Honestly, after reading the reviews, I wasn't too confident I would even be able to eke on in for dinner, but my God was I able to get in, and thank the LORD I was able to find a parking spot with such a full lot of cars! What started as a solo trip to J Timothy's became a welcome table event when fellow Yelper Angie showed up with her husband and invited me over to their table. I'm SO glad we were able to have that happen! It became one of the best post-event dinners I've had yet. It did take a bit of time to decide between the three of us, but we eventually split our checks, with me taking care of my order and Angie taking care of the rest. We had Kate as a waitress, and might I say, she was not only nice and efficient, but she was very knowledgeable of the menu and very helpful and accommodating. I immediately requested a take-out box and she delivered just like that. She was even knowledgeable on what foods and such were made in-house and what wasn't, which is honestly very impressive! Also note, we all got to have a taste of everything that came in tonight, so we got lots of food to get to! We did have the wings for our appetizers. I did the 10-wing Dirt Style Honey BBQ Gold for mine, and they got I wanna say 20(?) Buffalo wings. They were cooked to perfection, and I was able to twist the bones off the flats. Both flavors were good, but even though it could possibly be my bias talking, I did prefer my flavor of wings. I will say the Buffalo had that signature spice level there, but it didn't overpower the wing, which is awesome! Oh, and there were also the potato skins which was rated perfectly, and that tasted really good as well. For the entrees, this is why I immediately requested the box. My order was the full rack of ribs. Angie got the chicken pot pie. Usually, I don't eat pot pies, but the one Angie ordered was honestly very good. Flaky, buttery crust top, and savory filling or chicken, potatoes, peas, etc. As for my ribs, whenever I tried to cut them, all the meat kept falling off the bone! That's how you know it was cooked properly! And dear God were these ribs were delicious, succulent, and delicious! Did I mention they were delicious? The BBQ sauce was a symphony of bliss that helped make each bite of rib taste like I went to Cloud Nine! The coleslaw it came with was good, but it's not something I would say can compete with the South. But good all the same. Drinks were great too. I got the Dragon Fruit Martini(?), and that was sweet and relaxing to have after a long summer and a long drive to Plainville. Oh, and we also got dessert! Again we picked different things: Angie ordered the "Not Fried Chicken" while I went with the Key Lime Pie. Wherever these guys get their key lime pie from, keep them coming and let me know so I can get some more myself! The raspberry sauce was a great choice for accompaniment and complimented the pie nicely. And the slice was divine! The Not Fried Chicken is a very innovative idea, and it tasted good as well. I can see now why this place gets so much love. It's insane how good this place is in just about every aspect! The sink did take a bit to learn, but that was about my only criticism, other than that this place easily gets 5 stars from me, and I am so glad to have had this dinner with Angie and meet her husband. #KeepYelping

We chose booth seating on the 2nd floor, which was cozy, and boasted a cool view of the downstairs area. For my beverage, I chose the Cherry mocktail, which was oh so fizzy, refreshing, and a nice mix of sweet and tart. We shared the Chili Dirt Wings and Fried Calamari. The Wings were fried twice and generously sauced. They were satisfyingly crispy and full of bold flavor with a bit of a kick. The Fried Calamari was light and crunchy. I had a tough time selecting my entree, but finally went with Taverne Grilled Meatloaf. This dish consisted of beef and pork meatloaf, loaded mashed potatoes, and mixed vegetables. The Meatloaf was cooked perfectly on the char-broiler, giving it a slightly smoky taste and bit of caramelization, then smothered in a tomato glaze. Meatloaf was delightfully tender and well seasoned. Loaded Mashed Potatoes was mouthwatering, covered in melty cheese, bacon, and scallions. Veggies included carrots, zucchini, squash and had a great consistency, adding a fresh element to the dish. For dessert, I had to get one of my favorites: Sticky Toffee Pudding. Their version was a moist, dense sponge Bundt cake with caramel sauce. It was decent, but overly sticky sweet even for me. Service was solid. Our waitress was welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu. Everything came out in a timely manner. If I return, I would want to try the Shepherd's Pie, Boneless Braised Short Ribs, or Pierogies and Kielbasa.

