Shawarma lunch plate, substituted extra salad for rice.
    Doug R.

The lunch specials are a very good value. Noisy. I was pleased that they were willing to substitute more salad for the rice that typically comes with my entree. Noisy. Please consider ordering tea ... prepping and pouring the tea is a show. And the tea is good too! Noisy. The chicken and beef were served very hot, the portions were large and arrived swiftly. Did I mention that it is noisy? How noisy is it? It was extremely difficult for three of us to have a business conversation. Too many hard surfaces and zero attempt at acoustic dampening ... minus one star. Will I return? Perhaps. Not convenient to me. Not a fan of noisy venues.

My co-worker is obsessed with this restaurant and we quite frequently order it through DoorDash. It's always SO good. The soup and shawarmas are amazing. I got the lamb shawarma and that's always perfect paired with the soup. My one complaint is it's not healthy to serve such hot food in styrofoam containers because when the container melts, the styrofoam ends up being ingested. I know a lot of restaurants use styrofoam but there has to be a better option. Especially because my soup cup was totally deformed after I got done eating.

We had Friday night date night here last week, it had been years since we last went. The restaurant was very clean and our server was prompt and polite. Drinks were a little odd, a kirklands bottle of water and a $3 can of Coca-Cola, it was fine but just strange. We went for the dinner for 2 combo with lemon chicken soup. I'm obsessed with their soup and would highly recommend it. The meat was good, the brown rice flavors were a bit strong for our liking so we went for the white rice, but both rices were cooked perfectly. The beans on the rice were delicious! Overall the meal was good, I will certainly return for the soup, but would more than likely try a different meal.

Came with some coworkers a few weeks ago. Lentil soup was very tasty! I got the lamb. It was flavored wonderfully and cooked to medium as ordered but very chewy and with not much in terms of sides a bit expensive. The only have bottled and canned drinks. My coworker got the grilled fish and I definitely did not look or taste grilled. I think there's better restaurants in the area

We drove from Chicago to Michigan this morning and came here super hungry for dinner! Pros: - definitely order the Iraqi mixed grill - best dish and very reasonably priced at $24 - get a large rice plate - we also got a chicken sandwich - sides included were soup or salad - you should go for the soup. Comes with naan and it's so yummy - came with veggie stew- we picked potato and it was great! - complimentary tea. It's so so good! Cons: - very loud music. We asked to be seated very far from the music. I will definitely come back here! For 3 items it was $43, very reasonable!

Absolutely loved the whole vibe of this place. Live music, great service (and a show if you get tea!), and fantastic food! They really load you up with all kinds of delicious plates to try and everything tasted fresh and cooked to perfection!

Wow. This place definitely lived up to the hype. Amazing Iraqi food that is a step above many of the other Middle Eastern restaurants in the area which shows by how busy it was on a Thursday evening. My roommate and I split a full size of the Iraqi salad which was delicious. It has the same tangy dressing as tabouleh but instead has cucumbers, chick peas, tomatoes, and beets. I also ordered the okra stew which was the perfect complement to the fresh bread. I just wish I had gotten a few more okra in my order. The falafel wrap was another winner with well seasoned falafel that wasn't too dry and perfectly crispy. My roommate got the lentil soup which I tried and was impressed by. It had a good balance of different textures (no one likes mushy lentils) and just the right amount of brightness from some lemon. We also each got a pomegranate juice which was very refreshing, just a bit pricier than we expected ($7.50 each)! Another bonus is that it's right next to Palm Sweets bakery which we gladly perused while we waited for our take out. So many baklava options!

I had been meaning to try Ishtar for forever now. I live close enough where I could literally walk to them and often will smell grilling meat when I'm walking my dog nearby. The waitress was super friendly and didn't rush us at all. I was catching up with a friend I hadn't seen in over four years and had much to chat about including the food. We ordered the combo for two people and had enough for more like three possibly four if they had a small appetite. But the meats were very flavorful, tender and just the right amount of char. No wonder the aromas were always so intoxicating! The combo also came with soup or salad, some sides (choice is stewed okra or potato or beans) bread and choice of rice. We weren't as familiar with these sides and the differences between the two choices of rice so the waitress brought us a mix of half and half for the rice and recommended the potato and okra. All were very tasty. I really don't want to speak out of school but I believe this is more Iraqi style middle eastern food? A bit different from the typical style I find in dearborn which I believe is more Lebanese style? Four stars only based on my preference for the Lebanese style. Either way it was tasty and worth a visit! I'd go back.

