@Zara is a clothing retailer leading an organized theft business! At least in the US...the Bethesda MD store to be exact. They claim their policy prevents you from trying items in store before purchase yet hardly accept return requests. I visited the @zara Bethesda, MD last week; when I asked about fitting rooms and trying on clothes, workers informed me, per policy, they are not allowing clients to try on items but reassured me i could buy items and simply return in the event they don't work out. I proceeded to buy 2 dresses (I was going to an event and couldn't decide what to wear so I bought 2 dresses from Zara and another from Macy's- the Macy's dress worked better on my body so I kept it and decided to return the other two). To my big surprise, when I reached the store and requested a return, they claimed the dress was missing an inside tag... an inside tag??? As far As I'm concerned, all relevant tags were still attached to the dress yet I am being told the inside tag is missing. I questionned them, because as a client, how do I benefit from removing an inside tag but not the other 3 tags that are still attached to the dress? To say I am baffled is an understatement!! I was duped and @zara legitimately STOLE my money. Now I'm forced to keep a dress that simply does not fit me! SHAME ON YOU AND YOUR STORE! read more

Zara= Over charge and does not offer customer loyalty discounts. Customer service in-store and online are crass and unruly. Reminds me of a 3rd world outlet or a Soviet Union speakeasy that doesn't have to excel knowing they'll get paid either way. I like the clothes, and on sale they do seem like a stellar deal. It's sort of J. Crew meets H&M if that makes sense. The clothes are a little cleaner cut and well fitted for the most part, but the sizing doesn't seem to be true even internally. (One dress I clearly needed a medium, another a small almost was a tent on me. I'm a size 4 in pants and dress most places). The store is reasonably organized but not as much so as I could like. I'm not sure what theme they're going for in the store, but if I see something online (like a jacket) and i want to go try it on, I'd love to know where to find it. I looked all over for a jacket that I had seen on their website but it took me forever to find. I had nearly given up. The clerks are SLOOOW here. The line seriously moves at a snail's place. But they are pleasant when you get there. I guess for what it is, it's a perfectly fine shop. read more

As I write this review I have stood in line for exactly 45 minutes. There are 5 associates working and one Manager on Duty. However, only one register has been opened for the last 45 minutes. The MOD tells me that only the assigned Cashier is permitted to ring people up, and even she cannot open a register due to corporate policy. I should note that I was the second individual in line upon my arrival and many customers have entered (and left) the line since. The current line is fifteen people long...and I've now been here for 50 minutes. I've honestly never seen such atrocious service or management in a retail setting. Edit: To be clear, all of the employees were very patient, kind, and apologetic in the situation (including the Manager on Duty). It is the scheduling of the Store Manager in only having one person trained to use a register out of five or six and the policy of the company of which I am being critical (which to me demonstrates a much larger issue than if it were a single employee problem). read more

Great selection in clothes, always new things stock. There is always a long line at the register but weekend after weekend a cashier named Katrina always makes sure the transactions are smooth and accurate. So thankful to be so knowledgeable and professional. Thank you. read more

I purchased a pair of jeans that I loved and didn't realize until later had a hole in the rear area that was hard for me to see. When my friend pointed it out I took them off but had already taken the tags off (this was less than 24 hours after purchasing). I went back the next day and was immediately accused of lying, saying I created the hole and she would not be taken them back. Denise the manager was so rude and walked away as I was trying to talk to her and had a terrible attitude and immediately was hostile to me even though I was not lying. This Zara is a bit basic. And I don't mean that in that generic way that the word has become but because they don't really carry many Zara Women items. They carry Zara Basic & Tralufec [or whoever they spell it]. Despite that I usually choose to ship to this store because there's parking as opposed to Gtown or FStreet. Zara is a bit overpriced for what it is so I typically select one or two items to purchase full price and wait for the rest to go on sale. read more

