BEWARE!! CAUTION!! TRUE SCAMMERS!! I'd like to preface by saying before you even think about patronizing this business and spending your money listen to what happened to me and let that be your lesson. My named is Rochelle. I was a victim of theft & fraud at Zavius Jewelers. The scary truth about this business is how they run it. I was refereed to this business from a "friend," Michayla. Thinking I was safe from being violated. I finally picked up my Cartier diamond love bracelet after 3 months even though they told me it would only take a couple weeks. As time kept progressing, I started getting worried... All this time for a clasp? I of course took it straight to where I got the diamonds upgraded and customized for myself as they would tell the difference. They confirmed the bracelet wasn't the same. It wasn't even the same size! Not to mention, we had the diamonds upgraded to VS. It was confirmed the bracelet was not the mine! The diamonds we dull and missing and defiantly NOT VS. I sent Melissa (owners wife) a text & pictures showing her one of the DIAMONDS were SCRATCHED and missing. She asked me to wash it and claimed there was something on top of it, that I just needed to clean it. After I followed her request, I then responded that didn't work. She told me not to worry, she had PLENTY MORE diamonds at the store and if she came into town, to Chicago she would pick it up and switch it out for me. I proceeded to tell her how the unique markings on the bracelet that were once there before, such as certain indentions and signature touches were now missing. Her response, "he cleaned it." She took me for a fool, I then called my jeweler and asked if I can come see him. To say the least, once the cartier bracelet was retuned I knew I had a bad feeling. It didn't look the same the diamonds didn't have that rainbow color, it usually had. It was dull and fell fast past my wrist bone when put on. Different from before, which I had to pull past the wrist bone with my other hand! I can't tell you how stressful that was, standing there not listening to my gut and believing the words coming out of Luis's (owner) mouth as she stood there waiting, hanging off my next response. His first words to me were "See just as new! Check the serial number." Boy did my stomach drop. I didn't want to accuse him without proof and risk the chance of shooting myself in the foot but at that point I kept note. He continued by telling me the bracelet is factory made. With a machine, and "it's so easy to make." So I asked him, "do you have the machine to do it with? He replied "Yes." I then told them I was going to Cartier to show them the scratches and ask them what was going on because of course they would know. The response was not to go there and to just go to a local shop. Check the pictures. So before you think about spending your hard money with this business. Think twice, they're deceitful, frivolous, ill minored, and will rob you blind. No one deserves to have to go through this. This one is running loose and wild, stopping at nothing. Greedy, prideful. But the truth always prevails. read more

In fact he goes out of his way to make sure all of our needs are met in a timely manner. i don't trust the other reviews and the one about this place supposedly being a scam is ridiculous. i can't imagine putting down a small business someone has put a lot of time and work into. Zavius Jewelers made my day! I got engaged on Friday night, and the ring was too small. We took it in Saturday afternoon around 2 pm hoping that it could be resized that day, but keeping in mind that it most likely would not happen. Well, we walked in and Liz was so helpful right from the beginning. She said she would talk to Luis and see what he said. Luis came over and she told him our situation. He looked at it and said that he could fix it by the time the store closed! He had it to us by 4:15. It fit perfectly! It's so beautiful! 100% recommend this place! I don't get a good vibe at all at this place. I have gone there 3 times and always felt the same way and have never given them any business. They contradict other jewelers on prices and issues, and they are quite overpriced. Luis seems condescending and their advertised services don't materialize. Seem untrustworthy, even if some people like his designs. He personally quoted me $10,000 more than another jeweler on the same design. read more

