Big Box of Big Birthday Cookies ( Icing is warm )
    Stan F.

There's something beautifully rich and aromatic about the world of Jewish baking. From the sweet and fluffy challah, braided to perfection, to the crispy, deep-fried delicacy of sufganiyot, each recipe tells a story of Jewish tradition, culture, and warmth.

Egg sandwich. Huge piece of egg, and a nice sauce on it too.

A great selection of parve kosher baked goods. That means no butter, and no dairy of any kind. All the classics are here. Beautiful danish, challah, rye bread, Babka, Rugelah, cookies, etc. The current team has really kicked it up a notch, And word is spreading. In fact, I am finding it hard to stay away.

Oh my! The smells That greet you as you walk in the door entice you to want to buy one of everything.... You know how some people undertake to cook every recipe in the cookbook it might be my life goal to try everything at Malek's bakery! Today I settled on the chocolate frosted brownies - with nuts and without... a birthday treat for a colleague! Way better than any birthday cake I could offer! Run-don't walk-to maleks today!

Cow cookies, poppyseed thing, cheese Danish, raspberry thing, and the best cake thing individually wrapped

Totally delicious, everything I tried which was poppyseed thing, raspberry thing, cheese Danish, a fairy/dutchess/magic cake n the checkerboard cake. By far the checkerboard cake was the least awesome....I'm just not excited by cake.

Can't find these traditional favorites in most bakeries.

A must stop whenever I'm in the Twelve Corners Area. And they never disappoint. Very nice selection, old favs and new. Always tasty!

    Yummy!

Malek's was one of those places I always drove by but never visited. One day, I decided to stop in for some goodies for work. And WOW! Sweet treats and sweeter service! This place is a hidden gem. Unassuming from the outside and filled with mouthwatering baked goods inside! Everything looks and tastes incredible. I didn't know what anything was when I first visited, but the staff were extremely patient, helpful, and genuinely kind. I can't wait to go back again and again!

    Inside

Small place, primarily sweets and a selection of full loaves of bread, not many non-sweet small pastry items beyond the butter roll, which was fantastic. Service was very friendly.

I'm not sure what all of these are called, but they were all delicious, particularly the chocolate one.

We arrived within the first couple hours of opening, so there was a large selection of goods to choose from; everything looked so good! ... And if smelled wonderful too! However, I did not like that nothing had prices listed, at least not that my friends or I were able to locate. It also would have been a nice touch if they offered coffee and/or tea to go with their items... but, since they are more of a takeout bakery (only having outdoor seating), it may not make sense for them. I opted for a savory option of a breakfast sandwich made on a jalapeno scone with egg, perfectly crispy bacon and melty cheddar cheese. My friends got a pastry and a muffin. My sandwich was really tasty & fresh; I thought the price was kinda steep, coming in around $15. My one friend enjoyed her pastry. My other friend had a very hard time getting the wrapper to peel off of her muffin, losing pieces of muffin in order to remove all the wrapper. I would consider visiting again, but would really like for them to have pricing listed somewhere.

But it doesn't mean I left empty handed! The display was so beautiful and there were a ton of Asian-inspired flavors, I bought a lot and STILL want to go back to try the other pastries! All the pastries were beautifully made, and not too sweet (the pinnacle of Asian parent compliments when it comes to sweets LOL) Jasmine and pear scone: fruity, a touch of florals at the end, and very moreish. I was supposed save half for another day...let's just say that didn't happen. Lemongrass panna cotta: very light panna cotta with a layer of coconut, ginger, and lime zest encased in lemongrass jelly. The flavors are very earthy and work well together Mango sticky rice pie: I loved the crust on their pies, it's just the right thickness and the crimping is super satisfying to look at. Again, not too sweet, with a rice-based whipped topping . I kind of wish the mango flavor was a little stronger, but it feels like the flavors are naturally achieved rather than with artificial flavoring so I can't complain. Love love love, can't wait to come back and see what else they have in store!

I ordered the PB Crunch, which is sweet cream ice cream loaded with Oreos, hot fudge, and peanut butter crunch. It was rich, creamy, and the perfect combination of chocolate and peanut butter. Every bite was delicious! One thing to know before you go is that this place is popular, so the line can get pretty long. Other than sweet treats, they also have coffees and teas on their menu, and a bunch of different dairy products. It feels cozy, local, and authentic - like everything is fresh or straight from the farm. It's actually part of a long-standing local farm operation, which makes the experience feel even more genuine. I also loved that they support other local businesses and sell products from them, it adds to that community feel. Overall, this place is more than just an ice cream stop, it's a whole experience.
