My experience over the years with Zealand Spa salon has been hit or miss. Since 2019, when I moved to the area, once in a while I would give the salon another chance. A couple of times, the service was AMAZING. This time it was a BIG MISTAKE. Taking into consideration the prices this salon charges, the quality of certain services are certainly questionable. Today I tried to have my eyebrows shaped. The result: one was higher and much thinner than the other. Plus, the thinner one was shortened by waxing a big portion above the nose. My worst eyebrows job EVER!!! When my daughter saw it (on FaceTime) she laughed and said, "Who did that to you?" Definitely, DON'T GO for EYEBROWS shaping at Zealand!!! Additional note: I just wanted to add, that later in the day I returned to the salon and complained. I DID get my money back, but I was asked to take my review down from Google. Also, I want to mention that because of the way concierge handled my problem, and their total lack of grace, I didn't! Nobody even said "I'm sorry!" The Zealand Spa experience was pretty great! I had contacted the salon through their online appointment request last week. I hadn't anticipated to get a response the next day, but it was really timely because my mom was coming into town this week and I wanted to get us joint hair cuts together while she was here. The process to schedule an appointment was prompt, convenient and friendly and the representative on the other side was very helpful in ensuring we were prepared for the visit. In the days leading up to the appointment today, we had several reminders through tex, call and email which was helpful. (The one recommendation- don't call before 9am on Saturday for the reminder call. It was a bit earlier for us.) We were greeted by Heather when we arrived. She was the stylist I requested for my mom per feedback on Yelp. While Heather expertly worked on my moms cut and color, Erika helped me with a trim and long layering. Both our cuts together were $185 in total. I thought it was pretty reasonable for essentially three different services. Most importantly the hair cuts and coloring turned out wonderfully. Heather did a stellar job matching my moms natural hair color. It looked so organic! Erika also did a great job styling and trimming my hair without taking too much length. Not to mention the interior of the salon was just gorgeous. It really felt like we were transported to a high end New Zealand spa. The decorations were reminiscent of the island without coming across gimmicky. Kudos to the designer! Definitely recommend for your next hair day or ladies day out! A good haircut can be hard to find. I needed a haircut badly (haven't had it cut in like 8 months due to Covid) and took a leap of faith here. Reviews looked good but I never know if a stylist can handle my wavy, unruly hair. Mariah was an absolute life saver. She gave me the haircut I so badly needed. Everything from the length to the layers were perfect. I will be seeing her again in the future for my next haircut. In regards to Covid procedures, they require customers to wear a mask and will take your temperature upon entry. Sanitizers are available when you enter. Their credit card system doesn't allow you to write in your tip, so be sure to bring cash if you want to tip! read more

I went to see Cheryl at Zeeland about a month ago. She specializes in short hair and she did an amazing job on mine. I wanted highlights and I wanted them to look natural and they came out better than I expected. I had been to hairdressers before and what I told them I wanted and what they gave me were two different things so this time I went in armed and ready. I had a list of 10 items that I insisted on i.e.: no layers lower than my temple, blunt cut all the way around, beveled slightly only in back, etc. Cheryl followed my instructions precisely even though I think she would have preferred to do a more customized haircut to suit me better. First off I want to apologize, because I dislike rating a business this low. To me, 3 stars equals average and anything below a 3 stars, is in the no-no zone. Two stars are for cleanliness and customer service (the ladies here are nice, nonetheless). Here is what I knocked off three stars for: 1) My appointment was scheduled at 6pm (note that they close at 8pm, at least I was told), but I called the same day to see if I can move it up to 3pm. It was possible so that was great. 2) I went in there and was seen by my stylist at 2:50pm, did not get out until 6:50pm. Note that, that is 4 hours. 3) Went in for a haircut and highlight/lowlights. Which in the hair salon world means TWO different colors, not two colors mixed together. But my stylist said she will do balayage. I never got that done before, but I figured since I said highlights and lowlights and the two different colors I wanted, she would see my vision, and if she didn't she could have asked more question to find out or tell me to show her. 4) The price difference of both the service was not mentioned. 