Came here to redeem a Groupon offer and had a mixed experience. The food was good but the service was rude. I felt like we were being judged based on the servers responses and behaviors. It was pretty uncomfortable. Also, if you are using a Groupon, there's a sign outside of the restaurant that says to notify them before. Makes me think that they either serve you a different portion and/or give you a different menu. It's been a very long time since I was here and I finally wanted to get around to finishing my review draft. I came here with my ex, his mom and his sister when we were on a trip to Orlando. That experience in itself should say something lol NOT the most pleasant to begin with. I know the service here sure didn't make it any better. My ex's sister I guess isn't a fan ethnic food (go figure bc she's Hispanic...) and she ordered the chicken fingers. When the entree came out, we all almost fell over laughing. Take a look at my photo! It's literally kid's frozen chicken nuggets and a few sad French fries. I honestly couldn't tell you what I ordered bc apparently I didn't take a photo. I'm guessing my ex got the curry chicken bc that's what he always got. The Indian food itself wasn't bad and I think they give you free papadum and chutney to start. My family and I went in here to enjoy Indian cuisine. I've yet to find Indian food within close proximity to us but this place is phenomenon. The service and food are nothing less than quality. Samosas are great and the chicken Dahlie is absolutely wonderful matched with rice and your favorite naan. Salim gave us great service. He was friendly and extremely attentive. The place closes at 2:30pm, when we were there it was close to 2:30pm, but the owner Salin was nice enough to accommodate us for a late meal. Definitely a place we will go back for sure! read more

VEGETARIAN PLEASE READ...I generally don't leave reviews but I cannot hold back on this one. We are a vegetarian family and ordered dinner from this restaurant through door dash. Check out their daal makhni with pieces of meat in it. Vegetarians please stay away from this place, you really don't know what do you get served at this place. Also if you have food allergies, stay away. You never know what you get served at this place. Edited- I received a pm from the manager that it cannot be true. Shame on him. SO DELICIOUS!!! We came here for the lunch special buffet and wasn't disappointed. It's not a huge spread, but everything is super-tasty. The chicken Tikka was clearly broiled with char marks here and there to add flavor. The peas were so robust and was a surprise favorite of mine. The bread was light and airy. This place looks like a relatively new Indian restaurant in Orlando, in the Steak and Shake plaza. The interior is very nice, dimly lit. I saw a lot of families here with their kids eating dinner. My family and I ordered butter chicken, saag paneer, aloo gobi, and garlic/butter naan. I was really looking forward to the butter chicken, but I had so many inedible pieces in the dish. It kind of put a damper on what was otherwise a good, creamy dish. The saag paneer was okay. I personally prefer saag paneer when it's a little creamier and the color is not extremely dark green, for some reason. This restaurant had the saag paneer with a ton of dark green spinach but not that much cream. It was still an OK dish though. Everyone in my family liked the aloo gobi (potatoes with cauliflower), and the naan was deliciously baked. Service was good too. They were very nice. I would come back again but probably skip the butter chicken. read more

Definitely a rip off. If you want good food but aren't terribly hungry then this is the place for you! Came here for dinner while on a family trip in Orlando. We chose this place because the family was craving Indian food and it was only half a mile from our hotel. This restaurant is located next to a Marriott Hotel in a small shopping strip mall, so there is plenty of parking. Ambiance: Fairly laid back, casual restaurant. Definitely great to go to after visiting the parks all day as this is not a dressy place. The restaurant was clean, well air conditioned, and empty as we came around 9:30pm on a weekday night. Service: Very attentive waitstaff. Our drinks were constantly refilled without asking. The waiter was constantly present but not overbearing. Food came out fairly quickly. Staff could be a bit pompous but I'll explain more about that later.. Food: Pretty good food- I ordered the Chicken Kada Masala spicy and it was spicy but not up to par with the spice level I expected- still good nonetheless with PLENTY of gravy. My husband got the Gobi Manchuriam which was really good- I definitely recommend this dish if you like cauliflower. We also shared Palak Paneer with the table which was just meh...no real flavor to this dish. The naan was fresh and hot and perfect for dipping in the endless amount of gravy we had for each dish. Price: Looking at the menu, the prices seemed decent for the area; it's about $16 for an entree. Unfortunately the portions for each dish here included only about 4-5 small pieces of meat or vegetable. Definitely not good for sharing even for a family of two. Someone at our table happened to ask nicely, without any rudeness or sarcasm, why there were very few pieces of paneer (cheese) in one of the vegetarian dishes. One of the staff replied back, "Well that's how WE do things HERE." Wow, talk about snobby- this place is not a fancy 5 star restaurant with a master, award winning chef...no need to be so pretentious Darbar!!! Your defensiveness obviously states that you've heard other customers complain about your small portions before! Went here every Friday for the buffet. Great Naan and the vegetable samosas are awesome! The Chicken Tikka Masala is my favorite.

