As I sit on my toilet in the middle of the night with cramps, wafting in the pungent smells degassing from my upset intestinal lower tract with the hints of last nights Shawarma spices, I decided to warn my fellow man of this very same possible fate. Let's start at the very beginning, a very good place to start: the chairs were kindly loitered with prior guests scraps, but interestingly it was nearly dried out pieces of meat and rice making me wonder just how long they had been there. The shop's lonely cook/server greeted us with a stern "..." as he approached our table. Then exclaimed "drink" with a looming look that implied the "?" follows. "Oh, ugh, can I have just tap water?" He declined, no tap/cups. Only bottled waters or bottled drinks. "Ok,..." so we decided we'll share one $5 bottle of off brand water and a coke. Then, we go to order. Unfortunately, some fresh items are out but salad will be included in the platters (but you can't order just a salad, which to my dismay, was half the reason I chose a Mediterranean place after having fried food all day at the parks). So we decided to get shawarma chicken and shawarma beef dishes. What happens next is my reminder to trust my gut instinct next time, for which my gut is now reminding me to do at 5:30AM upon this water throne prison. He disappears to the back to prepare the food, bustling noises erupt as we wait for our drinks. He emerges nearly towards the end of the prep to give our two drinks, then returns shortly after that with our food. The meat is cut into small strips, almost like long grain rice. The salad with a similar fate of the knife is dressed with a simple olive oil and red wine vlnegar with sprinkle of herbs on top (fattoush-ish without any other accoutrements on top that one would expect of a fattoush). I take a bite of this IDDSI mechanically-chopped texture plate of food. The taste is ok, but that dang chicken's texture and dryness level is where I thought "this is either well charred or old/dried up meat or both..." As I reflect in this cramped, hotel water closet - alone and cold, legs going numb from sitting this long - it most definitely was the latter... final remarks for my rating of one star is that it takes a pretty crazy force to make my iron-clad stomach and intestines turn to the mushy runs all night. I surrender, this place took down the beast's unstoppable stomach. And you don't want to know how my compadres faired... TL;DR - food tastes average (which isn't a bad thing if you want simple flavors), but the quality is subpar and left me sick to my intestines on the toilet with the rubs. Service felt cold and strained, no cups/water available thus must be purchased as bottled water or bottled drinks. Felt like I was intruding on this man's privacy... Won't return, sorry. Oh and the price is rather steep, especially for what we got. Upon entering, we were pleasantly surprised by how quickly we were greeted, because of the location we assumed it would be very crowded, and although there were a lot of patrons, it kept the homey vibe described in so many reviews. After ordering, I asked if I could have my coffee first, and they gave it to me immediately. But that dessert! The flavors were unmatched, with every one melting pleasantly into the next, followed up with the turkish coffee, I felt as if I was in a dream. My tastebuds were literally soaring! Then the bill came. $60 I could have eaten the best kabob at Bombay street kitchen with good service and REFILLS ON MY SODA for $45 after tip. We came for a late night snack, and was greeted by a cool guy (it was 4/30/2023 at 12:20 AM) and we were a bit nervous because of some of the reviews. Whoever was talking badly about this place is INSANE. The meal we ordered (shown in the picture I attached) was flavorful, plentiful, and served QUICKLY. Meal for two and it filled us for sure. Maybe if you're starving you might wanna get for 3 but, I think 2 should be fine. We also had some hummus and pita bread, which hit the spot. And the mango juice? It was genuinely perfect. The only downside to this place is the pricing, but honestly with how expensive Mediterranean food is down in Miami (where we're from) and Disney world and Universal is ($6 for a water bottle??) I'm not even remotely surprised. For everything I listed, it totaled to $76 and I had to give the cool guy a tip cause he was attentive and cared about if we liked the meal. The food here is overpriced and not done to the price that they charge. If you're going to upcharge then the food needs to be top notch. This place is a hidden gem! The food was delicious. I usually don't like grape leaves but here I had four! We got the sampler appetizer. There was two types of hummus and they both were good! A brand new little restaurant just outside of Universal Studios and down the road from the Orange County Convention Center, on International Drive (aka I-Drive). The restaurant is hidden from the main road, but well worth the find! The inside is decorated in a calming lavender, great to de-stress from a hectic day at the parks! The owner suggested the shawarma platter. Shawarma meat with rice, a side Mediterranean salad, hummus, and, shrak bread. Delicious and flavorful! I've never had Shawarma before, was well worth the taste! (I can see why it was mentioned in the Avengers movie.) I made my own little combinations of all those items, everything tasted amazing! The Mango drink I had was like drinking a pureed mango - which I found out later, that's exactly what it was! And the Baklava (still my favorite), was to die for - flaky, sweet, and freshly homemade that morning! The owners were super welcoming, nice, and friendly. They stopped at my table a bunch of times to make sure I was loving the food and my stay at their restaurant. I will 100% eat here again! I almost don't want to tell everyone about it, because once the secret of this hidden gem it out, everyone will want to eat here! But at the same time, people need to stop by and get some of this deliciousness! But don't believe a word I say - you have to go to try for yourself! A quick note, at the time of my review, this little restaurant is still on its soft opening - no sign out front.
