I left a brand new $50 bill on my passenger seat totally forgot to tell my boyfriend but you know as a human i assumed he saw it and put it away. Well that wasn't the case. When he got home and I did also after laundry I realized they replaced it with a $5 bill thinking I wasn't going to notice. I went back myself. Came to get an oil change, and once they started, technician told me I needed to get my differential oil changed as well, and that it needs to be done annually. This is not true, it's every 30K-60K miles, but nonetheless, I was due for it anyways. He pulled out his phone and calculated the price to be $293, which I agreed too. I go into the shop to pay, the cashier tells the price in a mumbled voice, takes my card, and the bill says $339. I said that it's not what I agreed to pay, and another cashier said I should have corrected her when she told me the price. Fair point, I should have asked her to speak up before charging me. I asked for a refund, and they said they can't do card refunds. I asked for cash back and they said they can't do that either. This cannot possibly be true, as I have worked at jobs that use card readers, and they can do refunds. I got a refund last week at a grocery store when they charged too much on accident. If a grocery store can do it, and auto shop absolutely should be able to as well. They technician gave me his initials and said if I come back he will give me half off on an oil change due to the misunderstanding. I have no reason to believe he's going to remember me and actually honor that, and the cashier will probably just "accidentally" charge me the wrong price and refuse to refund it anyways. BEWARE OF SCAMMING I brought my car in for a simple oil change on a 10 year old hatchback. I also asked to check the battery since it's a few years old. When I came out for them to show me the battery, they talked me into an engine flush. Well, being that it has 60K city miles, thought that seemed reasonable. $100. Then they showed me the battery checker - indicating the battery was BAD. They wanted $200 for a battery. Not happening for this tiny car. I knew they only costs $50 at most, as I've been the sole owner and have bought one from AutoZone with a free install in the past. Pass. Went to AutoZone, and when they checked the battery, it was GOOD..... So this place RIGGED their battery checker. This is so wrong, and I know it because I'm a female and they think I know nothing. I know my car needed the synthetic oil, higher price, a flush (first time) seemed reasonable, but then you LIE about my battery? Shame on this place. Now looking at an engine flush online, seems like people only do it when a car is over 100K. So, looks like I got scammed there too. And no proof they actually did it either. The free car wash was okay at best. They barely wiped down anything on the dash, but the outside wash (the machine wash) was good. Okay for Free but I would never pay for this service. This Zap Lube Car wash on Kennedy Blvd in Union City broke the transmission on my car doing an incorrect oil flush by not leaving any oil in on the bottom of the oil container and stripping the transmission of oil and flushing pieces of the transmission away during the oil flush process. These people are not mechanics and do not know what they are doing. They talked me into doing an oil flush instead of an oil change and now Ii will now have to buy another car as a result of going to this place. read more

If you are looking for a quick easy oil change and you don't mind the price this is your place they even throw in a free car wash because they overcharge you for the oil change but if you're looking for customer service this is not your spot at 6 PM they change their car wash policy and are very unclear because it is not really at 6 o'clock it is really at 5:50 it seems like a little but when you are rushing around to get everything done before a trip it can be frustrating. Zap Lube was the first place I ever brought a car for an oil change, back like 14 years ago. I have been coming here ever since. It's quick, the wait to pull in your car to an available oil change spot is short, if any and overall a clean place. Not a dingy oily garage type place. Yes! They will try to cross sell and advise on a $99 motor flush. Just politely decline. Yes! They will have the guy changing the oil, under the car, show you how dirty your oil is because you haven't done a motor flush. Just politely decline. If you don't want to deal with that just go straight to the inside waiting area after pulling in your car. You will have a full view of your car from the huge glass window looking into the oil change floor. The cashier will advise you when your oil change is done. Do not expect great customer service from the cashier. She will be too busy on her phone or computer. But who cares. I'm there to change my oil not interact with the cashier. What I do expect is a 10 minute oil change while they check and add as needed, my tire pressure, brake fluid and windshield wiper fluid. I get a free car wash after. The place is clean and looks organized but don't let that confused you. Like most places that does car labor work, this place definitely falls in the same categories: shady and overpriced. I rated 2 stars because of the cleanliness and speed of the work. Overall there are more bad than good. The prices on the wall are not what you will pay for. They seemed to never have regular oil, just overpriced synthetic and they try to "scare" you into getting a service your car may not need. I bought in my car for its second ever oil change but the guy said it needs new air filters. I told him no, it only had 3000 miles and the first dealer scheduled maintenance changed the filters. (Or order the filter from Amazon and change it yourself. It's easy) Protips: Go there with one goal and don't let them tell you otherwise. Make sure they put the full 4-5 quarts of oil and take any left over since you paid for it. You get to watch the work. The women in the front are ditzy, review to the inventory after it prints out from the dot-matrix printer from 1980s, pay and go. read more

