I'm a healthy eater and found that substitutions were not an issue and was accommodated easily. Good home cooked food! Beef stew special on Tuesday is great. Big chunks of meat. Baked chicken special on Wednesday is to die for. So much flavor in the chicken (the dark kind at least) I've also had the blackened fish salad, which was ok. Would have preferred a little more seasoning on fish but still all in all good. Gets busy at lunch and the wait staff busts their butt for it, so props to them. read more

Haven't been here in a while so we decided to grab dinner. Ordered 2 shrimp po-boys, chili cheese fries and a meat pie. The chili cheese fries and meat pie were good. The shrimp po-boys however were not good. The breading was soggy and falling off, the shrimp also had no seasoning. My husband got just ketchup on his and they barely had any on it. I got mine dressed and they barely had any toppings on it. Definitely not worth the $30 bill. read more

He chose beef stew that was tasty with large chunks of meat, a few potatoes and large serving of green beans or corn and a bun. I chose stuffed pepper with green beans or corn l, macaroni and cheese. and a bun. Food tasty, home-cooked, large volume. Inexpensive, $23 for both of us including tip, taxes and large tea. When I see pictures of restaurants in Louisiana, and they're clean, nicely kept up and modern looking, I don't go there to eat Cajun food. When I see places like Cajun Kitchen, which look like they've been through a few harsh summers and maybe a hurricane or two, cracked walls, boxes packed up in a corner, that's where I want to go. Drove here as soon as we landed in MSY. Got there just a little after they opened. It filled up really quick after that. Our table had a platter of popcorn shrimp, a fish po' boy and two orders of the special - crawfish etouffé and a side of green beans. Being that the orders were huge, I got to taste a lttle bit of everything. The bread/french roll on the po' boy was great. The sandwich was great. Etouffé was everything I wanted. Popcorn shrimp was big and heavy on the breading. I witnessed a man eating a salad with popcorn shrimp on it. He had 3 helpings of dressing to go on it. I'm pretty sure that even though you're eating a salad, that's not that healthy, dude. Service is constantly moving. I just went up and paid at the register. Probably best you go there and order, too. One funny thing was there was a styrofoam cup with something like, "Fund for Jane's Boob Job" written on it. I think it was a tip jar. read more

They were out of oysters so, I got grilled shrimp and a grilled softshell crab. The softshell was paper shell and it was the tiniest crab. The size of half a dollar bill! When I told the waitress that it was too small to serve she just giggled and agreed. I then told her it was paper shell, not soft shelled she giggled again. The shrimp tasted frozen, not fresh. Overall I was extremely disappointed and will not be back. Sadly, the whole issue could've been resolved by serving an adult soft shell crab instead of a baby paper shell. read more

This place is great. Id say the only downside is they get really busy around lunch time and its difficult to get through to place an order. However, your persistence will be well worth it. There is some seating inside maybe ten tables and some poker machines. But let's get to the reason you hit "More". The food is like home cooked, cajun centric and soul food inspired. The poboys are excellent, get the roast beef! They have a pretty standard menu for restaurants of this sort, but they always have great daily specials. Fried catfish topped with crawfish étouffeé, fried catfish or shrimp with really good white beans, your standard red beans and rice. And the portion sizes are huge.. You definitely get what you pay for. Overall it's a great place to eat, and they are huge Saints fans, which is a plus for me! read more

The food here is great. We visit here a lot. One thing, though, and I hope management sees this, there is always one girl busting her butt, and falling behind on her tables. She does the best she can, and is always so sweet and apologetic, but are you purposely keeping the place understaffed to save money? Because the prices certainly don't reflect that. We arrived as the restaurant opened. Good thing we did within 20 minutes it was standing room only. The food was really good the crawfish etouffee with fish was a special and was wonderful. The Po boys bread were to die for. All in all I would definitely come again. And order a crawfish pie too. You won't be sorry. The only drawback was the service the place was so busy that the two girls working had to run their butts off to keep up. It hey it's Saturday at lunch. I've eaten here a few times and the food has never been better than ok. Chicken fried steak was frozen patties and a thin, watery, bland, gravy with cold mash potatoes. That was the last straw.
