I know people go here for the convenience but this place generally sucks. They never make offers for what they list on signage all over the store that they will buy, even if it's in mint condition. At a certain point, when they offer me $8 for a barely used north face, I'd rather donate it elsewhere like Goodwill so someone can benefit from it at a much lower cost. For a recent drop off, they didn't buy never worn before (NWOT) carhartt pants or lululemon XL sports clothing (they have signage that they are in need of Carhartt, Lululemon and especially xl and xxl clothing. As a shopper, it's crazy to see how expensive things are selling for. They had a very used Boscov's brand slip (sells for $20 new) priced at $16. They sell used Docs for $10-$20 lower than the brand new selling price. Meanwhile, you know that the seller was given maybe 10% of that for the same item. Service wise - they say two hours. I've checked in at the 2.5 hour mark and they've said 45mins-1hr more. At least overestimate the time it will take but don't underestimate because you create frustrated customers who may never return. read more

they just took a wipe and only took some of the "just deodorant" stains as they called them. Their lululemon rack is pretty full, but then you see how they're selling dirty clothes- it's very understandable why. You don't charge 30$ and 40$ an item for something stained. I highly recommend you go to the lululemon "we made too much section" and you can get clean never worn bras for 29$. Same with the tanks. The lululemon like new website would also be better if you're looking for a more eco friendly route. I wanted to support a local business, but no. As consumers, we deserve more than just someone scrubbing their hardest to get a stain out (and not even all of it) instead of discounting it. read more

Great consignment shop! It's very easy to sell your items--they have a tablet where you put in your information and then you drop them off and receive a text when they are done deciding what they would like. As with most consignment stores they are picky but they offer you money immediately either in cash or as 25% more in store credit. You do have to return same day. The store itself is very organized and easy to navigate with a good number of dressing rooms. read more

Congested yet empty? Empty due to the content being an excessive amount of low quality garments from Zara, Forever21, Shein, Temu, Ann Taylor Loft and other fast-fashion no-nos. I love that they are true to their reuse, upcycle, recycle movement, however, how many more washes can these garments handle? This place is so organized! I visited on a weekday so it wasn't busy but I was so impressed with how easy it was to browse through the shop. Everyone is arranged by size and color. The styles skew younger/casual. I saw some North Face, Lululemon, J Crew, etc. I would consider the condition to be good (not like new or excellent). You can definitely tell the clothing is used but everything is clean and decently priced. read more

This store reminds me of another store called Plato's closet. Be aware that this is a consignment store and not a thrift store. This means they purchase clothes from other people. The clothes are not donated and that means the pricing will be higher than a thrift store. It is nicely laid out, well organized, doesn't have that used clothes smell and a nice atmosphere with clean fitting rooms It is mainly going to cater to juniors based on the mid to lower end brands that I found. They had a decent clearance section and a small men's section. I didn't find anything I liked or that would fit me but it's worth a stop especially if you are in your teens or 20s. read more

I find the staff at Uptown friendly, professional and willing to assist. I initially sought out Uptown in August of 2024 after my mother passed. My goal was to donate her cloths. I have come here a number of times to sell. As with any consignment store, don't expect to get paid top dollar. So if you know your clothing is name branded and gently used, you are better off selling it yourself via eBay, Facebook Marketplace, etc. But the reason I keep coming back is because I do have clothes that are not name branded or did not buy them at full retail price so I am a little more lenient on the price. I normally first try to sell them myself and only when I haven't been able to sell them for months do I attempt to sell them here. I do like that they pay you pay front. No waiting around to a check when do finally sell it. You do get the option for cash or a little more as store credit. The consignment process is this: you check in with some of your info (ID # (drivers license, contact info, address) let them know which bag/box is yours and wait for them to call you later with their offer. Normally it only takes 20min to 1 hour. Then you have until when they close that day to pickup your payment and any items they didn't want. They can donate the rest if you choose. I know some reviewers have noted that they may take items and not pay you for them. What I always do is take a picture of what I have for sale and then double check what they want and refused when I come back. Wouldn't hurt to take the picture right in front of them so they don't get tempted. Employees are basically high school students so don't expect high quality customer service. Tips for selling: they tend to accept items in some kind of zippered bag. They do accept items that aren't name brand if the style is in tune with today's fashion. Some examples are leggings or floral dresses. It is located on Rockville Pike and there is generally enough parking in the lot to park right in front of the store. Bottom line (for consignment sellers): only sell items that you bought discounted, or non-name branded items but are in line with today's fashion if you don't want to feel butt-hurt about the offer. Also, protect yourself by taking pictures before and after they look through your stuff. read more

