Don't miss out on this small Halal take-out joint if you are in the Albany area. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice and modern, and the customer service is 100%. I came here for dessert, ordering the Rasmalai (cheese balls in saffron-flavored condensed milk). The server went in the back and prepared it fresh. The five minute wait was worth it. It was so delicious. I am new to Halal cuisine. Zaffron Kitchen is definitely the place to go if you want to experiment. I highly recommend.

Tried this new Mediterranean/Afghan restaurant for the first time tonight. We ordered takeout. Two got bowls. One the Chicken Kebab Bowl and one the Ground Chicken Bowl. Both came with mixed veggies (corn, onion, cucumber, tomatoes, chickpeas), hummus or baba ghanoush, and a choice of seasoned brown basmati rice or white saffron rice and white sauce. Both of our diners chose the well seasoned hummus. One had the basmati rice and one the white saffron rice. The meats were tender, tasty and decent sized portions. I ordered the Chicken Gyro over rice. It was a large portion that was customizable. I included onions, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, chickpeas, black beans, hummus, zafire sauce and white sauce. The meat tasted and had the texture of dark meat which I enjoy but some might not. The spices were good and I think I tasted some mint. The prices are comparable with similar places in the area. It's good to have another reliable option in the Latham area.

Food was good. Portions size are big, price is just like any other New York restaurant. I liked that they gave me a bunch of humus and chopped salad. Ambience was quiet. It's really new and there were less people around for lunch. I do think they can do bit better with beef chopped, it seems like they used a beef patty and cut it up and put on top of my rice. I wished it was more like shawarma or steak type shredded beef chunks. For $$ yes I would like something next level. That's the only comment I have.

First time here. Food was great and owner/staff is very friendly. Will definitely be back.

    Chicken and Rice NYC Style

Unbelievably good Mediterranean food. I'm in NYC all the time for work and frequently get chicken and rice. Zaffron Kitchen's version of hallal cart food is as good as and better than NYC street carts. My daughter got a chicken wrap and we shared grape leaves.

    Best food in the area!!!!

It was good to know the turkey is roasted "in house." I took half home. In my opinion, the prices are not only fair but on the low side for the quality of food served. My sandwich was only $9.99 with chips and a pickle spear. Side salads are inexpensive and delicious I hear. The two sided laminated menu was easy to navigate. Specials of the day are posted at the entrance. Service was prompt and friendly. The charming cafe is located at the end of a strip of businesses off Rt. 7 near the Galleria 7 Food Court. It was a little bland without sauce but not overly salted like some other places. Ribs were tasty with a dry rub. Menu stated 2 ribs but I was given 3 slightly smaller ribs. The beans with burnt ends were very good. The coleslaw was also well done - not too wet nor too vinegary. If you are a light eater this is easily enough for 2 meals.
