It's been some time since I've had the pleasure of eating here but I had some time today for lunch. It was a beautiful day so I dined al fresco and enjoyed the weather. The restaurant is beautiful and relaxing inside. The staff were amazing and pleasant. I had been thinking about that wonderful spicy bread and had planned on ordering more to take home with me. I ordered the Kafta Kabob and the mint lemonade. The lemonade was so good and refreshing. My meal was good but the bread and rice was different. Instead of that delicious flavor on the inside of the bread it was split open and hard like a cracker. The spice wasn't there and the rice was also not as flavorful. I know some restaurants are having a difficult time keeping staff and maybe the cook is not as experienced, or maybe the head cook was off that day, or maybe they have to cut costs and instead of serving a full piece of bread with that lovely spice inside of it, they now have to split it in order to cut cost. I will show Grace because the rest of the food was good and I would recommend this place. I will return again and Just Maybe they will be serving that Good Bread! Let's Hope So! read more

We were greeted so freshly when we walked in along with the fact that the restaurant was so warm in its interior design. The patio was so beautiful for the weather we were having! We got a hummus appetizer- the hummus was fresh & beautiful in plating however the pita wasn't warm and it was very thin & chewy. Maybe that's cultural? We enjoyed it either way but don't prefer our pita that way. We had a mixed kabob platter & a chicken kabob platter. The rice was so light & fresh! The garlic sauce was SO good. It's my most fav dipping sauce for this cuisine. The meat was very tender and had a great taste. The lamb kabobs were fresh & tender. I don't love lamb but tried it & it was great! We loved the atmosphere & would absolutely come back. We did take some baklava to go & we're very disappointed. See the picture for the size. You get 3 pieces that size for $6. Ate here for the first time last night and loved it. The ambiance and feel is very nice , the service was super friendly and the food was delicious. There was 3 of us and we ordered several appetizers and then also a mixed grill skewers ( 3 skewers , chicken , beef, lamb). Was plenty to eat. We stumbled upon La Roche after church last Sunday. I have such a love for authentic cuisine from different parts of the world and Lebanese was one that I hadn't yet enjoyed. The inside of the restaurant is quaint and beautiful. It was a little cooler than our group preferred, so we opted for the patio. It was overcast, so the temperature was perfect for our meal. The waitstaff was so kind and accommodating. They patiently helped us with the menu and made sure that we were happy with our meals. I ordered the Chicken Sheesh Tauok and hubby had the vegetarian plate. Both were more than ample plates and, while there was enough food for a second serving, it was delectable enough that we didn't need to consider that option! Hands down will return to this establishment to enjoy this beautiful cuisine again and hope to bring more friends to introduce them to it as well. read more

I am devastated that it took us seven months to walk through the doors to La Roche! A friend posts photos a lot and convinced me. My husband is not an easy to please fella, and his eyes all but rolled back in his head at the trio of kebabs. "This may be the best steak I've ever had!" he said. I ordered the lamb on recommendation of our server, and it did not only NOT disappoint, it blew me away. Everything was *pleasant* to eat, smell, see, taste. The hummus was so velvety smooth, it was like a first kiss. I slid down in my chair and succumbed to the obvious expertise and taste of the chef. We will return, soon and often! read more

I have been to La Roche several times -- it has become a favorite of mine. The service is always attentive and pleasant, and the food never misses. I normally come with several friends and we order a variety of their platters--everything is solid from their meats to the vegetarian dishes. The potatoes are fantastic and falafel is on point. Both considering what was in this place beforehand and standalone as a new restaurant, this is one of the easiest 5 stars a Memphian could find to give on Yelp. Everything top to bottom was excellent - the service, the food, the restaurant/space. All of it was top notch and on top of that, there just aren't many options for Lebanese food so this restaurant also fills a void. Our table basically treated this like a try everything experience, and I'm glad we did - I would highly suggest it, given there are so many great things on the menu. For apps, the muhammara was an excellent roasted pepper and chili dip (and that's coming from someone who isn't the biggest fan of hummus style dips); the kibbeh was de-li-cious; and the potato harra are a must (you might think potatoes are basic, but they do them well!). We then split the lamb chops and the mix grill entrees, and all of it was great. I thought the lamb chops were a little bit fatty, though I don't mind that, and one of the beef meats was a little dry; however, that's being nit picky. I was quite impressed by the chicken - really well done and moist. All in all, you can't go wrong here. Put it on the list and make it a date night soon. read more

This restaurant is beautiful and elegant, but even without the aesthetics the food is a perfect 10. The mixed kabob (lamb, beef, and chicken) dinner and potatoes were plenty for 2 people to share. I am so glad this spot opened in Cooper-Young - it's amazing! It's decorated in a clean and beautiful way. All of the food was full of flavor, hot and fresh. Make sure you ask about specials of the day; my husband got the lamb chops platter and the chops were tender, juicy and well-seasoned. I got the falafel platter which was delicious and a great option for vegetarians! You must also order the hot tea (just know that it is caffeinated). Service form one waitress as part of a team, was great ( Grace) and one awful! Mix grill plate very small versus costs. Ordered extra side of rice never came but was charged for it. I was delighted to find this place on Cooper Street during our visit to Memphis. We visited with our kids, and weren't sure what they would like, so we shared several plates at the table, including the vegetarian platter and the kofta kebabs, and extra rice. Our server was happy to accommodate family style. The food was quite good, and the particular standouts were the kofta, baba ghanouj, and hummus. The house made mint lemonade was also wonderful. My only complaint about the food is the pita bread. It was unremarkable, and served cold and wrapped in plastic, which I didn't understand. I would have expected to have hot pita. Also note that they have indoor and outdoor seating. Because of the weather, we dined inside, where they have generic fluorescent ceiling lights, like at a doctor's office, which doesn't add to the ambiance. If I lived in Memphis, I would definitely want to come here on a date night, but if I did, I would sit outside on the patio, for better ambiance. read more

The food was amazing! It was like being in someone's kitchen. I loved the vegetarian platter (which came with a baggie of fresh pita bread) and on the platter itself. It had baba ghanoush hummus two falafel's a fresh salad, grilled eggplant, grilled cauliflower and a pepper relish. Little bit of everything. My only disappointment was I ordered a baklava to take home and when I opened the container, there were three very tiny cellophane wrapped baklava so I was disappointed that it wasn't homemade.
