young girls in their Cinderella dresses and how engaged they were to the actors and the performance in its entirety. The performance was in spoken word, ASL, and subtitles. The subtitle font was large and legible from every seat in the house. The theater is very intimate and so every ticket is a great ticket. There was a perfectly timed intermission which had a special feature that I have not encountered before. The feature was the ability to preorder beverages and snacks before the performance and then pick it up at the concession stand at intermission with no wait time. The menu was so fun, with names lending nods to the performance. There was a red carpet area for pictures, complete with a ring light for perfect lighting. I didn't get a chance to experience this area given that it was quite a hit with the younger members of the audience. Parking wasn't too bad of a hustle. We opted for paid parking at the garage across the street. There were some closures and cones around closer parking spots due to debris from the storm and some construction. I definitely recommend this performance and will be on the lookout for others like it! read more

I was worried I'd be cold in the theatre, so I brought a blanket... Didn't need it, as it was actually quite toasty. But, It wasn't stuffy, which was nice that they had good circulation. The seats were comfortable, but the legroom was lacking. I like that when the show is over the staff don't kick you out of the theatre immedietly. Actually when I have been there, there has been a panel discussion with the actors, which was quite interesting. The Bar and refreshments change things up to match the theme of the show, and I loved that! There are large windows an both floors of lounges, so I recommend coming early and enjoying the venue for a bit before the show begins. read more

Took my wife on Valentines (Saturday) for a matinee. It was pouring rain and chilly when we walked in and received such a warm welcome. The layout was explained perfectly while our tickets were scanned. The room was filled with the sound of a young woman singing beautifully while playing acoustic guitar. We grabbed a drink at the bar and moved into one of the most comfortable theaters we've ever been in. The production was amazing but the experience even better. Highly recommend. read more

ZACH Theatre is a true gem, and watching A Christmas Carol here has become one of my favorite holiday traditions! The location is fantastic--walking distance to great bars and restaurants for pre- or post-show food and drinks. Parking is convenient, with ample, reasonably priced lots around the theater, plus the option to park further into the neighborhood if needed. The ushers are always friendly, and the festive atmosphere with music and holiday decorations makes every visit extra special this time of year. We've seen two shows at this theater so far. The Christmas Carol (2021) and The Sound of Music (2022). Both shows were phenomenal! Honestly, when we first moved to Austin, I looked up shows and ticket prices and thought it must be overpriced for what they could offer. Boy was I wrong! The venue is small-medium sized. I feel like it offers intimate seating and great views. The productions and performances we've attended are top notch! Music, lights, acting, customer service...all fantastic. Tips: You can preorder drinks/snacks from bar for quick pickup during intermission. And the womens bathroom line can be a long snake-around, but it usually moves quickly. read more

Thanks to the Yelp Elite Squad, I was able to catch opening night of Noises Off at the Zach after winning a ticket giveaway. Immediately I was impressed how easy parking was, and that it was only $10. We walked up to the box office and there was only 1 person working with a decent line. We arrived 25 minutes before show time, and it ended up being okay but I was nervous. There were some staff members just standing around so maybe they could have put another person in the box office. I did enjoy the brief live music as well. Once we got our tickets, we headed directly in the theater and I remarked to my sister how cozy and intimate it was. I really like that for plays and musicals because you feel closer to the production! Our seats were great, dead center and the production was fabulous. We were laughing hysterically the entire time. During the first intermission, I went to the men's room and the line was quite long. A product of only one restroom I suppose. So just plan accordingly. Same with the concession line, it was very long before the show and very long at intermission, so I couldnt get anything until the second intermission. And at that point the show was basically over. They do have a pre-order system which I would have loved to and even paid extra to use but apparently you have to talk to a bartender to figure out the system, and I couldnt get there. So that was a bit annoying. All in all, we enjoyed our experience at the Zach but there were some minor inconveniences. read more

This is a fabulous intimate venue with not a bad seat in the house. We've previously have seen A Christmas Carol and Dracula pre covid. We were looking forward to returning this year for their Rockin Christmas Carol performance. Parking is a breeze if you arrive early and once inside the volunteers will gladly assist you if you have any questions. There are two full bars that will get you in the ho-ho mood. Like previous years the show was fantastic. The cast includes a few veterans including Scrooge and the ghost of Christmas past! The music includes Christmas standards, rap, rock, and wait for it, Pit Bull. If you have the holiday blues or are fretting over what gift to buy uncle Larry then A Christmas Carol will lift your spirits and you will leave filled with comfort and joy! Be aware, masks are required when seated and you need to show proof of vaccination or a negative test to enter. read more