I wished it was a little spicier, but I am a spice fiend.Then I felt for something a little sweeter so I went with the Poolside gossip. All the different ingredients really combined into a unique and delicious flavor! I really enjoyed what they have going on. The space was comfortable and relaxed and there's something on their drinks menu for literally everyone, plus entertainment. Relic Brewing is a craft brewery that opened in Plainville, Connecticut in February 2012. It was…read morefounded by brewer Mark Sigman. Although his professional background was in advertising, Sigman had been an avid homebrewer since 1994. Eventually he decided to open his own brewery. Sigman chose the name "Relic" to reference his world travels. Aiming to craft artisanal ales inspired by flavors from around the world, he thought of himself as more of a chef than a brewer. Sigman doesn't brew beer based on which styles are trendy, but rather beers that he personally enjoys with tastes that he views as complimentary or exciting. I have visited Relic Brewing multiple times since I first became serious about craft beer in 2013. At that time, Relic was one of maybe 10 breweries in the state (today there are over 100). Of those original 10, only half remain in business. The taproom was very small during my initial visit: about 10 square feet and they only served small free samples. I recently stopped there with my older son because it occurred to me that I hadn't been there in at least 10 years. A lot had changed! In 2016, a full bar was added and Relic began to serve full pint pours as well as craft cocktails. A large back room addition opened in 2019, which featured a fully furnished lounge and a pinball arcade slowly evolved. When I first arrived, I ordered a taster flight which featured "Oktoberfest", "Nebraska IPA", "The Whim" (New England IPA), and "Double Whim" (Double New England IPA). I grabbed my flight and headed to the back room with my son. He was so excited to play the pinball machines and other various arcade games. The two of us had a nice father-son bonding experience playing pinball as I also enjoyed my beer samples; the "Oktoberfest" was my favorite! "Jessica" (her friends call her Jess, and she has alot of friends!) is actually bar manager along with bartending, and runs her own great karaoke on Wednesdays! This post of yours reads very uncultured and ill-mannered. Hey, there are 7 hours worth of singers signed up for 5 hours of bar time. Ya might not get up there every 5 minutes. And to generalize on "the musicias this bar hosts" to mask whining about karaoke is pretty pathetic. Just check how full the very large parking lot is by 10PM on any Friday. Yeah, come to think of it, I wouldn't want to go to a bar that tolerates gay bashes on the mic, and treats the karaoke list unfairly by letting people sing when they want instead of in a fair rotation. Thankfully, Zen Bar, and especially JT on the very busy Friday nights, plays no favorites, ensures that people don't get out of hand on the mic, and keeps things moving so 7 hours worth of singers can fit into 5 hours worth of time without too many people whining about it. Hopefully this provides a cultured counterreview for consideration. By the way, the bands here are top notch, too, including Prospect Hill, Electric Shoes, She Eats Planets, Soul Sound Revue, and many great local acts, sometimes 4 and 5 in a night. Another nice touch are the Happy Hour bands. Tuesday hosted Buzztime trivia is fun too, with great prizes that include concert and event tickets that you won't get anywhere else. I first walked in there about 2 weeks ago on my way home from work. I noticed the patio, so i went in and spoke with the owner, Giancarlo. It was my birthday on the 26th and i had briefly mentioned that to him and he instantly wanted to help make my birthday the best one i've had in years. We spent about 30mins working out a very affordable, yet tasty menu that he invited me to have a sample platter of. He even helped me invite people via social sites. Once that night was arranged everything was set up by the time i got there at 6pm and he fully accommodated every suggestion i had. The best thing was that since 10 of my friends showed up on my birthday, my personal tab was discounted by him! The regulars were cordial and the staff was excellent in every way, making sure my birthday party was a complete success. There was karaoke, pool tables and many tv screens so that i wouldn't miss 1minute of the games i was trying to watch. i also went there the next night to enjoy some local bands, which also added a great atmosphere. I couldn't finish writing a review without mentioning the thai-chili sauce, wow, that stuff is incredible! I definitely will go there again and have my friends go with me to get one of the patented "fruit loops" shot and the sampler platter. See you soon Zen Bar! read more

I love Zen Bar. I always have the best time when I go here. I love singing karaoke, watching others sing, dancing, doing shots, hanging out on the awesome patio, and drinking really strong mixed drinks all night. All of the staff are super friendly and fun, and the owner is a really sweet guy. I went for my birthday party and got all my drinks that night for free! I absolutely adore this bar. I wish I lived closer to Plainville so I could go more often. Even though it is about a 40 minute drive from my house, it is ALWAYS worth the trip! read more

I went to Zen Bar to see a buddy's band. I'm actually big fan of the band, but whoever arranged the sound in this bar has no clue what they're doing. It was loud and resonant, like sound crashing into itself all night. Did I mention LOUD? Then there was the food. The menu was impressive, I ordered a couple different items. The spicy foods tasted like vinegar, the other foods were just average. The ambiance is nice cozy , low -moderate lighting ( not to dim ..you can still read the menus without a flashlight... which is nice) We sat at the bar and the seats were very nice and comfortable ( which I enjoyed a lot) and spacious I didn't feel squeezed between chairs/people ! The bartender was fabulous . And made great drinks ! We just got drinks I got the peaches peaches which was pleasantly really good not to sweat or bitter , not to overpowering with peach flavour very well balanced . They also offer small bites / food. I will def be back to try some more options !

