On point late night or anytime food. I am a fan already. $14.95 for chicken over rice plus salad on your rice and soda. Service was great and quicker than Mac Donald's. They know what sells and they have it ready to go. Ambience is great. I went to the Broadway one, but they don't have a page here. Perfect Food. Chicken seemed a little too small cut, I hope it's not bought leftovers from other places but hope they doing their job right. I shall return. Post 3-4 hours update: I had to use the bathroom a bunch of times. My suspicion is correct, they probably do use older leftovers chicken /meat from other restaurants that was not used on time. My go-to halal restaurant was going to take an hour to deliver, so I had to decide: stick with the familiar, or take a risk and try a new spot--Mr. Halal? *stomach growls* - definitely the new halal place. Mr. Halal turned out to be surprisingly pleasant! The food was delicious, and their Mr. Halal sauce was a standout. The rice platters, falafel, and gyros were tasty, though I wish they'd included more meat in the dishes. I also enjoyed their pita with hummus - it was different from what I was used to! For what it is, counter style Halal food, it is fantastic, tasty, plentiful and great value for the price. Clean, too and fresh ingredients. Staff is friendly. I've been 3 times now for take out, as you cannot eat in. 1st visit tried the combo of falafel and Chicken and rice platter. Next 2 visits, went with the chicken and rice, but I would get the combo or falafel again. All 3 were great and I was full, even over full, before being able to finish the portion. At $12 total, it's hard to beat. In the picture, it looks like there is more lettuce and greens because that's how I ordered it. Typically you get 1/2 the salad. I asked specifically for less rice and more salad and they were happy to accommodate. The white sauce tastes great as does the green. The red hot sauce is good and the orange "mild" hot sauce is just okay. I always get an extra side green sauce as it's so fresh, delicious, and a great accompaniment to the other items in the platter. I used to live in that neighborhood in my college years and this wasn't there. If it was, I would've eaten from there at least weekly, maybe more. Great budget eats! Fills me for 2 meals or all day. Came back here after a long hiatus in Texas. Was really missing good Gyro and Halal. I've tried all the places in the Albany area, but this by far is the best. I arrived today around 3pm and the place was non-stop busy, that is how good it is. I always like to go in and place my order in person, since the servers are very nice, and pile on the toppings, unlike the other places that always skimp. I ordered the Lamb over rice. The rice is the best in town. It is not over or under cooked. It is just right and tasty. The lamb is out of this world. You can tell the other places use the prepacked stuff. This tastes way better. I only get the mixed veggies with tahini sauce, but I see others loading everything on it, and the servers don't hold back. He kept asking me if that is all I wanted, as they really want to serve the customer well. My wife ordered the chicken gyro, because she loves how they do the chicken here. It is red like the Tandoori chicken, and with oh so much flavor, and not too spicy. I really missed this place and am glad to see it doing well. The Mr. Hala East Greenbush is outstanding. The food is excellent. The service is great. It just opened on 1 August and I you one thing that's my favorite place right now. The hot sauce is great. I used to really like this place. Ordered chicken and rice with white sauce on the side for me and my husband. They delivered covered in white sauce and ice cold. I called and they said we don't put in the side. I asked them why they would not do what customer requested and he said we will do for you next time We could not eat this it was so bad. Run, don't walk! Mr. Halal is one of the newer halal spots in the city and it's absolutely delicious! The service is fast and it is in college town, but even if there's a line, it moves fast. They stay open late and the staff is super friendly. You can sit there and eat or take out. I always do takeout. The portions are great and it's fresh food that doesn't break the bank. I like that they let you choose your toppings on the rice platters and don't just have lettuce on the side. My go to is the falafel over rice. Beware of the hot sauce if you can't handle heat. It's fresh made and spicy. They have a mild version which is delicious as well. All of the sauces are tasty and the food is super fresh. Definitely check them out! read more

I personally think this is one of the worst Halal places in Albany. I got a Chicken over Rice Platter. Was it inedible? Not whatsoever, but it just doesn't have that taste you are looking for. The rice was super dry, only picking up in huge chunks. The chicken was decent quality but did not at all have the Halal flavor. It kind of tasted over seasoned and gave more of a Tikka Masala flavor. But not in a good way. I will not be returning here just due to the far better choices in the city. I will say that the White Sauce was very good and the Pita I got was perfect. read more