Everything we had was incredible...the butter chicken, the lamb chops...the garlic naan, everything. We came in late on a Sunday night, and there were NO customers. Our server assured us the food was really good, and that they were packed earlier in the night. With us coming in late, they also never made us feel uncomfortable. Sometimes people get an attitude when you come near closing. The service was top notch. Everyone we encountered was exceptional. Our server had a great grasp of the menu, and his recommendations were helpful. He was also so polite. He came off like a true servant. I can't brag about him enough. I highly recommend this place. I had been hankering for Indian food for over a week; I was tired, running on three hours of sleep and that hankering was now a full-blown "need to have it now" fixation. Luckily for me, Darbar is right next to the Sheraton I stayed at during my Orlando visit. Bare in mind that I've been to about thirty different Indian restaurants (that I can count off the top of my head) throughout my life, so I set the bar high when it comes to Indian cuisine. My take on Darbar: above average. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala (my goto) and it was decent, simmered in a rich, tomatoey sauce and the chicken chunks were tender and juicy. What sets this Tikka Masala as decent oppose to superb is the Masala sauce, which was a little too savory for my taste compared to the mildly sweet Masala sauces I've tried elsewhere. I can't vouch for the rest of the dishes at our table as I didn't try any of them; my friends did rave about the Chicken Biriyani and garlic Naan, though. The owners make good use of the space; spacious, with ample seating, and dim-lit which makes for the perfect setting for date nights. The employees are very friendly and efficient; the prices are reasonable priced compared to Indian restaurants in LA; overall a pleasant experience and a tasty first meal in Orlando. read more

Great service, decent food. I will begin by stating that I am not an expert on Indian Food. My husband and I decided to try this restaurant because I wanted to eat curry and after looking at their menu online we decided "what the heck let's try it". I can honestly say we enjoyed the experience. We were seated immediately upon entering. Within a couple of minutes our server came by and was very helpful in answering our questions. He suggested the Onion Bhajia to start. It was good, but a little on the salty side. As a main course I had the Chicken Shakuti. It was very rich and flavorful. I could taste the coconut bits in it, but it did not make the curry sweet at all. My husband had the Bhuna Lamb and it was great. I must admit I liked his better so we ultimately ended up sharing his and taking the uneaten portion of my Shakuti home. The best hands down was the Kheema Lamb, which is Nan bread stuffed with lamb. It was fluffy, warm, and just plain delicious. The server was so nice, he packed our leftovers and even brought us a scoop of the homemade mango ice cream on the house! Pretty good food overall. Great service and we got our food very quickly. Staff was nice and friendly and went above and beyond to make sure everything was fine. I ordered the mix tandoori platter ($26.95) came with naan, two lamb chops, some marinated chicken and shrimp in a sizzling platter. It was very good but the portion for $27 is not worth it. My friend ordered the eggplant platter which she said was very good. $13.95 it came with white rice. Food portions very small for the price. I would return here but I don't think the prices are justified. read more