I can't believe I've lived in Austin so long, and only just now made it to the Zach theater. Last night I saw a very entertaining production, Head Over Heels, with musical direction of the band by Rock-N-Roll Hall of Famer and Go-Go bassist Kathy Valentine! loved everything about the experience. Not a bad seat in the house. The quality of the production was higher than expected. The icing on the cake was they had a DJ spinning fun music after which kept the party going for awhile. Came here to see noises off, and it was fabulous! Ambiance: 4/5 I really love how casual this theater is. No formal dress code although most folks were business casual ish when I went (jeans +nice top / sundress). It's also amazing because there are not a lot of seats in the theater so no matter what you have a good seat! There is a bar outside the theater and somewhere to get snacks which you are allowed to bring in. I wish the seats had cup holders, this was a small bummer. Play: 4/5 It was a great show! The audience all had a good time and it looked like the cast had a lot of fun too! The play was great and getting to our seats was easy/ a fantastic staff at this theater. It was my 2nd time at Zach Theater. Both times I had great experience. The theater hall is comfortable and Inviting. Medium sized hall with well designed seating arrangements with excellent view from every angle. The hall acoustics were good. The Staff was warm and welcoming. Hall/ Bathrooms/Concession areas were clean. The ushers were prompt and helpful. Parking was easy and very little walk from parking to hall. I went there to see the comedy play "Noises Off". From the very start to the end, the production was quite captivating. The play was divided into 3 scenarios and each one was very quite good. I particularly loved 2nd one. The actors were very talented and totally into their characters giving impeccable and powerful performances. It was a long show with tons of dialogues. The timing in a comedy is very crucial and and the Actors were delivering punchlines with impeccable timing . Their chemistry was clearly visible !! We were laughing throughout the show. slight Con : The spot light on the director character was sometimes not on...so it was confusing the audience as of where the voice was coming from. Overall a great experience - a must go for comedy theater lovers. read more

I was very excited to watch a play here as I love theatre and am new to Austin. This place didn't disappoint, easy to find, huge building with a very roomy theatre and comfortable seats. There is paid parking available and some expensive snacks (don't get the popcorn or cookie but the yogurt pretzels and iced tea mixed with lemonade were good!). I've always liked this place. I've come for several Broadway shows already. I was lucky to come again because I signed up for a ticket giveaway on Yelp and I was chosen to get tickets. I was able to see noises off. Very interesting show at first I was kind of lost with it, but then I started to understand it more and it was hilarious. By the end of the night you come out of there, cracking up and loving the show. They do have a full-service bar with snacks. The people who work there are very polite and everyone is very helpful when signing your seats or anything that you need as well. read more

Nice theatre! Saw the Broadway musical Head Over Heels here and the theatre is fairly cozy but quite vertical so honestly, every seat is a great seat to have. I was in the 3rd row off to the right so I felt really close to the actors. Sound mixing was a bit wonky at times, sometimes I was unable to hear the actors singing over the music, but that's more on the sound engineer than the venue itself. This venue is like, part of the soul of Austin. AND they have parking???? What could be better? The stage is gorgeous and the seats are comfortable. The production value is fantastic - amazing lights, sounds, and surprises (Disco balls? Yes please!) It's not a huge theater, but every seat has a near perfect view! When you walk in, the box office is to the right and there is a cafe/concession to the left. There's a pretty decent sized lobby to sit while you want for doors to open or if you got food from the concession. For the show I went to, they had themed concessions that matched the show, which I thought was super cute. The inside of the theater is fairly small, but I personally like that because it feels like there isn't a bad seat in the house. The only problem with it being so small is that sometimes it felt a bit like community theater instead of a professional show. That's why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. read more

