Our lunch here was really good. Wish their entrees were a bit cheaper or offered some smaller versions of entrees as appetizers. If you want to keep the cost down at lunch, you are stuck with sandwiches. An entree is $27. My daughter and I each had the chicken shawarma sandwich. They are pretty big and very tasty. The chicken is nice and moist. This was also for a big lunch group which we received very good and fast service. She was very attentive to our large lunch group. The combo meals comes with soup and bread also provided for the table - and we also got the small appetizer sampler and chose fattoush salad, hummus and tabbouleh. We had the best experience at Zarzoor. The foods was wonderful and so flavorful. Service was really good considering how busy they were. Ambiance is a bit loud but it's a family style dining. The food was delicious and the staff were fantastic! I really loved how fluffy and light their pita bread was. We got the family platter and it was plenty of food for 8 of us. Our dinner at Zarzoor was the best experience we had in our 4 days "Iraqi Food Tour" . Let's start with the welcoming and friendly atmosphere and hospitality. We were greeted by a very nice young lady who was able to set up a table for our 21 person group. Then comes the service. Our host was HAITHAM (هيثم الرائع) and I had to capitalize his name because he truly was amazing and kind. He went above and beyond to accommodate our group which had 11 kids. Finally, the food was second to none. We tried the iconic "Tashreeb Shawarma" and it was super delicious. We also tried several other dishes and everything was fantastic. As you can see by the photos, we got garlic and hummus for an appetizer and both were fantastic. The hummus was smooth and creamy while the garlic packed a fantastic flavor that would scare away any vampires! Chicken shawarma was preferred over the beef shawarma which we found to sort of taste like hamburger. We got the tabouli, hummus and baba ghanouj. Ordered an extra lentil soup, a chicken shawarma plate, large fattoush, no pita with a side of chicken kafta (half order of kafta). $67.80. The hummus and baba ghanouj are both delicious. The baba is nice and smokey. The tabouli was okay. The big chewy bread is quite good. The chicken shawarma meat is tender and moist. The chicken kabob (kafta) meat is dry, as expected. Bummer. The fattoush salad is good at least. The tea was good, lightly flavored. It's more about the behind the back pour and show, right? The hummus, baba ghanouj and chicken shawarma are good good here. The turshi we got after our meal, wanted to try it out here. Most tables got it as a starter. We weren't asked. The pickle juice here is quite potent and none of the veggies did it for me. Bussing off the dirty dishes seems to happen after you leave or pay the bill. As for the food, well, it's quality at its finest! What makes it even better is the little things. The complimentary turshi (pickled veggies) AND grilled olives... first time I've ever had a grilled olive and it was addicting! When ordering the rice you get: bamya (okra stew), curry (potato), AND fassolia (white beans in sauce). ALL of this is part of the order! The freshmade bread was SOOOOOOO heavenly! I couldn't get enough of it. It's not thick, not slender AND a crispy undercarriage... made just right! To the good stuff... decided to go ALL beef! Shawarma, tikka and kabobs. These brought tears to my eyes how good they were. The tikka was my favorite and the Iraqi kabobs are hands down melt in your mouth and will make your heart melt at the same time! The lamb chops were on a league of their own. Coming from the east coast we get skimpy chops, but not these bad boys... meaty and juicy! COME RIGHT and keep them skimpy chops for the birds! So many more details to tell, but I think you need to check it out for yourself... just make sure to bring your appetite, and don't be afraid to box some up for later. We visited on 8/30/2025 and ordered a Mixed Grill Plate for two ($49) and an Appetizer Plate ($20). The soup was served cold. When I asked for a fresh one, the waitress simply reheated the same soup and poured it into different bowls--it still came back only lukewarm. The main dish was very disappointing. The rice was cold, and the grilled meats/kebabs were extremely dry, as if they had been pre-cooked and reheated. They looked and tasted like leftovers, not freshly prepared.When I mentioned this to the waitress, she just stared at me and replied, "Oh." No apology, no effort to make it right, and no manager came by to check on us. We spent $75 and left feeling extremely dissatisfied. This used to be one of our favorite restaurants whenever we visited Michigan, but after this experience, we will not be coming back or recommending it to others. read more
