My friends LOVE MetroFresh-- particularly my vegetarian friends, so I decided to give it a try. I think the food was decent, but I didn't love it. I hate to say it, but it didn't particularly compel me to see to go back. I think the prices are fair, and I can see this being a perfect, healthy lunch-break spot for professionals in thd area who want fresh food. The kale salad was no my favorite. It was soaked in dressing/vinaigrette, which made it limp and I didn't love the flavor. The service was incredibly efficient given the busyness and super friendly! MetroFresh is a fast-casual eatery featuring fresh, healthy, and creative food. It is located in Midtown Promenade, near the Monroe Dr. and 10th Street entrance of Piedmont Park. It is MARTA-accessible via the 809 bus. MetroFresh is very bright and welcoming, with a cute coffee/wine/cocktail bar in the back of the restaurant. I enjoyed the 80s music playing in the background. The staff were extremely friendly and happy to answer questions and offer samples of salads and soups. We ordered Seared Thai Coconut Salmon, Mitchell's Turkey Chili Lunch Special (included cookie and drink), and fruit salad. I sampled the Apricot and Pear Basil Chicken Salad. My salmon was delicious. The protein was cooked to a perfect medium, and the stir-fry vegetables were cooked evenly and remained just firm enough to handle the rich sauce. The sweet chili sauce & coconut milk packed a flavorful punch, and I am looking forward to eating my leftovers. My husband always orders the turkey chili, as it is definitely one of the better ones in Atlanta. It is always well seasoned, with a generous amount of beans and just enough cheese and sour cream for dressing. I appreciated the different fruits in the fruit salad (plums, kiwis, grapes, strawberries, and pineapples). The cookie was good but not as memorable as their brownies. While I appreciated the freshness of the chicken salad, I found it needed salt and diversity of flavors. I've been going here for years and just realized I gave it four stars many, many years ago. It has long earned five stars and I offer my sincere apologies to Mitch and the team for not updating this earlier. Metrofresh is amazing and has gotten only better since it opened 20 years ago. There is always a wonderful array of soups, with a veggie selection or two for those so inclined. I can't think of a bad soup I've eaten there. The sides are always fresh and great. There are a few veggie options but plenty of chicken- and fish-based sides as well. The fresh fruit salad is always a winner. I don't eat the sandwiches so often, but the ones I've had are excellent, always fresh with good bread. My wife usually orders the entrees and is never disappointed. Even the couple times I've gone for breakfast have been tasty. The staff is always friendly. And you can find some good take-home deals in the fridge. Add the thoughtful menu of wine and beer at the bar and you have an all-around ideal neighborhood eatery. I look forward to another 20 years. read more

This place reminds me of somewhere you can go to buy food that you sorta feel good paying a bit of a price tag for. It's a mix of small Panera and Whole Foods salad bar vibe. I do not think it's a destination restaurant. It's a "oh I just had my mani/pedi and this will make me feel I've made good decisions for eating today and will eat here." They offer split plates with the options of a main and a salad, just salad or a salad and a sandwich or soup. Portions are good, if you are use to eating a lot then you will be disappointed and not see the value. What I can tell is everything always seems very fresh. Love the freshness of everything. First time coming into this place. I had a bowl of the vegan creamy mushroom soup and a bowl of the bone broth. Both were amazing the creamy mushroom though was not to be played with it made me realized I ate the whole bowl in a matter of scoops. Metro Fresh is one of my favorite spots in the neighborhood. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee, sweet treats, happy hour - they have it all, and all of it is made with love. The servers / chefs are a dedicated team, and even the patrons are regulars, which truly helps it's neighborhood feel. I'm here quite often (sometimes for a quick lunch and other times for coffee / to get some work done). The food is fresh and healthy and the vibes are friendly. Great outdoor seating too! Other tips: -Their dinner menu changes daily and is updated on their website. MF's owner, Mitchell, also updates the site with his "Thought" of the day. It reads like a letter from an old friend. -They have a points system. One point for every $10 purchase; 10 points equal $6 off. -They have karaoke and trivia nights! I have yet to attend either despite how often I frequent MF, but it's on my "to-do-soon" list! -The cookies are SO good. I really like MF. The owner clearly puts a lot of care into making sure that the dishes are just right. I have literally never had anything but great food here, except for one time when our takeout spring mix was a little wilty. Easy to write that one off though. While it's not cheap, the rewards program helps. There are only 2 things that you should be aware of - the dinner menu doesn't change often and there aren't a ton of options, so check the daily menu before you go. And on weekends in summer (IDK if it's dedicated to Fri/Sat or not) they often have a very, very loud guitarist playing 90s rock covers. So if you enjoy Creep by Radiohead from some rando with your meal, this is the place for you! And you can usually sit outside anyway, and the doors are usually closed so it's not a big deal. read more