5) The toner was charged separately. The front desk lady, at the end of my service, explained that they never know when they need to use the toner. Which is fine, but it should be mentioned regardless, because that is related to the service I am having done. 6) My hair did not come out the way I wanted or explained. 7) Haircut- $50 Balayage- $100 Toner- $50 I didn't think I would spend that much, but since I did I should have left with what I asked for. Can't say too many good things about this salon. To start I love the fact they use organic products. Everything from hair to skin care. They even carry the Eminence Organic Skin Care line. These products are very hard to find in the area and are an amazing product line! The salon has this very inviting energy when you walk in. They even do fruit infused waters which is always a nice touch in a salon. Every time I have been here the salon is very clean and organized. I have only done the nail and skin care services but both have been amazing. They are very clean especially when it comes to nail services, which is a huge must for me to get my nails done. You get a set of new clean tools out of the package, filter on the bowl, etc. The facial I had was very relaxing and thorough. I had Sarah do my facial and she is amazing! She is friendly, very enthusiastic and super knowledgable about the products she uses. She explained some different ingredients in the skincare she was using and the benefits. (After a blotched job elsewhere) I came to Zealand for a blonde color correction. I called over, we had a consultation and she gave me a rough estimate of what it would cost. I was so thrilled with the results that I came back to add some color at a later date- same deal with a helpful consolation where I showed picture references and she let me know how high-fashion colors work/the maintenance. I am beyond upset and frustrated with this salon. I chose this place based on the great reviews and it was anything but great. Casey, my hair stylist was terrible. The haircut is shorter than what I asked. It is uneven. There is long pieces of hair here and there sticking out. I asked for a FEW long layers and I got a whole lot of short layers. She was even worse at thinning out the hair. She thinned them from the top, in an awkward uneven way. It looks like someone with a saw ran through it. Also, because the cut was so awful, the lady had a hard time blow drying it. Unfortunately, while I was waiting for the color to set in, she also cut my sister's hair. The hair cut, is just as terrible. The bangs were cut so short that she had a very difficult time drying them.They kept sticking up. After the blow drying, she took out the straighter to see if that would help. But it did not, she apologized for the bangs, and put a whole bottle of hair spray on her hair hoping it would help. Now, she has to use a pin to hold them down and to the side until they grow to a decent length. I hate to say it but the girl had not skills. I have never been so disappointed by a salon before. I had the best experience! My stylist was Brenda and she will continue to be my stylist from now on. I went in to basically get my hair fixed since I got an ombre at another salon that I was not happy with. Then I colored over it with drugstore dye. People would tell me it looked good, but I hated it. I gave Brenda some ideas I found on Pinterest and we went with a reverse ombre. We chose two colors and left my ends blonde. The end result was simply amazing! I could not be happier. All the brasiness is gone and I have gotten compliments already. The staff was really friendly and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. It wasn't loud like some salons are and good music was playing. I love the dye they used on my hair. All natural!! No tingling at all! And my hair is in better condition than when I walked in. So I was upset when I left my old stylist in Milford Mi. Tired of her cancelling on me all the time. I would always bring my mom to this spa and she would see Brenda. So with white hair I braved the change. Making the appointment was easy and quick. They also called me the 2 days before to remind me. Not gonna lie, I was very nervous about someone else doing my hair. Brenda made me new and improved. I would have paid her a hundred dollars just for the shampoo. I love the outcome. Prices are where they should be for cut, color and highlights. The other great part of this experience was the staff and amazing owner. Larenne Clark welcomed me like a girlfriend I've missed since college. The entire staff asked if I wanted a drink or a snack. This isn't a small shop. The new, larger Salon is beautiful. I'm there every 5 weeks like clockwork! Mariah is doing a great job with my short hair. Kristen was out for some months and Larenne did her best to match me up with a stylist she thought would be good for my hair type. I like that they want you to try several stylists until you find the perfect one for you. Many salons are not open to that and I've always felt uncomfortable changing stylist in the same Salon.
