The first impression I got from this location. It seem like nothing worked. The soda machines had majority of there option out(on both machines). The the order system didn't work, I had to wait ten before my order was submitted. The women's bathroom door does not close properly. There weren't any toilet tissue. I ordered a Cobb salad in the drive through. The egg was rotten or pickled or something. It looked fine but tasted terrible & I had to spit it out. The chicken wasn't right either. It seemed old, undercooked and yet dry and stringy. Also had to spit out. There was an old fry included with almost 1/2 piece of bacon. Very little lettuce and a lot of it wilted. Overall, I was so grossed out I couldn't eat any of it. Also got my cookie order wrong and the cookies were barely cooked, raw in the middle. Not a huge issue, but given the horrible quality of the rest, not sure I even want to risk the cookie. A total waste of money and time. The last time I came here, I had a similar experience and that was not the first bad experience. Wish getting a decent drive through salad wasn't such a crap shoot. Hello, I am hoping that I am reaching someone who values customers, and customer service. My name is Carolyn, I was a customer at the Ponce de Leon restaurant on last Saturday. I had a very unfortunate experience while spending a lot of money. The cashier and drive thru worker were extremely rude to me and my family. The line was extremely long , we were extremely patient, only to be greeted rudely and unprofessionally by the employees. For physical description, there were two black females; one of a lighter complexion, with lots of tattoos on her arms and maybe neck; she also had nose piercings in each nostril. The other female was a much much darker skinned, skinnier than the other girl with a huge afro and an adidas jacket as her uniform. From the time we reached the speaker the girls were rude, impatient and hostile. She stated that they were only receiving cash. We ordered. Paid. And checked the food. As she handed the drinks, I asked if she had drink holders, she said no while rolling her eyes. I asked for a bag to hold them she rolled her eyes again as she snatched it out the window toward me. She left off a drink(which was actually an entire meal deal) and she made me dig out the receipt as if we'd left the window/restaurant. I finally found it, gave it to her she saw it was her mistake, offered no apology and handed me a leaky drink after only speaking with the girl with the afro about it, ignoring my statements. We pulled off, but had to come back after making it about 3 miles away. After making it back to the front of the line to retrieve what we'd already paid for, she was upset to see us again. I proceed to tell her she left of the Wings & Things order, she again rolls her eyes, and demands the receipt. This time, unbeknownst to me, the receipt is buried in the food bags. Once we find it maybe 10 mins later, she yells "oh its because we aint got no traditional wings". Tired of her ridiculous attitude I say "ok, what does that mean?" "we ain't got it she replied staring me down. So, I tell her to do a refund. She hastily throws the money. I asked for the managers name, to which she deeply rolled her eyes, closes the window never to return. I wait 15 mins, no return and I decided I'd contact everyone I could find and do the feedback. I do understand that things in this country are crazy at the moment. I don't however understand why this employee decided to work and have such a disgusting attitude with seemingly all customers, and especially myself. I'd been craving this food for months(maybe years) and this experience turned me completely off. Customer service =HORRIBLE. which in turn made the food as horrible as her attitude. (which wasnt prepared the best either, cold food and wilty salad) I hope this reaches someone capable of making a change. This staff certainly needs it. I don't like to spend my time doing such things, but obviously this was brutal and unnecessary. Midtown Zaxby's opened July 15, 2013 on Ponce De Leon next door to shady Taco Bell. I'm not a huge fan of Zaxby's mainly because I generally find the chain's food to be too salty and unhealthy. Granted, I love to eat lots of unhealthy stuff, but I'd rather go to nearby Popeye's or a Chick-fil-A if I'm looking to fill my fast food chicken fix. Admittedly, I do find Zaxby's Texas toast to be scrumptious -- every last bit of those buttery, garlic spread-soaked slices. I've only been to this Zaxby's in the evenings where the clientele appears to mostly be young people and college students. I once saw a sketchy individual walk inside with what looked like a grey toolbox. He approached customers eating dinner and gave them some sort of spiel, probably trying to sell them something or ask for money. This kind of activity isn't uncommon in the neighborhood as my friend's parents got robbed at gunpoint in the adjacent parking lot and a creepy man once tried to sell me gold chains from the inside of his jacket pocket at the Krispy Kreme down the road. Compared to other fast food or fast-casual restaurants on Ponce, this Zaxby's is nice because it's newer. Like other Zaxby's locations I've been to, this store is popular. Both the drive-thru and ordering line inside are typically busy. Most meals cost $7-8 each. Foods I've tried at this location include the Spicy Fried Mushrooms "Zappetizer," the Boneless Wings Meal, and the House Zalad (both grilled chicken and fried chicken varieties). I've tried the Spicy Fried Mushrooms twice. On both occasions, I had the expectation they might actually be good, but they are just too squishy and greasy for me. It's kind of like eating soggy, battered, grease chips. The oil just explodes in your mouth. Blech. The Boneless Wings Meal comes with wings, crinkle fries, celery sticks, and Texas toast. I've tried the original and teriyaki sauces on the boneless wings. Not good, particularly the teriyaki sauce. The sauces are just too thick, sticky, and overwhelming. The crinkle fries are alright. They're just fries. Fortunately, Zaxby's doesn't load a ton of salt on their fries like they do their fried chicken. The House Zalads are "meh." Each Zalad comes with mixed greens, red cabbage, carrots, cucumbers, Roma tomatoes, cheddar and Jack cheeses, fried onions, chicken (fried or grilled), and Texas toast. In my experience, while satisfactorily fresh at best, the lettuce, cucumbers, and tomatoes are often soggy and somewhat wilted. These aren't qualities for an appetizing salad. I prefer my veggies nice and crisp. In the salad, you might be better off going with the fried chicken instead of the healthier grilled chicken alternative. The pieces of grilled chicken meat are strangely very soft and uniform throughout. It makes me wonder how much real chicken I'm eating. Perhaps I'm just used to