I discovered Zaxby's earlier this year and can't believe I didn't try them sooner. They have some delicious chicken and are a wonderful gem in the East Coast. Being from California i've never had the opportunity to try them when I was younger, although apparently they've been around for quite some time (20+ years!) I've tried their Wings & Things menu item a couple of times which is plenty for one person but a little small for two people. The Wings & Things includes a few wings, a few chicken tenders, toast, fries, and a few sauces. Please note, this particular combo does NOT come with a drink which I didn't realize on more than one occasion. Their wings are definitely unique and tasty, although I would put their prices in the ball park of a little pricy. Their quality makes up for the higher prices though imho and I'm officially a fan of Zaxby's. Thank you for existing and thank you for serving us hungry ATLiens guys. Have a positive day.

Don't ask for any extra Zac sauce - they'll try to charge you .25 for it !! No one charges for extra condiments - NO ONE !!!

I had the grilled salmon with broccoli and sweet potato. Clean and simple, but boy, was everything flavorful! The broccoli was probably my favorite. Perfectly crisp, not overcooked at all, with these delicious pan-charred edges and great seasoning. The salmon was cooked around medium and was really nice, especially for a place that has the ease and convenience of quick-service food but tastes much more farm-to-table. The space itself is casual, colorful, bright, and full of natural light, and it's in such a cute area of Atlanta. I really enjoyed the whole experience. Definitely becoming my go-to spot whenever I'm in town and my body is screaming, PLEASE GIVE ME SOME VEGETABLES!

However, I'm from a city with a strong African food influence, so for me, the jollof was simply food for sustenance. It filled the need, but it wasn't particularly memorable. The plantain chips were the biggest disappointment. They were honestly embarrassing. Packaged Chifles would have been more flavorful and satisfying. There were several things I appreciated. The menu is very friendly to pescatarians, vegans, and vegetarians, and the staff was patient and helpful in explaining the dishes and their ingredients. The restaurant itself is spacious, comfortable, and inviting. The price point is also reasonable, especially for a mall location. Would I intentionally return? Probably not. But if I were with a group that chose Flower Child, I could definitely find something on the menu and enjoy the atmosphere.

My usual starts with arugula, romaine, and kale, then I add grilled chicken AND Norwegian salmon because apparently one protein just isn't enough for me. From there it's egg whites, hard-boiled egg, cucumber, grape tomatoes, jalapeños, pickled red onion, red bell peppers, olives, aged Parmesan, feta, crispy shallots, and Parmesan crisps. I have them mix everything with the Creamy Caesar and skip the bread. Yes, by the time I'm finished adding everything it's basically a $28 salad. LOL. But it is HUGE, filling, and has enough going on that I actually feel like I ate a meal and not some sad bowl of lettuce. What I like most about Chopt is being able to customize everything. I want spice, crunch, protein, cheese, vegetables...all of it. And somehow once they chop and mix everything together, every bite has a little bit of everything in it. The Buckhead location is convenient when I'm in the area and want something quick that still feels like an actual meal. Could I build a cheaper salad somewhere else? Absolutely. Would it have my salmon, chicken, two kinds of egg, two cheeses, olives, jalapeños, crispy shallots AND Parmesan crisps? Probably not.

Unfortunately, there aren't enough fast food joints with a focus on fresh salads but lucky for me, Doc Green's was right on my pathway for the day. Located in a huge plaza in Smyrna, Doc Green's is a salad lovers dream. I can't believe this was my first visit! The restaurant itself is narrow but long, offering plenty of seating in the back of the place, as well as the entryway. Doc Green's is actually paired with another restaurant it seems, but I was focused on the salad. They have some recommended combos but you can also create your own with a wide array of toppings. I was in heaven looking at all of the fresh veggies, proteins and dressings available. I decided to create my own and just went wild. I was super bummed because I ended up forgetting some favorites (like avocado) because I didn't see/notice them on the cold bar. I chose my dressings, had it mixed up and then checked out. I opted for a fountain drink and unfortunately, the lemonade was toooooo sweet. But that was the only downside because my salad was wonderful!! Everything was fresh, the portions were generous and I felt like I got my money's worth. I'm always in the Akers Mill plaza buying things I don't need so I can't wait to grab another salad at Doc Green's when I'm in the neighborhood!

I had about 30 minutes for lunch and I decided to stop here. This was my first time coming here. Original ChopShop is at the end of one of two rows of business buildings in a shopping center. During lunch time on a weekday when I visited, parking spaces were hard to come by because there are many popular places to eat here. The order counter is just a few steps in front the entrance. Large menus are display are above the counter. Lots of natural light streamed through the large windows in the front of the store, and the side and ceiling of the large indoor dining area feature glass windows, making it feel like you're dining outdoors without experiencing the elements or insects. However, there is an outdoor patio if you actually do want to experience the elements and insects. The dining room was very clean. I got to Original ChopShop at around ten minutes past noon. Surprisingly, there were only about 15 people, although the restaurant can seat a whole lot more customers than that. In spite of not having that many customers, it still took 20 minutes for my order to be delivered to my table. I had ordered a grilled steak sandwich on multi-grain bread. The sandwich included grilled sirloin, caramelized onion, fontina, arugula, apple, mushroom, horseradish creme, and soy sesame sauce. The presentation was nice, but I thought the flavors were just awful, with the main flavor being "burnt." The grilled sirloin was tender, but its flavor was ruined by the caramelized onions and/or the mushroom. I was also expecting the bits of steak to be hot, but it wasn't. Something tasted really off. I had only taken one bite and that was enough. I did eat the pickle, which tasted great! I really had to leave to get to work, anyway. This was not a good experience.

Everything is locally sourced so she told us what would be leaving the menu soon. I got the "monk's last word" cocktail, and my husband got an old fashioned. There was an extensive wine list also. The burrata and tomato salad appetizer looked simple but was surprisingly delicious. We also got mussels and they gave us extra bread to sop up the yummy creamy sauce. For our entrees, my husband got the ribeye. It tasted a bit like bacon. He asked for it to be cooked on the more rare side of medium rare, and it was. We both felt he makes steak better, but it was good, even if a little dry. My papardelle pasta was also good. I finished it. It's a beautiful, airy space with plenty of seating, perfect for a relaxed weekday brunch. The quiche rotates seasonally with fresh, in-season ingredients, which I appreciated. However, my lavender latte wasn't great, and it was my first coffee of the day. While I liked that the syrup was house-made, it didn't quite justify the price, especially when I can't count on a solid caffeine fix because it had such a bitter and sour taste to it. The latte art was worth the photo but not the price. Overall, I'd give it a 3 out of 5 just for the delicious quiche. Also loved their market area for fresh homemade picnic-style items & bevs. It's a lovely spot for journaling or catching up with a friend, but not somewhere I'd splurge on regularly.