I have to go to this store every 2 weeks if not every week, love the stuff . I lived in different countries in the past 10 years and the first thing i do is to find Zara in that town or city. The Montgomery mall store is the closest to me and every time i go there the staff is very friendly (they know me already ) since i go there frequently. I had one of the worst experiences at this location. I would never bring my business to Zara. They careless about customer service. I picked up several pieces of clothing and wanted to continue shopping so I asked "Karen" if I can hold the items behind the register and she said yes. After several minutes and more clothes I go to the register and and she was like "oops your clothes were put back. Someone put them back". What? Ok I kept my cool. Then she tells me "go to the fitting room to see if an associate brought them there" so I went and I didn't find them. I go around the store looking for my items again and I find a few. When I get back I tell Karen here are my clothes. At that time, there wasn't any one in line. While I'm putting my clothes together and knowing that I'm ready to check out she takes a customer for a "return". She took forever with this return. The line started to get long while I was waiting on the side thinking what is going on. So guess what, she decides to take the next person and I asked her why she didn't ring me up, she says "you have to make the line now I don't want the customers to get upset". What am I. Am I not a customer. You are going to embarrass me with all these people like I wanted to cut the line? The whole experience was crazy. I'm in the service business and this was the worst. Kids section is clean. They have very nice people. I love it here I go in there frequently to purchase items for my child. Only down fall is it's sometimes hard to find someone to help you look for something specifically. Not sure if they are low on staff but bedsides that I would recommend this place. read more

Great deals. Bad service. Visited on the afternoon of 10/26 The staff needs to be trained in the area of customer service; both the cashiers and some of the people roaming the floors/dressing room are rude as if they were trained to be that way, but at the end of the day people visiting this location more than likely have or will go into other stores in the mall with properly trained staff, which makes the service here stand even more noticeably. To the manager, some basic key phrases that will go a long way in the area of service with your employees: "I/someone will be right with you" when a customer is standing in front of 2 empty registers with employees behind the counter tending to other things. "Hi, how are you?" "Thank you" "Excuse me or pardon me" When employees breeze by to hang up clothing items. Having rude and pretentious acting employees doesn't add to the appeal or exclusivity of the store, nope, doesn't make it seem any more international or trendy. I've noticed that the cashiers always move at a snails pace, and are lackadaisical, sometimes while holding personal conversations. Cashier today was horrible. Another turn off, which once again doesn't add prestige to the establishment if that's what is going on there. read more

Comparable to H&M... except a bit more pricey for some of the men's stuff. The womens selection is definitely larger, and better deals can be found. I didn't buy anything just browsed around. There were a lot of employees walking around, the fitting room line for the womens was long as well. I was carrying a dog in the store and noone seemed to mind so Props for that. The main cashier line was super long too. I guess business is good on the weekends. read more

Went in there the first time around to pick up an online order. The line was at least 15 people long and two sales associates at the register. I Joined the line. About 40-45 mins later, it was my turn to pick up and the sales associate says "oh you dont have to wait in line for pick ups." I kept looking for the sign that says: to pick up, you don't have to wait in line. Anyway, I get my box and walk out only to get home and discover that the security tag was still on it. A week and a half later I head back to the same store and I was the 7th person in line. but only one sales associate at the register. It took another 30-40 mins to get to the front of the line at which point the line was at least 15 people deep. Now, there were other sale associates on the floor busy hanging up clothes. One customer walked up to the register to handle some issue and a sales associate or possibly the manager was paged. she walks over, assists the customer at the point of sale area and goes right back to hanging clothes, walking past the 15 or so people waiting to be checked out. I will never visit this store again. I've worked retail before and it's a golden rule that once there are 5 people in line, you get help and get customers rung up and out of the store. Really bad experience. I went to this Zara last weekend. My finger was cut by their hanger, then I told a girl who working in the fitting area that I need to go out and wash my bleeding finger and I ask her if I could leave the clothes in the fitting room. She glanced at me and took the clothes. After I ran back to Zara fitting room, she said" your clothes are gone cuz you left, I have no responsibility to keep the fitting room for you. She was so rude to me. I will never back to this Zara anymore. read more

quality of clothing is good. management and customer service horrendous. and... is management exempt from wearing professional clothing or uniform? This lady was wearing what looked to me to be pajamas, with a strut signaling she was god's gift to man. To manager on duty: I know you feel on top of the world having made it as manager of a Zara at a mall, but girl, bright blue pajama pants are not professional dress no matter where you work. If you do a better job of syncing the actual prices with what is listed on the tag, the lines will go faster and your staff won't be so irritated when customers point out the discrepancy. Also, if you do a better job of motivating your staff, they won't look like they want to jump off a cliff. read more

