Omar is an honest mechanic with fair prices who stands behind his work. I brought my car in for tires, brakes, and an alignment. He walked me through the different options for parts and was competitive with the online stores. After checking things out, he said that my car didn't need an alignment and didn't charge me for that when he easily could have. I also had a slight issue that I noticed a few days later, and he stood by his work and addressed it quickly and for free. Went here for a leaking tire (after coming here for another leaking tire two years ago) and the service was just as great as the first time. In and out in under 15 minutes (without an appointment) and they only charged $20 to patch the tire. Took my car about three times because it was overheating. They claimed they couldn't find the issue that it was normal to overheat which I don't think it is. I then took it to MEINEKE and they found out that it was the spark plugs that had to be changed, sometimes I don't think Omar's repair shop knows what they're doing or the workers are lazy and don't want to look for the issue read more

I have had four years of excellent experiences having two cars serviced by Omar and his team. They are honest, highly skilled, reliable and reasonably priced. And they go out of their way to help. Last week I suspected two of the tires on my SUV were leaking air. I stopped in to see Omar on my drive home - 30 minutes before closing - and his expert welcomed me and quickly found the cause: a screw in one tire and a nail in the other. Both were fixed/patched rapidly - 20 minutes and a very reasonable $40 later, I was on my way home. Omar has done brake work, replaced wheel hubs, fixed my radiator cooling system and helped with fixing and replacing tires. I live in NYC and will keep returning to Omar for auto service. Purchased 4 tires and got my back brakes done. So far I am satisfied with the tires. My brakes were squeaky but Omar was responsive to my concern and he got it taken care of. Based on that I will return here for future mechanic needs. Also, for me personally...avoid big box companies like Mavis for your tires. You will spend more money and waste hours waiting for your car. Even for something like flats, you spend too much time there. Support local shops like Omar's. Omar's Discount Tire is NOT just a tire shop , they do from the smallest job like replacing wind shield wipers to engine repairs . They do big jobs and small jobs. Their hours are great Monday - Saturday 8am-7pm which makes it so much easier for the working people so they can go after work if necessary. I came here Initially about two months ago looking for new tires and brakes. One of the mechanics took a long look and let me know that I still had a good 4-6 months on them before they should be replaced. Green flag, they aren't money hungry. I recently parked in a garage in Manhattan and after the valet returned my car my brakes were shot and a bunch of dashboard errors appeared (wtf). Upon returning for new brakes I was a quoted a decent price for the work. I had a bunch of other questions that Omar was able to answer. I came back a few hours later and the job was done great! I had a battery replaced here. Everything was well until about 6 months later when my car wouldn't start at times. Brought it back to Omar's shop where they replaced the battery under warranty which was cool but a few weeks later my car wouldn't start again. I suggested it might be due a loose battery connection but Omar brushed it aside as the last possible cause. Over the course of several visits for the same issue he ended up replacing the alternator, starter, and ignition switch which ran me over $1400. After all this work the car still wouldn't start! I finally took it to another shop and told them to check and secure the battery cable which they did for $35 and I haven't had an issue since! Unbelievable! Unfortunately I can't recommend these guys for anything other than routine service. I feel pretty gutted after spending so much money replacing parts that didn't need to be replaced, all because they didn't listen and do a complete job the first time around. read more
