Coming in town with two young kids, we figured pasta would be good and they are noted as kid friendly. The wait staff is great, friendly and engaging with the kids. The menu could offer some more options to the kids, but they have noodles, butter and cheese so that satisfied the younger kids with picky palettes. basic menu which had some offerings for New Year. I opted for the grilled veal chop and ordered it medium, but it was served well. The gorgonzola gnocchi was the start of the fish and I kept utilizing the leftover bland noodles from my wife;s pasta dish to mop up that Gorgonzola sauce. The chop was forgettable. This was on our radar since last year. We were out on a serious mission to carbo-load for a half marathon at 6pm but they had a long line and a reservation log with lots of names. We got smarter this year and I made a reservation 9 months ahead for the same carbo-loading goal. We got seated right away. Service was quite slow when we got seated. Dinner took 2 hours. We wanted to entertain ourselves while waiting by having normal human interaction. But the acoustics were terrible. It was loud and you can hear everyone talking - I'm reliving the headache I got from when I went here. The space is tight too. We tried a few dishes like lobster Ravioli, and carbonara. Turned up without a reservation, the restaurant was packed. The staff did their best to accommodate us, after a ten minute wait we were seated. The menu offered a good selection of staters and mains. This was my favorite Italian restaurant when I used to live in downtown Vancouver, and it's still my favorite now that I'm just a visitor.....really glad they're still around! My father and I had a craving for good Italian food and Zefferelli's has always been first to come to mind.....what was great was that this place was located just a short 2 block walk from our hotel. As soon as we got up the stairs (off Robson) and opened the door, the host immediately saw and greeted us.....and asked if we had a reservation. Ohoh, I thought, the place looked pretty darn full and buzzing, so I immediately thought we were going to get turned away. But no, fortunately, there were still a couple of tables available and we were immediately seated. We were taken care of by a very nice server who took very good care of us all through dinner. As usual, my father would order the Linguine Vongole (with clams, supposedly), I ordered the Chicken Marsala....which comes with spaghetti alio olio), and my friend ordered the Spaghetti al Ragu. Everything was so deliciously good!......EXCEPT......that our server came back several minutes later to let my father know that they were out of clams! OH NO! She offered the alternative of mussels instead, which my father readily ok'd....although I know that his favorite are Manila clams....not mussels. Ah well, at least I got to taste his linguine, and it was absolutely d'lish! Perfectly cooked...perfectly firm. At the end of it all, we decided to share a Tiramisu for dessert.....even though I'm not a dessert person, but my father is. I thought it was good...not too sweet....but I knew I was going to have to work it off at the gym the next morning. Zefferelli's Spaghetti is located on Robson Street in Vancouver. It's between Thurlow and Bute Street on a prime location in downtown Vancouver. However, it is easy to walk pass it because there is only a sign on the street. It is easier to locate it by looking for Cactus Club Cafe on Robson. We ordered a Pizza Margherita and a Linguine Vongole for two to share. Their Linguine Vongole was authentic clams pasta in white wine. They were excellent and huge dishes. Made a last minute dinner reservation for our party of 7. They could only take us at 8pm so we said ok. Glad we did! From the moment we walked in we could tell this was a going to be a good experience. Got seated right away and was provided bottles of water and some delicious bread and marinara sauce for dipping. Our waiter Sean came over to take drink orders first and provided some recommendations. We got the kale Caesar, arugula salad and truffle oil garlic bread. All of it very good! Dinner arrived shortly afterwards and nothing disappointed us. All entrees were very delicious and very fresh tasting. The portions were big and good for sharing with our large group. Can't say enough about how great Sean was from start to finish. He made sure we were ok and enjoying our food. We are only here for a few days and have a lot of plans but we are trying to see of we can make out here one more time before we leave. Came here we a friend and we ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara and garlic shrimps. I wanted Italian soda but unfortunately they don't have that. Guess Italian soda is an American thing. They don't have it here. So Back to the Spaghetti Carbonara. It was tasty. I was hoping that it would be a lot more creamier. It was somewhat on the top salty side. Also if you are sharing a dish, they charge an extra $2 to split the plate. We were fine with that. The portion size was big enough to be shared between two people. We also got an appetizer to share. The garlic shrimps were delicious and garlicy. Dining here comes with complementary bread. I liked the bread but the bread was cold and also the sauce was super cold. Overall, it was a good experience. Our server was super friendly. The decor of the restaurant was clean and nice. They have an open kitchen concept so you can see inside and know how they prepare the food. The restaurant is located upstairs and in terms of foot traffic, it does get busy but not crazy busy. read more

