The first thing they said to me was that I shouldn't be going to the dealership... Now I told you that story so I could tell you this one... I visited Vancott Jewelers for the first time yesterday. Within the first few minutes of speaking with the lady that greeted me. I mentioned that I usually go to Van Horn Jewelers in Owego and her next response was that she had heard that they do very good work over there. She made a couple of other comments that were positive about the competition and then asked what she could help me with. My first thought at this point was that Van Horn Jewelers must be doing a pretty good job if the competition is telling me so and it made me feel good that my previous decisions on my jewelry purchases were pretty good as well If this place is telling me that the other place does good work. So anyway the reason I stopped in was to have a watch repaired. It's not an expensive watch in comparison to others, and in fact it's probably going to cost as much as it retailed for originally to fix it If not a few dollars more. I was already aware of this by doing some research and I am okay with this. I had originally taken it to another place to have it repaired and I was told that it wasn't worth it because it would cost too much which I didn't feel was that other guy's decision to make, so I took my watch and went home. Vancott Jewelers didn't approach it from that angle, but instead understood that I was looking to have this repaired, quoted me an estimate and a price for shipping. The woman I was talking to at this point is named Carol and she was most helpful. She showed me what she thought the problem was, and was very polite and courteous. This all happened yesterday, I haven't received the estimate yet, and obviously haven't had the watch repaired and yet here I am already leaving five stars. The end result of what I decide to do with my watch in my opinion isn't relevant as the service I've received so far was exemplary.

I recently dropped off three of my wife's rings to be cleaned and a set of earrings; one of which was bent out of shape and required repair. All items were ready for pickup within a week. They expertly prioritized the services required based off my timeline to depart town. My wife is extremely pleased with the results and we will continue to only use their shop when we are home for visits.

This took 3 1/5 weeks only to tell me that he doesn't work on these so I had to make sure by calling again to follow up with him to return my watch. No calls apparently it was not important. It seems to me that Frank should have brought this matter up rather than assuming. Customer service is clearly not in Frank's wheelhouse. When I bought the ring from JR Robinson - prongs were smooth. All of the other times, I have had the ring in for service under extended service plan - ring was returned with smooth prongs. Three visits this year - jagged prongs every time. Last visit, I was supposed to receive a call when service was complete. After three weeks, I called. Of course, the ring was there - no explanation or apology that no call was made to pick up ring. And guess what, prongs are still sharp. Staff states sharp prongs are how the ring is supposed to feel. I'm done with this jeweler.