Zara: stylish and quality clothes at great prices, but the customer service leaves much to be desired. At the *absolute* best the employees could be described as unenthusiastic. I've never once encountered someone who I would describe as helpful or friendly at a Zara. They make you feel like you're getting in *their* way by shopping there. There's usually a line, and on busy days be prepared to wait 15-30+ minutes to buy clothes (only 2 employees max checking people out, even during sales or the holiday shopping season). And after that excessively long wait, don't expect common courtesy once you get to the register. On a recent visit I didn't get a smile, thank you, or even a hello! By the way, I could say the same thing not only about this location, but about every Zara I've been to - Georgetown, Tyson's, and a couple in Manhattan and one in Philadelphia. Clearly it's a companywide problem... not sure why Zara doesn't care about customer service. Helpful hint - don't go in to the wrong fitting room at this location! They're not marked by gender whatsoever, and the "women's" fitting room is located in the center of the store... I didn't see the men's fitting room hidden in the back, so I went into the women's fitting room thinking it was gender neutral and was rudely berated by an employee. If the clothes weren't so great I would have stopped shopping here a long time ago. I live in Maryland but I usually go to Tyson's, as they have a superior layout and selection for men's clothing. read more

I love the brand Zara but not their employees. Specifically, Zara at Montgomery Mall. The only person that speaks to you is the security guard. You walk in and they all act like they're to busy to say Good Morning or a simple Hi, how are you? The absolute worse customer service ever. I've gone in their to shop on many occasions in the last two months and intentionally spoke to an employee and she acted like I was bothering HER by saying hi. If you ask to speak to a manager about an employee being rude the manager PRETENDS to take them in the back and say something to them but in the mean time they forget that your still standing at the register and can hear them laughing in the back. I went in Zara browsing for my kids when I came across a pair of shoes for my 3 year old daughter. The shoes had no price tag and I asked one of the associates for a price. She told me $30 and placed the shoes back on the table. I kindly picked then back up and went on my merry way still browsing. I picked up a couple of shirts for her and headed for the register. The line was super long and I didn't want to wait so I figured I'd leave my selections in a place where I'd know where to find them and head upstairs to the GAP. Well I did just that and made a detour to the Nordstrom cafe for a slice of cake. After I was done in line there, I turned around to find 2 young idiots walking towards me. I thought maybe I dropped something but it was the Manager and the associate I'd asked in Zara for the price of the shoes. She said you didn't pay for the shoes! I asked are you accusing me of stealing. She responded, my associate witnessed you walking around with the shoes but you didn't pay for them. Then she went on to say that she was calling Security to check my bag. I only had my purse! I told her if Security checks my bag it will be your last day! I was totally offended, embarrassed, and outraged that I had to accompany them back to the store where she again asked if she could check my bag. I told her, You ain't checking shit!!!! My heart was palpitating and I was at a loss for words, although a few choice words were said. Tomorrow morning can't come fast enough to 1. find an attorney, and 2. call corporate for immediate remedies. Needless to say, The associate saw where I'd placed the clothes and the shoes, grabbed them, and didn't even apologize. Hurry up 9am... WIll I ever step foot in Zara again????? HELL NO!! read more

I am a regular shopper of this location and another. I will not be shopping at the Bethesda (Montgomery Mall) location anymore. I had a shirt that was a gift for my father from my mother. My mother asked me to go back and exchange it because it was a size too small. They did not take it back because the tag inside was cut off, even though it still had the other tags. I have returned items with inside tags cut off and stores always take them back due to great guest experience, is this a new policy? I was furious because it was not cheap. read more
