Food was not good. Lamb was cold and dry. Definately not from the spit. Friend had lentil soup. Looked more like room temperature apple sauce. One spoon full and the rest was left on the table. Tonight I tried Mediterranean food for the first time at Zara's and I was very pleased with the experience! The restaurant decor is absolutely beautiful! I loved all the colorful fabric tiles on the ceiling and the lanterns on the tables. We tried the Traditional Hummus & the Baba Ghanoush for our appetizers with pita bread! The BG while mildly bitter was still very palatable especially with the olive oil and herbs added. I loved the hummus! Moving on to the main course - the salad with cucumbers was great considering I'm not a fan of cucumbers and the rice tasted fantastic! The lamb shish kabobs were good - a couple of the pieces were noticeably smaller so they ended up cooked more and were a little more well done than medium but overall the flavor and texture were delicious especially paired with the Tzatziki sauce. Overall it was a great first Mediterranean food experience & I would definitely return as there were plenty of options on the menu I can't wait to try! read more

Ate here for the first time and loved the food! We had the samosas as an appetizer, and then the mixed grill for two. It was enough food for four people!! Grilled chicken, steak, and lamb, all of it delicious! The basmati rice was also seasoned just right, and the salad was good as well. This is a very tasty spot. I ordered the beef shish kebab with a side of baba ganoush for lunch. Everything tasted great. The basmati rice was beautiful and subtly flavored. The beef was marinated with good flavors. The baba ganoush had a wonderful, full flavor. My only complaint is that the beef was very tough. Oh, and I was very disappointed that the olive on my baba ganoush was a standard canned black olive. I expect a Mediterranean restaurant to have decent olives. I'd come back and try something else if I'm in the area but I wouldn't order the beef again and I wouldn't make a special trip. Update: The restaurant has already been in touch with me to let me know the meat was substandard for their expectations and are addressing the problem! I am not only a major food snob, I'm also a certified personal trainer and nutritional specialist. It's really important to me what I put in my body and  the fact that all the ingredients they serve are fresh and organic is a big deal. Came for a quick lunch on the way back to east Texas. Small and quaint local place in a strip shopping center but the service and hospitality of this family ran restaurant is superb. We ordered pesto hummus which was to DIE for and the hallumi (fried goat cheese) so fabulous! To follow was lamb gyro wrap and the platter. My platter came with babaganoush and delish rice!! So so fresh and flavorful! The owners son was there playing and had a small corner of the restaurant as a toy/ playroom. My boys were in heaven and he was the most polite sweet boy. She was very friendly and helpful making recomomdations as this was my first time at the restaurant. My order came out quick and I was salivating all the way home. The food smelled so good. Best falafel I've had since I ate some in Jordan!! So good! And pairing it with their tangy tzaziki sauce is even better. As a main course, I ordered the chicken kabob plate and it was so tasty and tender, specially dipped in the creamy garlic sauce, and paired with the pita bread. My husband ordered the mixed meat plate and he loved it as well! I had the (non-alcoholic) mojito and my husband had the mango juice, they were both as amazing as we imagined!! We first arrived to find that at least three of the prime seating areas were all dirty, it wasn't very busy so that was confusing. But we were here for the food and the great reviews, so we picked a table and searched for some menus. The restaurant is very small, but they look to be expanding, hopefully with more staff than the only two people there that night. We didn't wait too long and our orders were taken pretty quickly. I very much enjoyed the beef and chicken Shish Kabob combo which comes with basmati rice and greek salad. To my surprise Tzatziki sauce is an extra side that will set you back three extra dollars, it's a favorite of mine so I ordered it. Food came out pretty quick and the presentation was excellent and the side of sauce was substantial. I loved the chicken, but the beef not so much (personal preference on the seasoning, but was cooked well). Everyone at the table was very satisfied with their meals and we are happy to find a place close to home for some variety in food choices. We will be coming back and looking forward to the expansion. read more
