Stopped in for dinner last night. Wasn't busy and I see why. I ordered the beef kabob bowl. Decided to eat there. The service was friendly but the food was not. The beef had a good marinade but it was tough to chew. The salad was losing color and did not look appetizing so I picked around and ate the veggies. The rice was the best tasting part of the bowl. I wish I had flipped over the onion and took a picture of the hair that was on it. I just put it to the side. I will not be back. read more

I came in to order lunch to go and it took them 30 minutes to make it, even though it was empty and no one had ordered before me. The ambiance was clean and nice, kind of like a nicer chipoltle in there. However, their menu prices are high considering that it's not a server sit down place and they had no lunch specials or combos. The food itself was bad and you can tell all of the components had been sitting there. It was edible but neither the gyro platter or the kefte sandwich were anything good. The portions were also small, i have never seen a more laughable amount of hummus on the side at any Mediterranean place. The platter had old gyro, old rice, and old pita. Even the vegetables on top to garnish tasted gross because they weren't fresh and had absorbed the meat smell. the food was warm but stale and lacked fresh flavor. The sandwich was a decent size and a decent price but again the tahini sauce they used was old and made it really hard to eat or enjoy. Worst part was the 3% credit card surcharge that's not advertised anywhere. Again with the prices of the food there should be no reason for the surcharge. You're better off going to get pizza at the next block. read more

I fell in love with this place - recently moved to the area and for some reason this was the very first place we tried in our new home and it DID NOT disappoint. So happy we went with this choice & we've had it again since then, that's how good of an experience we had. On top of that, it was delivered, so it wasn't "super fresh out of the oven" and it was still superb. We ordered the chicken shawarma plate with hummus and they hooked it up with the naan bread! Loved it all, especially the portions. My favorite part is that I did not feel sluggish afterwards, like I would with a burger or something greasy unhealthy. Ordered catering for my birthday party and Zayna did not disappoint! All of my favorite dishes: Hummus, salad, baba ghanush, delicious rice, kefta kabob and chicken kabobo. all were delivered hot and ready to be served. Even received free baklava which saved the day since we didn't have birthday cake. They've got the best Mediterranean food in the city!!! Open until 1 am and totally underrated. I always get the gyro plate and fries and it's delicious every time. The employees are fast and polite, and the place doesn't have a ton of foot traffic on weekdays so all the more reason to visit. Food is definitely overpriced. I had their combo platter and finished my plate. my plate came out to be closer to $25. The chicken, beef and lamb were good. The meat/protein was little dry but the hummus and pita bread was exceptional. Also the decor inside is outdated and the tables and chairs are chipped and stained. The tables are not cleaned so I sat at a table that was a little sticky. I was one of the first ones in there! I ordered a drink and they were sold out so they gave me another drink of my choice and and another free drink bc of the "inconvenience!" Ordered delivery off UberEats. This place reminds me of a food court type spot in the mall in terms of quality. Some place you visit while shopping and gets the job done. Food (6.5/10): I ordered the gyro plate which comes with 2 pieces of bread. The sauce that my fellow Yelpers have mentioned is indeed delicious, however only about 1-2 spoons of it is given on top. It's a tease that makes you wish they gave you sauce on the side or at least more than a piece of meat's worth. The gyro itself was standard in texture but lacked some flavor. The rice was standard and the side salad was basic. As a starving student I didn't have any issues at all demolishing this dish but I'm sure if I'd recommend to others. The food is OK (when they have food in stock--they are often out of things--also, REALLY small portions), but just had the worst experience and I doubt I will be going back. Their chicken shawarma sandwich is listed as $6.49 on the menu. I was charged $9.90. When I questioned it, she shrugged and said the menus were "old prices." That's a 40% increase (!!!) before tax, which they don't tell customers about. So dishonest and slimy. I get prices going up 10%, maybe even 15-20% because of inflation, but this FAR outpaces that. The five-star reviews seem similarly dishonest. I've never had a five-star experience there, but the one-star reviews accurately describe my prior experiences. I wanted to give this place a chance, and know running a restaurant during the pandemic was tough. But this was the last straw. Pay attention to the poor reviews, and question the veracity of the good ones. read more

Stopped in here for a quick bite after a show. Like that they are open a bit later than some other spots in the area. The hummus was REALLY good- very authentic and flavorful. Probably one of the best I've tried in Chicago. Falafel was also very authentic and tasty, but a little stale from the end of the day. Not a huge deal as I made some pita sandwiches from the hummus and falafel- was soooo good. Baklava also pretty good as well! But today I went in and not only had terrible customer service but also ordered and paid for several things that they seemed to have forgotten to give me, including two orders of fries and grape leaves. On top of it all, the "large hummus" I ordered was comically small (pictured). I don't know what I did to piss off whoever took and prepared my order, but this ain't it folks lol it's like a spoonful of hummus spread out to purposefully pass off as large. We got the falafel plate and chicken shawarma plate both served with salad, hummus, 1 whole pita, and on a bed of rice. Like holy cow, so much food! The food was delicious and you get plenty of it. It's not a fancy looking place, but I don't care about that. The food was well worth it.

Extremely disappointed with this place. I threw the food I ordered straight into the garbage, and here's why: Walked into this place for the first time the other day (Tuesday 5/17) looking for some good Mediterranean grub. I ordered my food, and noticed the gentleman had very greasy fingers. He was the only person working at that time. He wasn't wearing gloves while prepping the food, and not once did I see him wash his hands after ringing me up. So I'm watching him cook the food, and an Amazon driver comes in with packages. Yep, you guessed it. The worker grabs the packages with his bare hands. At this point, I'm feeling disgusted, and my appetite is absolutely destroyed. After collecting the packages, he goes right back to cooking and packaging my food. I got a wrap, so his germs were ALL OVER that. Needless to say, I'll never be coming back. Imagine if I wasn't paying attention, or ordered online, or got food delivery. I would have for sure gotten some kind of nasty bug. read more