Subsequently, I was told I had to come back for the refund. Once there I was greeted with rude and aggressive behavior. Totally unprofessional manner. Brought my car here for VIP car wash and inside shampooing/detailing. It took 3 hours, so be prepared to wait, but my car was a hot mess when I dropped it off! Snow had melted in the carpet and created mildew or some other kind of god awful smell. The rest of the carpet was COVERED in dog hair. I was charged about $125.00 and prepared to feel ripped off, but they did such a good job, I am very satisfied with the cost. I will never go anywhere else. read more

These guys are dependable, offer normal market prices and get the job done SO MUCH BETTER AND FASTER than a car dealer (I'm looking at you, Metro Honda). Go to their website, print up a coupon for an oil change or car wash, and just avoid any upgrades. Both the car wash and lube center allow you to inspect their work from the waiting area--that's magic compared to many alternatives. Also, I had them detail clean my old dirty engine. Wow. I have been going to this Zap Lube for ages. I've taken all 3 cars I've owned, but today is the last day I will have ever have taken my car to this wretched car wash. Normally they do an okay job, but today as I was watching my vehicle go through the conveyor I witnessed the vehicle behind my car crash into mine quite violently. This was due to the vehicle behind me being put on the conveyor only about 1-2 feet apart. As my car was finishing up and getting off the conveyor, the vehicle behind it rammed right into it. Now this did significant damage to my bumper. I quickly went outside to check on my car only to see that the grill guard on the other vehicle had not only left deep scratches, but indented my bumper as well. In all fairness, there was minor damage already from someone rear ending my car in the summer, but this further exasperated the damage. I wouldn't have cared (since there was prior damage) had they been upfront and honest about it, or even if they just apologized. The young man that went into my car to drive it down from the conveyor saw it happen and gave me direct eye contact. He then averted his eyes and avoided me until I started to complain. When I asked another attendant about it he didn't speak English and looked at me blankly while I asked for an explanation. The employee that witnessed the incident then approached me and asked what was wrong. I told him about what I saw and told him to tell the other man that puts the vehicles into the car wash to next time leave ample space between cars to avoid future incidents. The young man (that saw what happened) denied anything happening then pretended not to understand me (he clearly spoke English since he asked "what's wrong" when he approached me). I was furious and in order to prevent myself from reacting irrationally, I left. Typing this, I wish I stayed and called the police to file a report because my bumper will now need to be replaced. AVOID THIS CARWASH IF YOU VALUE YOUR PERSONAL PROPERTY. Oh, and they used harsh duct tape to tape down my rear wiper blade which left glue on my glass which is difficult to remove. Went in for a car wash and they lost one of my rear carpets. I realised an hour or so after I left and they told me to come in. I go out of my way to go there and they said that the people who handled my car had already left so they asked me to come back the next day. All this for a carpet they forgot to put back in after a car wash. Needless to say, I went back the next day and my floor mat was nowhere to be found. I went to go get my car washed and for an additional $13.00 they put wax on my car and shine on my wheels. of course i went on a Saturday morning so it was packed and they sort of rushed through the whole thing and were rushing me to move my car out. I actually had to tell one of the guys to come back into my car and clean again because they missed a lot. If I could give this no stars I would. I've never had a good experience at zap lube in any locations in Hudson county. The "mechanics" diagnosis always include pricey services that they insist on doing. After going In for a simple oil change, they pitched that I upgrade to a different service. After I said no to this because I know zap lube loves to scam, they said they started the service already and i have to pay for it anyway ($120 down down the drain to these people). Three days later thick white smoke came out of my exhaust pipe. I went to a local mechanic who explained I must have gotten a faulty poorly done oil change.