And I'm so glad I took that risk here! I am so thankful for MetroFresh!! MF is so ingredient conscious they almost put me to shame! I have so many overlapping allergies and they took their time to explain what was in each option and asked the kitchen if there was any chance of cross contamination. I looooove love love their bone broth! Sometimes it is cooked down with carrots (allergic), so I can't always eat it, but when I can - bioy is it a treat! Yesterday, I tried the tuna and chickpea salad. It was good, but I actually added it to some arugula when I got home and it was even better! I also went for the sliced chicken (enormous portion) and the most romantic peach Caprese salad I've ever eaten. I am savoring every last bite. This will legitimately last me about 4 meals and it cost less than $20. The value for the quality of this food is FANTASTIC. read more

A must stop at anytime I'm in VA Highlands or the nearby areas. I absolutely love the concept & execution of this place. I am really big into places that have an ever changing menu & options. It pushes you to try new things while also adding that excitement when you show up & see something you really like or was hoping would be there. The food is always very fresh and high quality and the staff is friendly. The service is fast and there's lots of seating inside/outside to enjoy your food there or take it to go if you're in a rush. The prices were also very reasonable too. I almost always leave with a little to go box which is a plus & if I do decide to eat it all I'm not miserably full. Definitely more health conscious/lighter options compared to other choices in the area. I'm not too big on breakfast but I never miss lunch, so I love any kind of deli/lunch/brunch type atmosphere & I especially love this place. Definitely worth a visit! read more

I love the menu, staff, location and patio. I meet a group of friends for breakfast here once a week on the patio. The problem is the grounds crew blow their leaf blowers every time along the parking lot and sidewalk. It's loud, stinky but usually only 5 or so minutes. Today the guy ran his blower for a LONG time completely blocking our conversation and stinking up the place with fuel smells. He was aware of us sitting there and seemed to linger longer than usual. Is it necessary to blow every leaf while people are eating and having a conversation less than 20 feet away. I am noise adverse, granted, but today was ridiculously loud and long. How about blowing the area early in the morning when customers are not around - like before 8am. This is a commercial property area so a 8am blower would not disturb humans. Thank you. read more