I brought a whole bag of clothes there. I get that they didn't use everything for their store to sell since some things just don't fit in their Repertoire. But they still picked out quiet a few things like a nice shirts, high heels, a vans sweater etc. I got $20 for that, which I think is a little ridiculous when you consider the quality of the product. The sizes are NOT accurate! and don't REMOVE the tags!!!!!!!! they won't give you store credit because of the plastic tag color, even though it said the tags had to be attached. Then I paid $30 for two pieces that was not the size and Had to resell it and got back only $11. NEVER EVER EVER will I shop here again! read more

Not a fan of this place. I drove all the way out to Rockville to try to consign some of my more young adult-leaning items. All clean and in great condition -- with brands like Banana Republic, Nike, Nichole Lynel, etc. They didn't even spend 5 minutes looking through the bags before just summarily texting me that they couldn't take any of them. Meanwhile I saw comparable items in the store that were on par with my items -- or even items that were not as nice as mine. I'm annoyed that I drove all the way out there for no reason, and even more annoyed that all my biographical information (like driver's license info, etc.) is in their system when I definitely won't be returning. read more

Sellers Review. So my experience is from a sellers perspective. Exactly as Stephanie had mentioned. If your a seller do not let the clothes leave your eyesight. Ill explain later on in my review.. At first the system seems organized, young girl explained the proces. Check in, have your ID verified and youll get a ticket. I was told me about an hour wait or more. Cool, cuz I was gonna eat at Iron Age. Fast forward, hour later, girl told me maybe 20 more minutes. Ok, I'll look in the store. As most thrift stores/consignments shops on the Pike, they mark the clothes up big time. Like some worn Vans $18?? Outdated Coach bags going for $75?? The mark up is definitely a deterrence. Shoes are at ridiculously prices. Clothing selection was very plain, not very trendy or any good deals. I understand the store has overhead cost and need to mark up the clothes, but this is insane. They don't even carry hardly any high-end brands for that. I got called by phone, and told me , that they weren't able to take any of my clothes. Ok, so I walk up And the girl was handing me a large shopping bag that wasn't mine. I was like this isn't my bag??!! Thats my bag, me pointing to the TJ Maxxs bag with the pretty logo thats was on the floor?!! Other girl was like well the other customer said it was hers. I was like IDC who said what, yall better replay camera footage and see that I walked in with that bag filled to the top with clothes! "No no we believe you!" Then the girl apologized and stated she mislabeled the bags, and kinda laughed it off. How is this funny?! So then I was tol,, by another clerk they would only take my 2 dresses from Zaras and offered me $9 for both. Very insulting offer, because we all know that they are gonna flip and sell it 2 or 3x as much. Now my clothes were brand new with tags! From Zara, Francesca, Anthropologie and Forever 21. She told me, we are been very picky on what we take in. I was like what would have happened if the other customer came in and took my bag, that they mistakenly labeled? Crickets.... like I said, which your clothes!! I'm stick with selling my stuff online, avoid avoid...selling or shopping here. read more

This place will never be worth your time if you are trying to sell clothes. I brought in two bags of clothes and waited 3.5 hours just for them to want three pieces. They offered me $15 for an urban outfitters dress with the tags on, a gown with the tags on, and a sweater crop top. After waiting that long I expected them to take more from my selection, but if something doesn't work for their assortment I understand but I should have been better compensated. Not that their assortment is anything to be appreciated... I will not be going back. read more

An update: Been going to this store for years, mainly to buy and sell clothes. I usually bring in new and lightly work clothes to sell but this time they did not take any, saying it was out of style. That's understandable. The workers do look like they were in high school and didn't want to be there but some of them were nice, especially the one's that great people at the door. Like many other reviewers, be careful what you sell because they will lowball you and will mark up the price for resale. Every time I would sell I would get an average of 8-20 dollars back from many new and lightly worn items. In terms of cost of clothing items in this store, they are from 15-30 dollars. The good thing is I was able to find an Aritzia Babaton robe retailed for over $200 and was sold in this store for $20. You would think they would resale this for more. I just feel bad for the person who sold this robe who might have been lowballed an offer for such a beautiful piece, only to be resold for 20. Not a lot of modest wear, unfortunately. Mainly styles catered for teens to those in their early 30s. Other notes: Tried to donate my items after selling and they said they were out of trashbags and they can't take your items without also taking your bin/bag for donation. Make sure to bring a trashbag in case. They also do not take outside donations so you need to try selling your items first before donating. What a process! read more
