    Oat cereal matcha
    Alesia S.

Stopped by for a quick drink after seeing them online. Tried the oat cereal matcha. It was very good. Sat down and caught up on some reading. It was a little chilly inside and the music stopped playing mid visit. Prior to, they had some great tunes going. It was very busy with lots of downtown foot traffic.

So yum! Very sweet, but I loved all the specialty matchas we tried, and all the baked goods!!

Honestly the drinks are super sweet and a bit overpriced I would say. I've been a couple times and the matcha is not good here, definitely recommend to opt for the coffee based beverages!

Dolphin Cafe is well placed in downtown and has some amazing drinks. The atmosphere is super welcoming, as well as the staff. We decided to try the S'mores Latter as well as the Baklava Latte and both were delicious. I will be grabbing coffee from here again before heading back home.

The place itself is cute. VERY small so if you're trying to work remote or study I don't think this is the place. Definitely a crowded feeling, but cute. I got the baklava latte which really is only a baklava on top of a latte with honey drizzled on it. The coffee itself is delicious. I did enjoy it. It wasn't too sweet. I have also tried the tiramisu latte (both with oat milk) and that was good. Toppings were very sweet but coffee had a good taste and not too sweet. Service was great and everyone seemed happy to work here.

The drinks and vibe here were so fun! They updated to the spring menu while we were there and both matchas I got were very good and not milky.

Excellent croissant. I will go back as I can't stop thinking about it. I have a coffee and a croissant almost each and every day, and this is one I will be thinking about. I had an oat milk latte and it was very nice and perfect for the weather. I got down-pored on but I could have stayed in the nice seated areas in the cafe. Silly me. Take a peek at the layers so insane.

Dolphin Café quickly became our favorite spot in DC during our trip for the Marine Corps Marathon! Located conveniently near the White House, it's the perfect place to grab a coffee and a snack while exploring the city. From the moment we walked in, the café had a warm and inviting vibe, with friendly staff that made us feel right at home. The drinks and food were absolutely outstanding. I loved their matcha--it was smooth, perfectly balanced, and just the boost I needed. The banana bread latte was a deliciously unique treat, and the croissants were flaky, buttery, and fresh, easily some of the best we've had. Everything felt thoughtfully made and just full of flavor, which made every visit a real highlight of our mornings. Even when there's a long line, it's completely worth the wait. The café has a cozy atmosphere, and the anticipation makes the first sip and bite even more enjoyable. Overall, Dolphin Café is a must-visit for anyone in DC. Fantastic drinks, amazing pastries, a welcoming vibe, and a prime location near the White House make it a true gem. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town!

We fell for the trap of fun and unique drink flavors lol. The matcha did not taste like matcha. The baklava itself was good but the drink was just a regular vanilla? latte.

Smores Coffee + Ham and Cheese croissant

Decided to check this place out due to the positive reviews in comparison to other coffee locations in the area. When I look for a coffee shop I try to find places that typically has flavored coffees and not just the basic 3 syrups and 5 diff types of coffee preparations etc. This place did not miss on this, they had a huge selection including some seasonal options. We had the smores and Baklava coffees and for the food we had ham and cheese as well as the biscotti croissant. Customer service was on point in breaking down the different pastries that they offered as it was Turkish influenced. Despite the place being a little smaller, there is a center shared table and additional seats on the opposite sides for more space. Definitely recommended and would revisit when in town.

Insane cafe, im truly wow'd. They are true to their coffee and it wakes you up. I got the smores latte with reduced syrups as they do add a bit more, and they made it perfect! They are a class act. The cafe doesnt make you want to leave and im very interested in buying their merch as its 100% cotton. I will definitely try their tiramisu and baklava latte next and maybe add the mascarpone cold foam. The hot drinks are stellar and very worth the money. My friend said the same for the salted caramel-- a cafe that does the hard work for you in terms of flavor combinations is a cafe you pay for. Right now my #1 cafe in dc, close second is good doughnut and company near john hopkins as their black cat expresso is equally good as this place.

I recently went to Dolphin Cafe and got a Dubai Chocolate Latte and a Dubai Chocolate croissant. While extremely pricy even by DC standards, the latte and the croissant were both good. Dolphin Cafe also offers a discount for people with a federal ID, which is a nice benefit in DC.

Randomly stumbled upon this place as we were walking around the area. I love a good iced latte & this place offers unique/fun options. They have a seasonal spring menu that offered several options. We tried the baklava latte & hazelnut crunch latte. Both were delicious & flavorful with a good amount of flavor in both, & the drinks didn't have any artificial tastes as some other shops may have. Overall, glad we stumbled upon this yummy coffee shop!

Most recently went as a party of 4 and got the crab beignets, beef arepa, masa gnocci, and parillada for two. Crab beignets were our favorite - perfectly crispy and great flavor. Masa gnocci was a little overcooked this time but still yummy. Beef arepa is a classic dish to get at the royal; two people can easily share one arepa. Parillada was a hearty entree and probably best for 2-3 people. This amount of food altogether was just nice. We probably could have ordered one more thing to be extra full. I don't typically get Latin American food but love all the flavors at this restaurant. Next time will try their breakfast menu!

The ivy wrapping the entire exterior of the building is stunning -- it feels like the cafe grew right out of the earth itself. The garden is lush, intentional, and beautiful, and the grapevine patio pulls you in like you've stumbled onto a secret courtyard in the middle of the city. I rode the metro over an hour from Alexandria for this and the exterior alone told me the commute was worth it. The iced coffee delivered. The vibe inside is warm, neighborhood-cozy, and full of character. This place has a soul that most coffee shops spend years trying to manufacture. Four stars instead of five -- and here's my honest feedback with love. The outdoor seating is gorgeous but the trees overhead drop baby spiders constantly. I watched them land on my table, my drink, and my arm more times than I could count. The birds hopping onto tables scavenging for crumbs added to the chaos. For a patio this beautiful, the experience deserves better. The fix is already in the DNA of this place. Weaving lavender, peppermint, chrysanthemums, citronella grass, marigolds, and rosemary throughout the patio would naturally deter spiders and mosquitoes while making the garden even more breathtaking. The fragrance would become part of the experience. Big Bear Cafe is already special. The ivy, the garden, the coffee, the community energy -- it all works. A few intentional additions to the patio and this place is untouchable. I will absolutely be back.

Unlike most other coffee shops, they also have full service for folks who are dining in, so you can order from the QR code on your table instead of at the counter, and they'll bring your order out to you. I visited Bluestone around 4 PM in the afternoon, so it was a bit too late for coffee, but I love that they offer a wide selection of non-coffee drinks. I got their golden latte, which includes turmeric, almond milk, and a few other spices; it feels warm (both literally and figuratively) and is a lovely caffeine-free drink that helps me feel healthy as the weather gets colder. And to counterbalance any potential health benefits I might have gotten from the golden latte, I also got their chocolate chip cookie, which was massive -- almost the size of the plate they served it on. It was a solid cookie, slightly chewy but with a nice crust, although it was a bit lacking in chocolate chips. Bluestone is undoubtedly a rather pricey cafe, but I do love how quiet it is, so I'm sure I'll be making another visit the next time I need to be super productive.