MetroFresh is a casual lunch and dinner restaurant located in the shopping center with Trader Joe's, Mellow Mushroom and Starbucks across the street from the Grady High School Football Stadium. MetroFresh is an excellent option for lunch. This is where you can get the best deals and the most bang for your buck. I have not attend for a dinner however it is something I would try, especially when they put on some of their seasonal and special themed dinners. MetroFresh has a pretty good mix of options during their lunch hours. The main categories consists of salads, sandwiches and soups. The soups have always been great and are constantly changing. The salads are the best things that MetroFresh makes, with a couple of them (fruit salad, mixed greens with goat cheese) always being on the menu. They also always have some type of chicken available at lunch. The sandwiches are not my favorite are often times very basic. How MetroFresh works is everyday the menu changes, there are quite a few staples, but they do try to keep it fresh and adding new things. This can be great but also frustrating if you like certain things but they aren't on the menu that day. MetroFresh has a great open space with patio seating available too. They have tons of drink options and also a loyal points system if you return to the restaurant. For me, I live in and work out in the area around MetroFresh. It's a great place for me to have a healthy meal after a workout or when I am craving one in general. Their food is always fresh, which is a staple of the restaurant. I'm a Serv Safe Certified Commercial Kitchen Manager. I ordered a two-item combo: chili and a sandwich. When I got about 1/2 way through my chili I found a sliver of soft plastic about 1 1/2 inches long. It appeared to be part of a plastic wrap. When I took the bowl up to the counter to discretely show one of the servers, she took the bowl & apologized and that was it. When I followed up with the manager, he said that he knew where the object came from and also said it wasn't a big deal. Ummm, it is most definitely a big deal and the whole batch is supposed to be discarded. I told him, "I can see it's not a big deal to you, but it's certainly a big deal to me and anyone else who may find it in their food." No one can be confident that they will change the way they prepare food because the manager doesn't think its a big deal. Also, they did NOT discard the batch of chili. They continued to serve it. MetroFresh is a locally owned fast casual restaurant serving mostly soups, salads, and sandwiches. It's located at the Midtown Promenade shopping center, the same one as Trader Joe's, near Piedmont Park. The restaurant has been around for several years now and there's also a location at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. This location underwent a renovation in early 2013. The new space is open, spacious, and modern. There's a covered outdoor patio decorated with plenty of plant life. Inside, there's a (wine) bar and a glass display case showing off each day's freshly made salads. The draw for the restaurant is in its name -- fresh ingredients, some of which are locally sourced, with a menu that changes daily. The result is an eatery that feels like a cafe or bistro with gourmet and "farm-to-table" like menu items. I like the concept because it's hard to find fresh, healthy, and affordable, casual dining-out options. This is one of them, though disappointingly, I can't say I've walked away a huge fan of this place. The best time to visit MetroFresh is for lunch, their busiest time. This is when most everything seems to be at its freshest. While new entrees are cooked up for dinner only, they still serve some of the leftovers for lunch in the evenings and it's not as good (at least, that's been my experience). Expect to spend roughly $5 per salad, soup, or 1/2 sandwich (all day) and about $15 for each dinner entree. I think salads are what MetroFresh does best. If it's not too busy, ask to sample some. It's a great way to try out the many interesting and unique salads offered. A few examples include marinated kale with roasted beets and peaches, curry potato and roasted corn salad with field peas and yogurt dressing, orzo pasta tuna salad with veggies and white beans, and heirloom tomato panzanella salad with shaved Parmesan and Kalamata olives. One salad I've particularly enjoyed is the roasted watermelon radish and jicama salad with cucumbers and mint. The fruits and vegetables are indeed fresh and ripe, so salads are definitely the way to go. Soups typically include chili, gumbo, gazpacho, and lentil soup. Others examples include creamed corn and butternut squash soup and sweet pea and dill soup. The chili or "Mitchili," named after the owner, seems to be one of the staple items. I think it's okay. It's certainly thick and hearty, but the bean-to-meat ratio weighs heavily in favor of beans, giving the chili a noticeably pasty consistency. I prefer meatier chilis. The sandwiches have generally been underwhelming. They are small, dense, pre-made (presumably early in the day) and pre-wrapped sandwiches, the kind you'd find on display in a cafe's open-air fridge or at an airport kiosk to go. The ingredients are fine, but the sandwiches themselves are cold, hard, and a bit lifeless. I kind of expect a made-to-order sandwich from a place like this. Dinner entrees are full fledged plates of protein, carbs, and vegetables. I've tried the seared salmon cake with haricot vert and jasmine rice. The dish was okay and I believe it was freshly prepared, though I'm not sure if it was worth the price ($16). Aside from the salmon cakes, which were flavorful thanks to the sweet chili sauce on top, the rest of the plate seemed ordinary. The jasmine rice was hard and somewhat dry, leading me to believe it may have been overcooked. Service is good. The staff seems cool. You pay upfront, most beverages are self-serve, and orders are brought to your table. The food comes out from the kitchen in a reasonable amount of time. In the end, I like MetroFresh's concept, ingredients, and service, but I think the actual foods served are hit or miss. read more