Nice spot to visit during the pandemic. The setup in here is spread out and has high booths which does help to separate guests from each other. I tried the kabob platter and hummus. I was delighted that they brought out a huge piece of bread along with the hummus! They also provided a lemony chicken soup which was the star of the meal! I enjoyed it more than the actual entree! The kabobs themselves were decent and served with veggies. Wish they had been on a bed of rice but they were not. The kabobs were not too moist as I typically like my meat but a bit on the drier side. Still decent but not the best I've had. They also had a server coming by to check in on each table frequently enough which was nice and they offered Arabic tea which was delicious / i would definitely recommend it. Edit: in case you're still hungry there is a bakery / dessert place right next door, which is ideal!

I dined in yesterday (probably one of their busiest days of the year "Eid Al Adha").. my review is based on my experience for yesterday. I heard a lot about this restaurant and in fact many people recommended it so I decided to take the gang and give it a try. Place is huge and luckily we were seated immediately. Restaurant was a bit noisy but acceptable considering the huge number of people dining in... Dining area was clean and so were the tables. But the toilets were terrible 1st time I used toilets but later they were a bit cleaner. Service was OK and a bit acceptable but I didn't like the fact that my bill was handed to me before finishing up my food and while I was eating!! The food, that is the best part... food didn't live up to my expectations... we ordered many dishes, majority of portions were huge but food lacked flavours although meats were cooked good but lacked the flavour, one of the rice dishes was overcooked and actually rice was burnt and served ... I can't complain about the salad, tan our bread and lentils soup which were the best.. Place is a bit pricy in regards to quality of food served yet reasonable compared to portions served.

At work, we had delivered coupons and decided I'd give them a try. I did not regret my decision to come here for lunch. They had low house and dance music playing, but not loud club levels. The lighting was nice and modest, not blinding and bright like some places are. I would say this is a very trendy, upscale quick-service restaurant. The vibe and feel of the restaurant was very fresh and clean. The leather chairs were very comfortable. There are some good options for your entrees, but I got a three-piece tender meal and a drink. You can get drinks from the fountain or lemonades (normal or frozen). I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants fresh tenders that are fresh. In the photo I got the no spice, honey butter, and buffalo. I like that you can select the flavor for each tender, that's very unique to other experiences where they're all the same or can only get a couple flavors when placing a larger order. Kahmiah came around midway through my dining to see how my food was. Even though I asked to dine in, she asked if I needed a to-go container. The food was so delicious, I had nothing leftover. 10/10 would recommend and continue to come back.

Personally I am probably not coming back, but that does not mean you should not try it. We heard…read morethat a TX Chicken place was coming to Novi, so we decided to try an already established location. The parking lot was packed, but not for this place. For most of the time, it was empty and we were the only customers. A couple other parties did come in, but it was not as crowded as other big name chicken places. The décor was cute, but my husband was confused by what the actually theming was. Was it Houston? No clear direction. But it was eye catching. The people who worked here were mostly friendlyish, but the main person was super dry and not at all personable. It seemed like we were bothering this person even though she was fair and efficient. Just not friendly at all. The food was super expensive, especially for the portion size. The meal cost more than a typical sit down restaurant, especially for the experience, portion size, and the quality, and that's not okay. I guess I would rather have a sit down experience compared to this. I can go to our favorite Mexican restaurant for cheaper chicken and fries plus chips and salsa for less money. The fries were really good, well seasoned, crispy and thick. The cheese dipping sauce was really good, but pricy for the amount given. The house sauce was not bad, but the BBQ was just a brand name pre-made cut, and not a house sauce, surprising for a chicken place. And the syrup was also a pre-made cup, not a house made syrup for a place that wants to do waffles. The waffles were good, very sweet, seemed like a Belgian liege style, I would recommend it and they do offer a la carte waffles. The chicken sandwich was probably the best of the chicken. Both kids got the honey butter sauce. They were tasty, but so small for a $12 price a la carte, and even more with fries. The strips were disappointing. The chicken was not juicy enough and the actual chicken had very little flavor. We got plain, honey butter, mild and medium. The plain one did not have much flavor, even good seasoning to it. The mild and medium were red in color but lacked flavor. The lemonades were very good, but super expensive. Honestly, go to Shake Shack down the street, their lemonades are great and refillable, also larger and less expensive. Personally, Dave's Hot Chicken would be my go-to in the hot chicken category of fast food. And Shaquille O'Neil's chicken place is the place I would return to for a variety of options plus milk shakes. The shakes here were honestly too expensive to try even though they looked good. Since parking was limited, I imagine most people were at Panda next door, where the prices are better and the portions are bigger. Plus there are so many wing a strip places around us, I would need an amazing experience to come back soon and this was unfortunately not it. But, if you are a hot chicken fan, give this place a try and see for yourself.