Went here on a Friday night to hear a great local band Back In The Day. We haven't been here…read morebefore but a friend who comes often for the daily specials and takeout suggested we try it. We had a great time. The staff was friendly and as they all go behind the bar to pour beer and drinks service was very fast since there's no waiting for one bartender to serve the whole place. We went early and had food before the band started. Chicken nachos. Very good. Coconut Shrimp. Very good Foot long Hummel hot dog Bacon cheeseburger and fries Cheeseburger snd fries Nothing fancy but the food was solid bar food. They do have specials during the week that are more of a full meal. Ie: pork cutlets, mashed potatoes, veggie, etc. It's an older place. Showing it's age in places just like me....but it's comfortable and friendly and the regulars are too. Give them a try when in the area. We will be back.

I have been aware of this lack of business responsibility for a number of years but have refrained from filing such a complaint on Yelp. I would hope that the owners would rectify this inadequacy and establish a more responsible platform with respect to consistently trying to get their customers drunk in order to increase their profits. When raising this concern with the owner in a respectable manner he cursed at me continuously in a vulgar manner.

What's behind the Green Door?…read more Well, I remember a song from my childhood called "Green Door" -it had a honky-tonk piano sound and I kind of remember it got some radio play in the early '60s. I also remember there was a porno movie named "Behind the Green Door". It was a big deal in 1972 and "starred" Marilyn Chambers -the Ivory Snow girl. Fast Forward to today. What's Behind the Green Door up in Collinsville, CT? A very nice restaurant known as the Green Door Restaurant. It's the house restaurant at Bridge Street Live - a music and entertainment venue on the Farmington River in the funky little town of Collinsville. We had dinner at the Green Door tonight and had a pretty favorable experience. We sat outside on the deck and enjoyed a pretty view of the River and enjoyed a singer and his acoustic guitar. So what kind of food might one find behind their Green Door? The menu had seven appetizers ranging from a $6 soup to an $18 Charcuterie Board, three salads ranging from $10 to $14 with a protein add-on between $8-$10 more, five sandwiches with a side for $13 or $14, six personal pizzas ($10-$15), and eight entrees ranging from $14 - $34. We shared a Hummus platter ($10) served with pita wedges, grape tomatoes, carrot and celery sticks, and broccoli florets. The hummus with Roasted Red Pepper was very good, the veggies were cold and crisp, and the pita bread was soft and warm. Not a bad value for ten bucks, but the actual amount of hummus wasn't very generous. I ordered one of the entrees - a Seared Sesame Ahi Tuna Bowl for $18. It was a big serving of six tuna slices with red quinoa & buckwheat, maybe two dozen crispy chickpeas, shaved carrots, sliced avocado, and arugula with a herb lemon dressing. The dish tasted great and was a pretty good value, considering the large serving. We also ordered a Reuben Sandwich ($14) of shaved corned beef, Thousand Island dressing, house made sauerkraut, and Fontina cheese, on Marbled Rye. The sandwich tasted great (especially the bread) but the weak link was the quantity of corned beef - not nearly enough. My Diet Coke $3 and that price speaks for itself -it was high. Our modest dinner ran around $47 (after tax) and I didn't really feel our overall value was there. Yes, the view was nice, the service was friendly, and the menu was varied. If you're attending a show at Bridge Street, it does make a lot of sense to eat here as a convenience. Otherwise, I'm not really convinced to go through that Green Door again.

My wife and I visited last night and we had a great experience. The speakeasy atmosphere is stylish…read moreand cool, and the recent remodel really elevated the space. Our waitress was friendly and attentive--she checked in regularly and kept our water glasses full without ever being intrusive. Both the food and drinks were excellent, and the pricing felt very fair for the quality. We're already looking forward to coming back. I looked for a menu online before we went and since the it's a new speakeasy restaurant, I didn't see one. I took a picture of the menu and I'll post it up.

We loved both entrances, loved the menu and loved feeling like we were "in" on the secret. My family is hard to impress and we all agreed we would come back in the future.