I had the pleasure of attending this play due to Yelp and it was amazing. The customer service here is just great from the front desk, to the concession workers, and even the employees that helped us find our seats. We felt so welcomed. Zach Theatre partnered with Deaf Austin's Theatre and the entire production was beautiful. This was my daughters first play and she loved every minute of it. The cast utilized every inch of the stage and it was neat how they even had scenes from where the audience was seated. There wasn't a dull moment during this play. We loved the costumes, props and all the emotion that each actor/actress brought to the stage. The snacks are also delicious...we tried the popcorn, Cinderella cookies and a mock cocktail. I've been to the Zach Theatre over a dozen times in my ten years and I've never been disappointed. This is such a beautiful establishment that is very well kept from the ground keeping to the bathrooms. When you walk in you are always greeted by friendly well dressed staff. They are always polite and willing to help. Inside their is usually some type of performance going on in the lobby (mostly singing). This is a family friendly event, while most dress up, feel free to come as you are. I was one of the lucky few elite Yelpers who received a ticket to the Sound Of Music. I was hoping beyond hope to be chosen as this is one of my favorite movies. Julie Andrews is a legend! My contact person Nicole Shiro (www.motleycrewmedia) was fantastic. She responded to my emails promptly and even gave me a choice about where to sit for the show: on stage or house seating. Of course I took on stage seats. I mean I sang in the choir and I know every word to every song and they might just ask me to join in right?!? LOL! Well I didn't get asked to join in any numbers BUT the show was very interactive. They were playing music before the show, they had stage guests dance in a number, and after intermission there was a little sing along. It was all I could do to stay seated but I belted out those tunes as loudly as I could. Anyway, enough about me. Haha! I was throughly impressed with the stage AND the cast members. They both sang and played instruments in the little onstage orchestra. For example, the character of Sister Berthe played the trumpet and flugelhorn. While the character of Admiral von Schreiber played the bass, accordion, and the cornet! What a über talented group. The tables that were on stage were used as parts of the set. Characters sang from atop them and danced and walked around through them.The sectioned off the bottom 3-4 rows of the house chairs so that you could see over the tables. I would suggest trying to get table seat if you can. I was at table 6 which was a great table. If you are getting house seats, try and get up a little higher in the back. That's just my opinion in case you have kids with you as the lower seats might impede their view. Overall, I thought the show was fantastic. I was lucky enough to win a set of tickets but the show is so good I might even go again!! read more

Today I came here to watch the Jungle Book with my son. Of all the years living in the ATX, I had never been to this theater. However, thanks to the tickets I received from Yelp, I was able to go to this performance. When we walked in the theater, we were greeted promptly and shown to our seats. On the way to our seats, we passed a snack area that had water, beer and other snacks. Although the tickets we had were in the front row, there is literally no bad seat in the theater. The performance was 45 minutes in length and all the performers in the play were excellent. To my surprise, the roles of the young wolves and monkey in the play were played by young children who did a great job. After the play, the audience was invited to take photos with the cast of the play. This venue is small but nice and clean and has friendly staff. read more

Just saw a Christmas carol last night and I have to say the play was absolutely phenomenal. I expected to sit there while listening to Christmas music the entire time, but I was completely wrong. They tell the story of Ebenezer Scrooge in such a classic way with an amazingly modern twist. The music is so contemporary containing songs from artist such an Madonna, Michael Jackson, Lizzo, Bruno Mars, The Black eyed peas and so many more artist. I really like how it felt like a Christmas play by brining the holiday spirit,yet they made it so relatable to modern times. If you have not seen this play definitely go! You will be laughing and dancing the entire time. Great actors, amazing voices and overall a phenomenal show. Update: I went to see the Janice Joplin okay and it was amazing. I wasn't sure what to think going into it, but Zach theater does an amazing job adding a twist to all of these plays. If you have not gone to see this show get your tickets. It is definitely one of a kind that makes you want to stand and dance. read more

I got a pair of tickets for "Noise Off" a Theatrical Comedy Show through Yelp Elite events! We arrived a few minutes after 7pm and found plenty of parking at the Theater it was $10 which wasn't bad! If you're not in a rush there is plenty of street parking nearby the Austin High School. I didn't know what to expect, but the Check in process at the Box Office went smoothly grabbed our tickets and found our seats with the help of the lovely Zach Theater employees! The seats were tight, but comfortable and the Audio & Visual in the theater was excellent! Drinks & Snacks were available they had decent options to satisfy your thirst & hunger! My first time here and overall it was a great experience I would definitely come again! Shout out to Nicole Shiro from Zach Theater for the tickets and Yelp Austin for giving Yelp Elites to enjoy more shows in ATX! read more

Oh my gosh! This is probably one of the best things I've done in Austin since I've lived here. My boyfriend and I went to the Sound of Music play, at the Zach theatre, and it was absolutely fantastic. The actors were amazing. Such great singing, this could've been a Broadway play. We had seats on stage, so it was super interactive. Such a great place for a date night, activity with family, or even just to come solo. We were so excited for this play of the sound of music because we were going to Austria in a couple months and wanted to get in the mood for our trip, and all the music and acting definitely got us in that mood.
