This place had very delicious food and good customer service! We had a great time. The environment was great as well.

Don't miss out on this small Halal take-out joint if you are in the Albany area. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice and modern, and the customer service is 100%. I came here for dessert, ordering the Rasmalai (cheese balls in saffron-flavored condensed milk). The server went in the back and prepared it fresh. The five minute wait was worth it. It was so delicious. I am new to Halal cuisine. Zaffron Kitchen is definitely the place to go if you want to experiment. I highly recommend.

Tried this new Mediterranean/Afghan restaurant for the first time tonight. We ordered takeout. Two got bowls. One the Chicken Kebab Bowl and one the Ground Chicken Bowl. Both came with mixed veggies (corn, onion, cucumber, tomatoes, chickpeas), hummus or baba ghanoush, and a choice of seasoned brown basmati rice or white saffron rice and white sauce. Both of our diners chose the well seasoned hummus. One had the basmati rice and one the white saffron rice. The meats were tender, tasty and decent sized portions. I ordered the Chicken Gyro over rice. It was a large portion that was customizable. I included onions, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, chickpeas, black beans, hummus, zafire sauce and white sauce. The meat tasted and had the texture of dark meat which I enjoy but some might not. The spices were good and I think I tasted some mint. The prices are comparable with similar places in the area. It's good to have another reliable option in the Latham area.

Food was good. Portions size are big, price is just like any other New York restaurant. I liked that they gave me a bunch of humus and chopped salad. Ambience was quiet. It's really new and there were less people around for lunch. I do think they can do bit better with beef chopped, it seems like they used a beef patty and cut it up and put on top of my rice. I wished it was more like shawarma or steak type shredded beef chunks. For $$ yes I would like something next level. That's the only comment I have.

First time here. Food was great and owner/staff is very friendly. Will definitely be back.

    Chicken and Rice NYC Style

Unbelievably good Mediterranean food. I'm in NYC all the time for work and frequently get chicken and rice. Zaffron Kitchen's version of hallal cart food is as good as and better than NYC street carts. My daughter got a chicken wrap and we shared grape leaves.

    Best food in the area!!!!

Why do we keep patronizing them despite the many negative reviews? In my case I was ordering with someone that wanted to give them a try. I should have told them how awful Bellini's is but I didn't want to deter them from getting what they wanted. They are now believers after we got our terrible order. I like really good Italian, and even bad Italian. Bellini's has increasingly gone down hill to now being inedible. Their meatballs used to be just ok. Tonight, the meatballs were far from ok. They seemed to be made strictly of bread and the texture was off putting. The weak vodka sauce and chewy pasta didn't help the meatball situation. One bite of a meatball and the pasta was enough to throw the entire large bowl in the trash. I won't be ever going here again and would suggest you try ANYwhere instead of Bellini's counter in Latham.

It was good to know the turkey is roasted "in house." I took half home. In my opinion, the prices are not only fair but on the low side for the quality of food served. My sandwich was only $9.99 with chips and a pickle spear. Side salads are inexpensive and delicious I hear. The two sided laminated menu was easy to navigate. Specials of the day are posted at the entrance. Service was prompt and friendly. The charming cafe is located at the end of a strip of businesses off Rt. 7 near the Galleria 7 Food Court. I was out running errands around lunchtime and wanted something other than a typical fast food stop like 5 Guys. I had eaten at Saati Deli before and since I was already in the plaza, I decided to go there. There were a few people in line and a few waiting for orders. I grabbed a soda and when it was my turn, an employee was moving around behind the counter but did not acknowledge me. It only took a few minutes for a woman to come over and ask if I had been helped. She took my order, a turkey and Swiss on toasted rye with fries, and I paid. My order took a little longer than expected. When my sandwich was brought out, the fries were missing. The employee realized it and went to get them, but there was a brief mix up before the correct order was brought out. It was not a big deal for me since I was not in a hurry, and I have eaten here before without delays, so this may have just been an off day. I had more errands to run and did not eat right away. By the time I got home, the fries were still warm, which impressed me. The sandwich was tasty as always and the fries were very good. My order was correct and the food quality was exactly why I keep coming back. I have also been at events that Saati has catered, and the food has always been very good there as well. The space inside is a bit small, but I do not mind that. What stands out less positively is the customer service. Several other reviewers have mentioned the staff not being very friendly, and I would agree. The interaction feels less than businesslike, more like they will get you your food but without much engagement. A little more warmth would go a long way. Prices are on the higher side, but that comes with freshly prepared food and I am fine with that, especially when supporting a local business instead of a big chain. I will return because I do enjoy the food and appreciate having a local option like this. With more consistent friendliness, this place could really elevate the overall experience. 4 stars.