I came here with a couple of friends for dinner tonight. Today the weather was nice, so it was a good walk in downtown and we walked to this restaurant on the second floor. We reserved a table by phone, so we got a table right away. Actually the ambience was nice, but what a coincidence that there was a company gathering or dinner or something that happened at the same time. All those people were super loud and noisy. It was harder for us to chat when we were having dinner. We ordered a dish of mussels, chicken liver, and a couple of pasta to share. The pasta was spaghetti carbonara and penne al salmone. Both dishes were excellent. They were tasty that every single bite had a good amount of sauce and meat. We loved them. The chicken liver tasted great that there were a couple of toasted bread underneath. The only thing that disappointed us was the mussels. We even told our server about them. The mussels were super tiny that I had bigger ones somewhere else. The server answered us that probably it was not the right season. Oh well, we still ate the tiny little mussels but we enjoyed the sauce that went with them. The sauce was extraordinary. The server was friendly and helped us to add water to our glass throughout the whole meal. She also helped us to take a couple of photos even though she was very busy. We really appreciate it. Would I recommend others to come here for Italian food? Yes! The pasta here is good in general. Service is good. Pricing is reasonable. We weren't able to queue up in time to take advantage of the gallery entrance by donation. With the line around the block, sorry frostbite wasn't high on my list. Instead we decided on dinner at Zefferelli's on Robson (2/20/18). This has been in business since 1989, so clearly this Italian restaurant has staying power. Curious the main entrance from street level leads up a flight of stairs....how do folks with crutches, cane, walker, or wheelchair dine here? Anyways, we had no prior reservations after making this decision on the fly. Thankfully, we were seated at a two top by the window. Our polished server told us of this evening's specials, as then left with tasty baguette slices with marinara and chilled water. I'm not a fan of tepid water. Btw additional bread was offered gratis, which was declined to save room for dessert. For starters: Warm Spinach Salad with chevre, bacon, diced tomatoes, and croutons ($12)...delicious distribution throughout. Steamed Mussels with rosemary, garlic, tomato, and cream ($15)...definitely use the spoon provided or save some bread to sop up the rich broth. For pasta entrees: Penne con Salsicce, al dente penne pasta with Italian sausage, roasted red peppers, and tomato sauce ($20)...generous portion with a kick. I had to have 3/4 of my dish boxed up. Tortellini Gorgonzola with added bacon in a creamy blue cheese sauce ($21)...very rich dish. The Homie's teen appetite could only manage half and also had to be boxed up. Parmesan cheese and fresh ground black pepper provided once our hot plated entrees were placed in front of us. For dessert: All I needed to hear was Tiramisu ($8.50). Share? No way. Challenge accepted! As I soldiered through, this portion stealthly undermined me with its construction. The ladyfingers soaked with espresso and rum, didn't have mascapone, but cream cheese with white chocolate shavings. These two unexpected ingredients became a 'Monty Python one thin mint' moment. Salted Caramel gelato ($8.50) was easily consumed in contrast. Overall, a terrific Italian meal with impeccable service. So good that our family came back for seconds! I had made reservation for my family 3 weeks in advance since I knew traveling with a family of 12 people, eating situations would be somewhat of a challenge in Vancouver. Our first night in, family was prepared to chow down! and thank god we were not disappointed. Zeffirelli held up to its standards: good food, good service and friendly staff members. They even called ahead on the same day to confirm my reservation, I had to change the number of people to our party twice and the staff were extremely accommodating. Some of my family members did not make it on our first night so we came back our 5th night in and the staff remembered us and thanked us for coming back, super friendly! The food selection is kept at a minimal - not overdoing it like a lot of other Italian restaurants that called themselves authentic; Zeffirelli keep it to a few dishes only but they were delish. Their wine selection; however, is massive! My dad enjoyed their Chianti very much - paired with his dish, he was an ecstatic man. Their dishes are quite epic so unless you have an appetite of Pooh, sharing is the best way to go. Restaurant is small and homey so if you're family is as big as mine, I definitely recommend reserving a table well-beforehand. Fantastic find for some "out of towners"!! We were in Vancouver for a couple of nights after departing a cruise ship from Alaska. Neither of us had been to Vancouver before, so my wife started sifting through Yelp for some options near our hotel. She found Zefferelli's, it has some good ratings, so we decided to give it a shot. We arrived the the building had "for lease" signs on it and we got worried that we had the wrong location. Turns out the restaurant is on the second floor. We were early for our reservation so we sat at the small quaint bar for a cocktail before dinner. The bartender was very welcoming and offer some suggestions on drinks and wine. A few minutes after we sat down the owner came over and said our table was ready whenever we were. He directed us to a great table near the widow so we could look out over the street. We split a beet and goat cheese salad, which had golden beets and lots of cheese. It was a large salad, and more than enough for 2 people. I had the Linguini Crab pasta dish for the main and it was outstanding!! The pasta cooked perfectly, and the sauce is what I'd call delicate, cream with pesto but just enough pesto for flavor without the typical over-bearing garlic