I normally don't leave negative reviews, but after multiple experiences trying to purchase a Tundra…read morefrom Toyota Santa Maria, I feel like other potential buyers should know what my experience was. I was a serious, cash-ready buyer and genuinely wanted to purchase a truck from this dealership. I live about an hour away, so dealing with this dealership meant taking time away from work and making the drive to Santa Maria. My first experience was with a 2007 Tundra. I had an appointment to come see the truck and made plans around going down there, only for the truck to be sold before I got there. I understand vehicles can sell quickly and that an appointment doesn't necessarily mean a vehicle is being held, but it was still frustrating. Despite that, I gave Toyota Santa Maria another opportunity when a 2021 Tundra Limited became available. This is where my experience became especially frustrating. I took HALF A DAY OFF WORK and drove about an hour to Santa Maria specifically to see this truck. When I arrived, the truck wasn't actually ready. It still needed to be diagnosed and go through their inspection/reconditioning process. From there, I kept being told it should be ready "tomorrow." Tomorrow came and it still wasn't ready. Then it became another tomorrow, and so on. I waited SIX DAYS because I was genuinely interested in buying this truck. Six days later, Toyota Santa Maria called me wanting to TALK NUMBERS over the phone on the 2021 Tundra. My response was basically: when is the truck actually going to be ready? At that point, discussing numbers wasn't my main concern. I had already taken time off work and driven an hour to see a truck that wasn't ready, then spent almost a week being told it should be ready soon. Before negotiating anything, I wanted to know when I could actually see and purchase the finished, inspected truck. Then, the VERY NEXT MORNING, I was told the truck was actually not going to be sold at all. Apparently, enough problems had come up during their inspection that they decided to wholesale the truck instead. To be clear, I'm glad they ultimately didn't sell me a truck they didn't feel comfortable retailing. I would much rather find that out beforehand than buy a problem. My issue is how the entire process was handled. I took half a day off work, lost income, drove an hour each way, showed up to a truck that wasn't ready, waited six days while repeatedly being told it should be ready "tomorrow," and then received a phone call asking me to start talking numbers BEFORE they had even determined whether the truck was going to be retail-ready. Then the very next morning, suddenly the truck wasn't for sale at all. After all of that, they offered me a cleaner 2019 Tundra Limited 4x4 with around 69k miles for $45,995. I was STILL willing to give Toyota Santa Maria another opportunity if they could make the numbers make sense considering everything I had already gone through. I made an offer I felt comfortable with. Instead, I was told they were firm because they already had other interest in the truck and ultimately they were only willing to offer $1,000 off. At that point, I was done. And to be clear, this review isn't simply because they wouldn't accept my offer. They have every right to ask whatever they want for their vehicles, just like I have every right to spend my money somewhere else. It's about the overall customer experience. I came to Toyota Santa Maria READY TO BUY. I took time away from my business, lost half a day of work, drove an hour each way, waited nearly a week for a truck while repeatedly being told it would be ready soon, and then was asked to discuss numbers on a vehicle that they apparently hadn't even determined was suitable to sell yet. After giving this dealership multiple opportunities to earn my business, I've decided I'll be taking my money elsewhere. If Toyota Santa Maria genuinely made an effort to make this situation right and offered me the right truck at a price that made sense after everything I've gone through, I'd be willing to reconsider my opinion and update this review accordingly. But based on my experience as it stands today, I personally would not recommend Toyota Santa Maria. If you're considering buying here--especially if you're driving in from out of town--I'd strongly recommend confirming that the vehicle has COMPLETED its inspection and is actually READY FOR SALE before taking time off work or making the drive.

From the start, he was incredibly helpful, honest, and straightforward about everything. No runaround, no fluff- just real, clear communication that made the whole process feel easy and stress-free. What really stood out, though, was how kind and respectful he was throughout. He took the time to answer our questions, kept us updated, and made sure we felt comfortable every step of the way. You can tell he genuinely cares about his customers, which is rare these days. He made what could've been a frustrating situation feel smooth and manageable. Thank you :) Thank you :) Mizael!

I wish so bad I would have left right then. I knew what I was getting before I got there so I wasn't "sold" the car. With the thickness of the dirt I asked him, " is this the blue one?". He said yes, it was the blue one. What he SHOULD have said was " this is the phantom blue". Then I would have known it wasn't just blue because phantom means an illusion. He said if I wanted to test drive it he would have it rinsed off then directed me to the side of the building that was like a giant carport, out of the sun in heavy shade. I test drove it, bought it as planned then he has the car washed and brought it back around to the heavy shade where I put the contents of my old car to the new "blue" one. I drove off and didn't get home to look at it again until late afternoon. I thought it looked kind of weird, the color of it but didn't really see the true color until the next day. If it's in the direct sunlight it's a BLUE/GREEN color with GLITTER in the paint! It's the UGLIEST color I have ever seen and I am STUCK with it!!! I have felt sick to my stomach everyday since. I was robbed of my new car happy experience! But wait, there's more! I waited to get my loan info in the mail as I was told so that I could get autopay set up. 3 days later I started getting a HUGE amount of paper mail with loan offers, like between 3 & 5 EVERYDAY then my phone starts blowing up. Voicemail after voicemail EVERYDAY about loans! Nothing was about the actual loan so 15 days later I call the finance dept. I was told I had forgotten to sign something! I get it emailed to me, sign and return then later on I get an email saying I needed to send them a utility bill with my address WHICH I ALREADY DID the day I bought it!! 3 days later I get the proper loan information. This was now 18 DAYS after I bought my ugly car! I HATE MY CAR! So from the car porters that don't know how to do their jobs to the sales person who doesn't even know his colors to the idiots in finance, which boils down to WHO IS IN CHARGE at Santa Maria Jeep?! The General Manager. Wow you guys! Just wow! Also to add: I didn't even get Jeep floor mats they just put in generic cheap ones that you can buy anywhere for $20!

Stowasser could not do much to diagnose the problem beyond replacing the 12 volt repeatedly. It took GMC corporate handholding them on how to swap a traction battery. They made it abundantly clear they don't want to work on EV's at this MAGA operation. STAY. AWAY. When I got my truck back, not only was the software not updated to the latest release which I was assured would be done by Jose, but they returned my truck in non operation condition as one of the daytime running lights had failed. Truck was returned unwashed without everything put back together. Stowasser failed to provide me any documentation on the repairs conducted. If you break down and are forced to go to this shop, Use GMC's reunite program to have your vehicle towed back to a dealer that actually knows how to fix a GMC product in a timely manner. Bring your EV here if you want to lemon it because it will take them longer than 30 days to figure out what's wrong.

On 3/5/26 I was told that I was approved, I was even told to start making my plans and what time I would be there on Sunday. I made plans around that and was under the impression that the vehicle was essentially reserved for me. Alex was going to call me today 3/6/26 to go over the approval but then proceeds to inform me that the truck has been sold. So now I get to walk away with nothing but an inquiry on not only my credit report but my wife's as well. This felt very unprofessional and like a complete waste of my time. If a customer is approved and told a vehicle will be ready for pickup, the dealership should honor that. I would have appreciated basic courtesy and transparency in being told they would not hold the vehicle whether approved or not. Overall, this experience left a bad impression, and I would be hesitant to trust this dealership again.