The second time they quoted me 20 minutes on the phone and after we got to the restaurant and waited 35 minutes, she told me whoops, we lost your ticket. We wait 15 more minutes and even though I ordered kebab skewers, I was given weird thin grilled chicken breast with no vegetables. The other entrée was ice cold. We placed another order today, I even asked her to make sure it was correct because we've had two bad experiences back to back. Quoted 20 minutes, we get the food after 30 minutes and the entire sandwiches is wrong. So they remake the sandwich and give us french fries that are ice cold with the new sandwich. The lack of attention to detail for the cost of the items is just not worth it. Just disappointed overall... not sure what's happened there recently.

We have been here two times now- both times celebrating our anniversary. We live in Monroe, so…read morecoming all the way here is definitely a journey, but worth it in our opinion! I'd like to take a minute and reflect on both times- the good and the not-so-good. First visit: Aug of 2025. The good: We felt very pleased with the service, we felt like our waiter and the meat guys (lol do they have a special name?) were very friendly and knowledgeable. The market was DELICIOUS. We both loved the salads, and most of the other items. I loved the little cheese breads they gave you at the start of the experience. The drinks were absolutely delicious- my husband got the bourbon drink and I got the Yellowbird. Our waiter asked us if we were celebrating anything right away, so we felt like they understood the importance of us having an enjoyable and pleasurable experience. They gave us a complimentary cheesecake for dessert with a gorgeous and thoughtful plate that said "Happt Anniversary." They truly helped us feel special and celebrated on our first wedding anniversary. The not-so-great: When we first had arrived, we did let the host know we had a reservation. We ended up having to wait a little bit until we were finally sat. Also, my husband felt like he was getting more over-done meat rather than medium rare. But, overall, we really enjoyed our dinner and clearly, since we decided to come back again for our 2nd wedding anniversary! Aug 2026: The good: The drinks were great again, the market was delicious again. The meat bringers (lol) were bringing around different items this time besides meat and OMG! The grilled pineapple was AMAZING!! And the cheese and honey was TO DIE FOR! Seriously the best parts of the meal was the market, the pineapple, the filet mignon, and the cheese and honey. The not-so-good: We arrived on time for our reservation, maybe 5 minutes early, and we had to stand around and wait in the crowded lobby for about 15 minutes. It was kind of a long time to wait around when you had a reservation, but not a huge deal. The filet mignon came around only twice, and the second time we had to try to ask someone if we could have more of it. That and the picanha are really the only good meats... Its just frustrating that the sausage, top sirloin, and chicken wings were coming around 10 times but the filet mignon rarely ever came around. The picanha probably came around only two times too. I definitely would not spend more money to get the most expensive all you can eat experience- considering you rarely get your preferred choice of meat. Also, the manager I believe came around and asked how everything was, and we told her it was great which it was, she then asked us if we wanted to see a certain meat. I told her actually yes- we want filet mignon we only got offered it once. She asked what temperature we wanted it and we told her medium rare please. And then she went over to the next table near us and just stood there chatting with them for literally like 30 minutes (they spoke the same language so they clearly either knew each other, or had some connections which is FINE, but then why ask us what we wanted...) I also want to speak on our server. He was young, I think his name was Tristan. He was nice, but not very friendly or welcoming and I had my water go unfilled for quite some time. I also asked him if he could grab that honey and cheese guy again (which I'm sure that's an annoying request) but he was just like "oh he'll be coming back around again." Like lol ok... He didn't ask us if we were celebrating anything (we were) until the very end of the meal after he asked us if we wanted the dessert menu. He said this "Would you like the dessert menu?" I hesitated because I did want the cheesecake but was super full, and that's when he said are you celebrating anything and I said yes it is our anniversary, and he said we get a free dessert. He came back with the dessert menu and I saw the cheesecake brûlée but I just wanted a plain cheesecake like I had the year prior. He told me they have one (I didn't see it on the menu- red flag) but I ordered one to go. Obviously when you dont get a dessert for there, you don't get the pretty happy anniversary plate, but I wasn't expecting to get slopped down a plastic bag with a tiny sliver of... you guessed it... brûlée cheesecake. I was disappointed but didn't say anything since it was free. Overall, I would recommend coming here, despite some minor challenges. However, it is not cheap, so I think when something is very costly, and people aren't 100% satisfied with either the quality/quantity/frequency of offerings, then it gets disappointing. Also- I wanted to mention weirdly my Yellowbird last year came with a gorgeous Aloe leaf as a garnish and this year my garnish was a curled lime skin and two black straws... lol so Idk what happened there. Maybe I didn't get the same drink! Who knows. We do plan on coming back for the next anniversary next August.