and just the right amount of basil, along with a nice portion of crab meat. The portion was large enough for two, unfortunately I couldn't eat but about 2/3's of portion and I'm a big guy and big eater. My wife had the Spaghetti Carbonara, again a huge portion of cream goodness with all the traditional flavors, said it was amazing. She rated it in her top 5 carbonaras; she a very critical carbonara critic and almost always orders it when it's on the menu. They a nice variety of Italian wines with reasonable prices. We chose a Masi Campofiorin Rosso del Veronese, great value for a Ripasso. Zefferelli's is a "must go" Italian joint that makes transforms you to a older time in New York's Little Italy. The owner was very hospitable while we was zooming around the dining room ensuring his guest were being taken care of. We arrived before 6pm on a Friday evening, and all the window seats were already taken. It was a good sign seeing that they were busy already. The spaghetti carbonara was amazing. The pasta was cooked perfect al dente, and the cream sauce wasn't too heavy or salty. It was just flavourful and delicious. We enjoyed every bite. I thought the mussels were just okay though. The sauce was too salty, and I've definitely had better mussels at other restaurants. The dessert portions were pretty big. The panna cotta was refreshing and not too sweet. The complimentary bread tasted very plain and would have been better with olive oil and vinegar instead of the marinara sauce, but I can't complain much about free bread... The service was very efficient, and we enjoyed the decor. It's a comfortable dining environment. We will return! read more

My co worker had her going away lunch here and we made a reservation for 11:30am and no one else was there yet. We were served warm fresh bread with a tomato sauce (it was a bit cold though) but you can also ask for extra virgin olive oil if you'd like. I ordered the half sized portion ($14.95) of the Linguini Crab and it was delicious! I loved the pesto cream sauce and the portion size was just right for lunch. I tried my friend's Smoked Salmon Penne in a curry cream sauce and it was really good too! I know the curry cream sauce sounds unconventional but it was really well done! You can taste the curry flavour but it's not overwhelming and works really well with everything! You can also get more bread if you'd like. A solid choice for a middle-of-the-road Italian meal. I came here with a friend and her daughter for her daughter's 12th birthday, and it was perfect for the occasion. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, lots of dark wood, wine bottles and atmosphere. It was the first weekend back at full occupancy after the Covid restrictions lifted and the place was full! Our waiter was great, very friendly, fun, and enthusiastic, and made great recommendations. The drinks were good (although cocktail options are limited). The food was plentiful - the pasta dishes are huge! None of us could finish our meals and all got to-go boxes. The pastas were tasty, although fairly basic. I think I am spoiled by the food I have eaten in Vancouver in more upscale restaurants, and it's hard not to compare them. For what it is, I would give Zeferelli's 5 stars, but in comparison with a fancier place, it's a solid 4 when it comes to food. Their menu is very extensive and they have a happy hour going on for select drinks at lunch time. There were about 4-5 daily specials of which a couple really got my attention. I was really craving pasta so wound up ordering the linguini puttanesca. It did not disappoint and I was only able to eat half! They do offer smaller portions though. We started off with the kale caesar, which was pretty normal, and the garlic bread. Garlic Bread came with blue cheese and truffle, and it was delicious. Would definitely recommend. For our mains, i ordered a special, the crab & lobster ravioli. Im not a huge fan of cream based sauces for pasta, but this one was delicious. You could taste both the crab & lobster (unlike some places that give you minimal meat). Others in my party ordered the linguine funghi & linguine salmone. Came here on a weekend with two friends and made sure we had a reservation. From the moment we sat down the waiter rushed us. It was constant, and we had to inform him several times that we either weren't ready to order, or that we weren't yet ready to pay. We were there for less than 90 minutes but it quickly became uncomfortable as guests waiting to be seated were leering at us. Another staff member also began visiting our table frequently enquiring about payment. We finally left... not because of the pressure to leave but because of where we were sitting meant that one of the guests in our party had constant cold air blowing down his neck from the door that was continuously opened. This tucked away gem is a very good, central place for delicious Italian food. The selection of pastas and mains are plentiful, as is their wines. I'm wheat intolerant so seeing the option for gluten free potatoe gnocchi was an added bonus. And with the prosciutto, mushroom and cream sauce I got with it, it was an excellent saucy choice. We were staying just down the street at the Blue Horizon Hotel for several nights before departing on an Alaskan cruise. I found Zeffirelli's on Yelp so we gave it a try. I absolutely loved it! Great ambiance, great service, and fantastic Italian food. And this is way more than a simple pizza and pasta place. It's got very nice upscale Italian dishes like veal picatta, which I had that night. We liked it so much that our group of 6 came back the very next night. This time I had a chef special: crab and lobster ravioli. Best ravioli I have ever had! My only regret is that we do not have an Italian restaurant of this quality in the Charlotte area! read more