eating drier, chunkier, chewy chicken meat with identifiable muscle strands. For as much as they charge for a Zaxby's Zalad ($7 and change), I'd rather spend about the same or a few dollars more and eat high quality, all-natural chicken from Bantam + Biddy, Chick-a-Biddy, or Delia's Chicken Sausage Stand. Zaxby's has both "Ranch Dressing" and "Ranch Sauce." I have no idea what the difference is between the two as the ingredients listed for both are exactly the same. The Lite Vinaigrette dressing looks like pink slime and tastes artificial. Service is okay. I don't think the service at this Zaxby's is significantly different than other locations I've been to. One thing I have noticed that's different is if you order water, staff will fill your water cup behind the counter and hand you a full cup of water. This is probably to prevent theft of drinks from the fountain machine. Again, this doesn't surprise me because I once saw kids steal soda from the fountain drink machine at the Taco Bell next door. They brought in outside cups, filled up on sodas, and left. Good for the folks at Zaxby's for being proactive. read more

But I was annoyed after going through the drive-thru, paying $15 for wings and things and $13 for a chicken finger plate only to get home and see the chicken was skimpy and they had put no sauces in the containers. I drove back to get the sauces and explained what happened. I got the sauces, but didn't receive an apology. I asked for a coupon or something to make up for the inconvenience, and they said they can't do anything with no hint of sympathy. I was polite and didn't push. The customer service experience and the quality of the food has continuously declined over several months at the 3821 Hacks Cross Road location in Memphis, TN. I'm beyond fed up and refuse to tolerate this any future. Today I went through the drive-thru and the smell at the back of the store was HORRIBLE. I'm not sure if it garbage, sewage or grease...or all of those things...but that's unacceptable and a horrible representation of the restaurant. I shouldn't have to request that my food be fresh and hot, but I did request that my food be fresh and hot (as usual...smh), but yet AGAIN, my food was NOT fresh and hot (although I paid nearly $20 for the order...and was told at the window that they didn't have any coleslaw - the most SIMPLE food item on earth to prepare ‍). When I checked my order before leaving the window and found out that my food wasn't hot, I asked for fresh hot fries and the employee gave me nasty attitude and intimidating stares while I waited for the fresh hot fries. I attempted to request fresh hot chicken too, but the employee closed the window and turned her back to me and the employee standing in front of her looked between that employee and me laughed about the first employee's apparent nasty behavior and comments (that I couldn't hear). This is one of the best Zaxby's locations I've been to!!! Wayyy better than my hometown's. The line was a little backed up, but they had a really sweet staff member come outside to take orders. She was so sweet and even told me that I looked pretty! (I'm bald and have cancer so that was really nice of her!) The food was nice and fresh. They gave us lots of it, as well. Our kids meals came with tons of extra zaxby's sauce (free of charge!) and they gave us two chocolate chip cookies. They were delicious! The fries and chicken were very hot and fresh. The fried cheese curds were perfect--usually, at other locations they are burned, greasy, or not as cheesy and good. But these were PERFECT! Sweet tea and coke to drink were good, and not watered down or gross. TLDR; they were not stingy! Line was a little long, but everyone there was so nice, they smiled, and seemed to enjoy their jobs and that we were there to get their food. We had plenty of food and sauces! I've been here 3 times and each time has been on par with other Zaxby's locations. This location seems to be better about managing a crowd than others. I have been here when there have been 15 people ahead of me and still been served in a decent amount of time. The only negative about this location is the parking lot. The Texas toast was stale and hard, they gave me a chicken finger box without the coleslaw but didn't say anything even though they charged me full price and didn't offer me anything to substitute it until I was about to drive off and noticed it. Then they admitted they were out of coleslaw. They gave me like 12 fries and said they couldn't give me more because they "had to weight them and could only give 4oz". Although this Zaxby was drive-through only and the line was wrapped around the building it's still does not excuse the mistakes they made when we went through. After about an hour of waiting in line, we finally got to have our order and we can only put one order per car. I ordered mine online. When we got up to the window they handed us our food when we checked my friends was nuclear boneless wings and he ordered plain chicken tenders with Zaxby sauce. Mine was supposed to have Zack sauce and ranch, I only got ranch. My tenders were also supposed to be playing with his tongue torch on the boneless wings, and both had some sort of different sauce on them both. It was also extremely difficult to eat wings drenched in sauce with my bare fingers because they not give me a fork and coleslaw was especially hard as well. I have eaten at a number of Zaxby's over the years (including this one) but this location has really gone down hill since opening. When I pulled into the parking lot, there was litter (paper, run over cups, etc) everywhere. I placed my usual order - Big Zax Snack with a cup of water instead of a soft drink. Typically when I order this "combo" with water, they take $1 off and give me a clear plastic cup of water. When I got to the drive thru I asked and the lady said, "oh no, water is the same price as a soft drink". I didn't bother to argue the point with her. When I opened the container I was so disappointed with what I had received. The one reason I have always liked Zaxby's is the consistent quality of the food. However, this time was not the case. The chicken was so over fried that it was tough, French fries and toast were cold (the toast was so cold it was hard as a brick). Suffice to say, I have no intention of returning to this location again and will think long and hard before I pull into another location. I completed their survey, but as Nathan R. mentioned above in his review, I don't expect to hear back from Zaxby's. Every time I come there is always an issue, wrong order, missing item, and attitude from the staff. They always give you a half order of fries. They close early randomly with no note on the doors or anything. They randomly close their carry out station. Nothing is consistent. Like, at all. Its always a headache, and a long line.
