Coming from north SLO county, we didn't know what to expect, nor did we have the luxury of living nearby and able to just check-in or regularly talk in person. Joan and Juan both made that distance irrelevant. After our initial test drive and inspection, I provided Joan with a list of issues I found, which they began correcting immediately. Then after I made an appointment for an independent pre-purchase inspection (PPI), they delivered the vehicle to and from the servicing shop. The PPI found some issues, large and small, and SB Car Co set to work correcting them all within two days without any increase in our agreed-upon price. For all the stigma that sometimes goes with a used-car lot, SB Car Co never pushed us, treated us unfairly, nor gave us the runaround. No bait-and-switch, no smarmy salesmen, no up-sells. Secondly, all of the cars there are in great condition, much better condition than any of the other lots I visited within that price range. Thirdly, and most importantly, their customer service is TOP NOTCH. I recently purchased a vehicle there - plenty to choose from and no pressure, as so many have pointed out. I found a car I loved and it was in great condition. The price was great - below Carfax and KBB by a good amount. We bought the car and a few days later, I noticed a loss in power for a few seconds. I took it back and they immediately checked it, found a code, and dealt with the issue. About a week later, it happened again. Took it back, addressed the issue again. This went on for a month; I would drive the vehicle daily and it drove like a dream, until it didn't! I went to my regular mechanic; he couldn't duplicate or find the issue. I stopped by the mechanic my work uses; they couldn't locate the problem. So back to Timo's. I was so upset! Knowing the problem only happens every few days means it was going to be hard to prove and harder to diagnose, already dreading going back again.. Yet, Timo's never questioned me, they took the car back and drove it until they were able to see it happen and authorize repairs. Turns out, it needed a new engine. No way they could have known this, the car drove great 99% of the time and this only happened under very specific conditions. They replaced it, even though we were now outside the 30 day/1k mile warranty. They could have hid behind that warranty, they could have pretended they didn't see the issue or solved it (an issue I could not prove existed or even replicate myself), but they didn't! During all of this, they were very kind, always called me back quickly, and never once treated me like a hassle even though I know they were as frustrated by the issue as I was. Javier was very apologetic and always took the time to explain why this was hard to diagnose and the steps they were taking to make it right. They were doing everything they could and didn't give up until the problem was solved. He also offered me other solutions, like canceling the purchase, picking another vehicle, or finding us a similar vehicle. Ultimately, we chose another vehicle. Even though they fixed the issue and the vehicle had a new engine, we just kind of wanted to move on from that one and they were totally understanding about it, even though they had solved the issue, they still wanted to make sure that I was comfortable about it all. Believe it or not, they sold us that vehicle, with fewer miles and more overall upgrades and value, for the same price! That is a full commitment to the customer. I've purchased many used cars and can say, without a doubt, Timo's went above and beyond to make sure I had a good experience. Javier said it repeatedly - he wanted us to have a good experience - and his actions proved so. They will be my number one, go-to, from now on and I will recommend them to everyone I know. In summary, Timo's offers the best cars for the lowest prices, and provides the best customer service. All used cars come with some future repairs or downsides, but Timo's has very quality cars for great prices. They stand by their 30 or so years of small business on the Central Coast. Lots of bandaids that fell off week after week.
