This office is full of the kindest, most loving, skilled, and welcoming staff-- from the orthodontist to the technicians to the front desk folks to the financial person. Over the many years I came here as an adult getting braces, and brought my three kids here, the staff knew us and cared for us by name and were tailored to each of our needs. I came to this practice with a lot of dental anxiety, and they were compassionate and supportive while I worked on my comfort level. A truly top notch practice. My only regret is I think I finished my braces a tad early and we mismanaged the first weeks of my retainers, so my teeth aren't as perfect as they were the day my braces came off. Something I regret. I've been a nightly retainer wearer in the years since to keep things as aligned as possible, but I do regret how we handled that transition. All that said, I whole-heartedly recommend Dr. Zachary and his staff, and I wish I'd sent this sooner! read more

ZERO STARS! I hate writing negative reviews and that is why it took me so many months to write this but my deteriorating dental condition made me finally sit down to write this review so that I could at least tell people what happened before anyone else is a victim to this business. I want to acknowledge the incredible staff: the receptionists and the dental assistants are absolute gems, treating patients with kindness and respect. Unfortunately, Dr. Zachary is a greedy, money-hungry monster! He uses cheap putty technology whereas most orthos have moved on to the accurate scanning technology for creating retainers. Once my teeth shifted from the nightly retainers he made me, I contacted him to let him know and he just told me to keep wearing them. But they kept getting worse and the retainers were starting to bend and crack but no matter what would happen, he did not care. Ultimately when I just showed up at his office and pleaded to see him to look at my teeth and see the worsening condition, he kept rolling his eyes Even though at that time I was very diplomatic with him: said please and thank you, complimented him for the things he did do right, because I had the hope he was going to help me that time still. Then he flashed a light on my teeth for 2 seconds and told me he wouldn't help me. And then said if you don't like me just go to someone else. Excuse me? Start fresh elsewhere???? Leaving me $6,000+ poorer!!! I could not believe what I was hearing! Literally I was in shock!! Go to someone else!? Hello!? You took thousands of dollars from me and wasted 2 and a half years of my life driving back and forth to you and now you tell me just go somewhere else to start fresh and I am out of $6,000+ dollars. My teeth are a disaster! There are huge gaping holes where food gets stuck. I can only chew on one side of my mouth now because there is distance between my teeth on the right side from the gaps that he left by putting brackets that he didn't even use for more than a month but left them there for 10 months, because he does such sloppy work. I just kept trusting him thinking that maybe there is a method to his madness but nope! Turns out he is just incompetent. And I am paying the price for his negligence and greed! Now I have to deal with seeking expensive corrective treatment that I cannot afford. I wish so badly that I had not let him deceive me with his false promises and superficial charm during the consultation! If you end up being the unfortunate one that trusts their dental health to this man and end up having a similar experience, contact me. I will stand by you in small claims court, give you witness testimony or if you just need to vent. And if you are a previous patient that has been mistreated by Zachary, contact me and help me, as we can use each other's help in small claims court. I consulted with other orthos although I don't have the means yet to start treatment yet, they did tell me that they can see how he damaged my teeth using putty to create impressions. They told me that the problem with the cheap route that he takes is that it shrinks if you wait even a few extra seconds while the putty dries and it can do irreparable damage to the nerve endings to the patient. They will write down their observations so that I can use those to file a complaint with the Dental Board. In addition, every orthos findings were similar on the plethora of mistakes he made so there is consistency in what they are saying. I am also going to file a complaint with the California Department of Consumer Affairs as well as the American Board of Orthodontics. It sucks that people like him get away with everything and there is no accountability because they sense that we are helpless and especially if he knows we don't have the means to pursue legal action. I saw how he treated his affluent laguna clients versus how he treated me. He preys on those he perceives as helpless...treats affluent clients with care and dismisses the rest of us. He is a true disgrace to his profession, exploiting vulnerable patients without remorse. read more

Long overdue but I love Dr. Zachary and what he did for my smile! I was traumatized by my childhood orthodontist and as a result never got my second set of braces on. I cannot imagine finding a better orthodontist than Chris Zachary. First of all, his entire staff are professional and they always greet you with a smile. His office is immaculate. It is literally a PLEASURE being there. My tech was Barbara and she is my favorite. She is very gentle. Strangely as this sounds, it's a pleasure to visit the office. Covid hit in the middle of my treatment and that doctor's office kicked it into high gear to make sure his staff and patients were safe. The staff was trained as if they were working in an ER room....and did it with such calm and pleasantries. It was like being in a spa. I have an ultra rare inborn metabolic order called hypophosphatasia. If affects tissues, bone and teeth. It's often referred to as "soft bones". The children's version often manifest itself which is an ultra rare condition know as odontohypophosphatasia. Your child's teeth are horrendous and people think you are a backwoods mom who never saw a toothbrush. But that's not the case. I digress. After searching for various orthodontists I was blessed with Dr. Chris Zachary. He took on my case. And contacted the dental expert in Missouri about this condition, to get advice on how to proceed while treating me. (Yes I was that 50 something woman who got braces). Dr. Zachary rushed on retainer order without me having to ask because he knew I was worried about my teeth immediately moving again. HIs staff is the best I've ever seen! Tracey, Gogi, Julie, Carolyn, and Barbara are always so pleasant and happy to see you when you walk in. My tech was Barbara and she was soooo gentle I forgot I someone was digging in my mouth. The dental chairs are faced outdoors with a beautiful landscape to calm your nerves. Everyone greets you and smiles. I was a patient here 20 years ago, I remembered how great the staff all was and how great the outcome was, so now that I am a mother and my son needs braces, I knew there was no better spot to take him. Walking thru the doors was a walk down memory lane. It's a beautiful waiting room where you're instantly greeted by the sweetest receptionists. We only had a short wait and then was taken back while Dr Zachary looked over my son's teeth, the whole process was very quick, Kim was so helpful (as well as the other Kim and as a matter of fact, all the people we met) she quickly went over the cost break down. My son's nerves were shot when he walked in the door but walking out he was excited and looking forward to coming back. A simple "We don't accept your insurance" would have sufficed. They took the appointment and made a full sales pitch to my child and I, made the future seem so beautiful and so bright, and then tried to convince us to spending thousands of dollars on something that can probably be covered elsewhere by insurance. Not once did anyone ever tell me clearly "We don't accept your insurance". Not everyone has time in their lives for a sales pitch. Some people have things to do. It would be well appreciated by us busy folk without stay at home parents if you could help us save time on issues like this.