Visited here with my wife and om, during our trip to Orlando. We were the first customers to enter the restaurant and it was overall clean. We ordered the chicken kabob, some kinda stuffed panner ( tasted like malai kofta) and garlic naan. The food was good but the portions sizes were too small, especially the paneer dish. My mom felt like she had some good food after a while ( guess she was hungry) and my wife enjoyed it too. They thought the portions were fine (they are poor eaters..lol). When we called Dabar to ask them what happened to the rest of the order, they were rude to my husband and hung up on him three times telling him it was Uber Eats fault and to call them! Great food, good atmosphere. I came with 6 people and my family enjoyed it. It is a-little bit more expensive than other Indian restaurants but it is well worth it since the food is authentic and delicious. Average chicken dish price is 12-15$ but it's plenty of food. The favorite one was butter chicken and chicken vindaloo. The naans are fresh and not summered in butter. This is not real Indian food. Samosas are packaged samosas you can buy at the grocery store that they heated up. The chicken tandoori was less than 6oz of chicken, tons of oil. Not made in a tandoori oven. And definitely over priced. Most places charge the same but they give you a ton of chicken. The biryani, also overpriced, had 2 small and tough pieces of chicken it it. The daal tadka was not made properly. I'm embarrassed they represent their food as Indian. I'm almost 100% positive the food is Hyderabadi it Pakistani and they say it's Indian because they know how bad it is and how low quality and miserly their portions are. My mom and I were fasting and wanted some vegetarian Indian food for lunch. We decided to stop in and give this place a shot. It is located in a strip mall next to a hotel. When we arrived the place was empty and no one was there to greet us at the door. We waited and after not seeing anyone peeked inside to see a gentleman setting up the buffet area. We sat down and waited for him to notice us. When he finally turned around he apologized and seated us at a table. We were lucky enough to have the whole restaurant to ourselves. The waiter handed us menus to look over as he poured us some water. We were happy to see some great vegetarian options. We placed our order and while waiting for it to be prepared and enjoying the indian music playing in the background, we realized that we forgot to order something to take home for dinner. We called our server over and advised him of our take home order as well as some tea and mango lassi to drink. Our server was very accommodating and very polite. He smiled nicely and made us feel very welcomed so we made sure to tip him well! When our food arrived we were pleasantly surprised at the amount of food that was offered for the lunch special which included Palak Paneer, rice, samosa, naan, papad, raita, chutney and mango ice cream! The food was delicious and spiced perfectly mild as i requested. The chai tea was delicious and soothing. The mango lassi was very refreshing. We enjoyed our experience and the only suggestion I would make is to get a bell for the door so that you know when customers come in and maybe add a little more to the decor inside and out to attract customers since the food is definitely well worth the visit! read more

If out-of-town visitors to Orlando were to base our city's dining options based on South Apopka Vineland Road, I wouldn't blame them at all for their criticism of Orlando dining. This area near Downtown Disney is lousy with chains: bad bad chains. But Darbar is a respite from the culinary-deprived desert of Highway 535. It's an Indian restaurant which is owned and operated by honest-to-goodness real folks from India. Darbar offers a fine selection of beef, lamb, chicken, fish and vegetarian specialties. Read the Yelp Darbar reviews from those who have experienced Indian cuisine in London and other places and can speak more eloquently than I on Darbar (meaning a royal court). My entree of choice was Palak Paneer, creamed spinach with cottage cheese, garlic and Indian spices, ordered medium-hot. Palak Paneer offers one of the most unappetizing presentations you could nightmare about; yet it's flavorful and most highly recommended by this writer. I've said it before. South and West Orlando have a wealth of purely-excellent Indian establishments. Darbar is among the best of all. read more

I am of Indian descent; had Indian food all my life. Read the good reviews and wanted to try it out when we were close to Disney's marketplace. We decided to just get a carryout of Chicken Tikka Masala (includes rice) and a Naan, so it would be easy to compare to other Indian restaurants. Order was ready in 10 minutes. First surprise, they included 18% tip on the bill - on a one dish carryout! Menu says for 6 or more people they add 18% tip. I pointed it out to the cashier and he said something like "oh, that was a mistake" and he took it off. I am not sure about the "mistake" part. As for the Chicken dish, it was mediocre at best. Smelled OK. It was some kind of pre-made sauce added to the pre-cooked dry (tough) chicken - NOT Chicken Tikka masala by any means. Rice was OK, and naan would get a 3-star from me. I have tried Chicken Tikka Masala at many restaurants in Orlando and other cities; I would rate it the lowest. I tried this place because of the good reviews on Yelp. I was disappointed. This is in a very touristy area; if you are in the area and want Indian food, I suggest you drive further away (good option - Aashirwad). If you must eat at Darbar keep an eye on the included tip, so you don't end up double-tipping (18% + 15% = 33%)! read more

Food is average. But there is one thing in their services brought the rating to one stars. They way they handle my checks. I had a dinner of two and ordered two takeouts for my friends. I asked for separate checks because I don't think I should pay tips for the takeouts. Guess what, a 20% tips is ALREADY applied to the check! I have never seen one Restaurant apply such high tips for takeouts without asking. After finishing the dinner when I am asking for the check for the dinner, I got the right check without a pre applied tips. It was 36 dollars, but when they got my card and swiped my card, they automatically added a 20% tips and charged an extra 7 dollars and that 7 dollars wasnt even labeled as tips! If I wasn't careful enough I probably would have paid the tips twice. OK I am not saying the services do not deserve 20% tips and I do not really care about the money but the way they handle the checks is extremely rude. How could you charge extra 20 without asking? How could you present me with a 36 dollar check and swipe 43 dollars without asking? It is called gratitude for a reason! You really need to learn to respect people before starting this business. I feel they are good people but they need to learn a lesson. read more