So I went in to Zavius Jewelers to see about getting a watch engraved for my fathers birthday gift. I bought the watch at a different jewelry store and I could tell immediately as I walked in the door with the watch in my hand that this didn't sit well with the man behind the counter. He all but laughed and before I could even get the watch out of the box he was reaching for it. With Covid and all I found this to be unsettling. He also took his little magnifier or light thing which I always thought was to look at diamonds(no diamonds in the watch I had) and examined it like he was going to tell me it was a fake or something. He was smirking and had a demeaning tone in his voice the whole time. As if to say how dare you not buy this from us and even went as far to tell me that he "used" to sell that watch . The watch I bought was a 200 dollar citizen so not like it was from The dollar tree. Also as we both looked closer at the watch it turns out that what I thought was just a sticker on the back was actually already an engraving..... so getting it engraved with what I wanted was out of the question. This would've been all fine if he had just explained that to me, but the lack of professionalism and the snooty attitude I got from the man and then from some woman who walked up extremely close to him as if she was back up lol all of this was enough to make me laugh at both of them as I left making sure that I never shop there again . I'd like to remind the team at Zavius that there are lots of other jewelers in Rockford and perhaps their poor attitude and customer service is why their store is so empty ! I purchased my wife's engangement ring and wedding band here and it was such a pleasant experience. The show room is large and very spacious.l with plenty of selection. The ring I got was a custom design piece and one of a kind. My wife ALWAYS gets complimented on it to point where she only wore it on special occasions because she didn't like all the attention. As my friends know I have been searching for my special ring for my girlfriend now for over a month. I went into Zavius yesterday to see their selection. Store was really big and nice but kind of dark inside. They definitely had adequate parking and the store was very clean. My only issue is that when I asked to see some loose diamonds the owner Lewis came out and disrupted my conversation with the sales associate that I was talking to. I felt it was very rude almost like he was putting down the sales associates knowledge. They did have some very nice product but in this instance I think that it's the service that kept me from shopping any further. I won't be back. read more

My boyfriend became my FIANCE a couple weeks ago when he proposed to me with a ring he bought at Zavius. I did not go with him to pick out the ring, nor did I ever tell him what kind of ring I would want. I've always maintained that any man who wants to marry me should be able to independently pick out a ring I'd like. And I'm so glad I went by this rule because Nick, with the help of Luis at Zavius, gave me a ring I absolutely love (in fact it has been distracting me at work...I just like to stare at it). That being said, some of this review is me relaying Nick's experience. Nick had apparently been google imaging up a storm and came up with an idea he liked merging aspects of several different ring styles. Unfortunately for him, this said ring did not necessarily yet exist and, after trying a different jewelry store, he was starting to lose hope in ever finding his (my) dream ring. FORTUNATELY for him (and me!), he walked into Zavius and Luis was there to hear his idea. Rather than directing Nick to rings already on display, Luis listened to Nick's ideas and drew up several sketches. According to Nick, the sketch he drew up was pretty spot on to the ring he picked up several weeks later. Though Luis had promised that he could change anything we didn't like, there was definitely not a need for that and I can't imagine wanting to change anything. I am amazed by Luis's work--this ring is absolutely beautiful with lots of gorgeous and intricate detailing (not trying to brag about my ring here--just want to give credit where credit is due!). I cannot reiterate enough how happy I am that I never gave Nick any ideas about what I wanted because I bet I wouldn't have ended up with this beautiful custom made ring designed by my future husband and Luis. I found out after the fact that Nick had actually bought the main stone in the ring from a friend who is also an antique dealer. He said Luis did not mind at all using the diamond he brought in (I wasn't sure if he would be irritated to lose that sale). Nick also said that Luis did not push the purchase of wedding bands (even though Nick mentioned them)--rather he encouraged Nick to wait to pick out bands with me as a couple. Nice that he did not push additional sales. I did have one experience myself with Zavius when we went to get the ring resized. Friends had told me to expect the ring to be with the jewelers for at least a week, so I was VERY pleasantly surprised when we went in and Luis simply said, "Give me 45 minutes." 45 minutes later and the ring fit perfectly. :-) The store itself also looked beautiful and, though we didn't look around at the jewelry on display, they seemed to have an extensive selection. We will definitely be back when the time comes to buy our wedding bands. read more

Word of advice, if you make any sort of deal with them make sure to get it in writing so there is no question about the deal that was made. I would like to give them 0 stars for how poor Luis the OWNER treated me! he did not greet me at all to start and he treated me like I was stupid. I went in a couple month's ago to looks at rings with my boyfriend, and our experience in my opinion was alright, but I went in by myself to see if there was a ring that they could make and pricing. I saw a beautiful style from Hearts on Fire and loved the look of the ring, but they do not make that style anymore and it was out of my price range. I asked Luis what he could do, and he kept talking over me and being rude and dismissing my research and opinions, he even talked horribly about other local jewelers (which to me sounds like he threatened by the work of others. At one point he compared me to a much larger person (an analogy about diamonds vs other diamonds) and asked me who would look better in the eyes of society? first of all that is a HORRIBLE analogy! why would anyone compare diamonds to people's weights and say who would look better?? that is disgusting and so is he! Why would anyone treat anyone that way? I will go out of my and tell everyone how awful this was. read more
