We went in because we were accommodated for a quick/asap appointment. My husband and I needed a massage. These ladies were amazing, they adjust the pressure per your requirements/needs and tolerance. They do you well. Not in a hurry at all. Except when an hour is over, they will leave where ever they are. But they do whatever they could to the best. They took out multiple knots in our backs. We tipped them well, and didn't know about min tip amount until writing a review. I'd advise having a 90 mins massage. And I highly recommend this place. Very convenient to get to. Right on RT. 130 in East Windsor. It was so so good. The massage lasted 60 minutes, not 45 like a lot of places that advertise an hour. Loved that the session ended with hot towels and a scrub down to get the lotion off. My only suggestion would be to bring your own headphones so that you can really immerse yourself in the relaxation. Lastly, the reclining chairs are just ok, nothing to call home about. read more

I went today for a signature facial with a gift card I was given prior to everything shutting down for Covid. The women there do not speak or understand English, the woman who claimed to be an interpreter, refused to accept my gift card telling me it expired. Could not speak to a manager. The treatment doors were open with only a curtain separated from the open space. Very noisy Chinese conversations, you hear the phone ringing and the conversations. I could hear other clients talking from other treatment rooms which were obviously without doors closed. Not a relaxing ambiance by far. In my never ending search for excellent massage to help calm my lumbar/sacral spine, I visited Zen Body Works in East Windsor, NJ yesterday. This is a very comfortable place. The tones are deep and dark. The furnishings mellow and attractive. The staff cordial, and dressed in appropriate massage uniforms. Time and thought went into the design elements here. My private room was warm and had a more substantial feel than many of the half wall cubicles I have reclined in. My little secret is that I studied Shiatsu for several years and intended to become a healer before settling on law. So, when someone touches me, I know almost immediately their skill level and their sensitivity to body energies. The difference of a quarter inch or quarter pound of pressure can be critical to releasing the knots (chi) that causes dis-comfort and dis-ease. My therapist, Lisa, knew all the moves, had the strength and subtle touch to find mine quickly. Through a combination of Deep Tissue, Shiatsu and Swedish techniques, she moved around my head, neck, shoulders, back and legs, using her hands, forearms, knees and even her feet as she walked across my back pushing, probing, digging, scraping, and stretching me. She was efficient and did not wander. She saw the map on my body and followed it with precision. Impressive. The price at $50 an hour, or $85 for 90 minutes, was better than expected. 20% tip is normal, paid directly to the therapist. More is appropriate when particularly satisfied. The only negatives were the extra charge for using credit (not cool), and the almost total lack of interaction with me as she worked. She was so focused that she may have forgotten there was a person attached to that spine. read more

Foot massage was mediocre at best. At the end I tipped $8 on a $40 foot massage which to me is generous because it is 20%. They told me I had to tip $10, at that point I giggled thinking they weren't serious but they were. I politely said unfortunately that's not how this works, and signed my statement and left. A massage place were you go to relax should not have a screeching parrot onsite. No matter what room you are in you can hear this bird that screeches non-stop. The reflexology session that I had was 2 stars but the screeching bird made me so tense that I left needing a massage! Zen is an affordable massage with staff that typically can deliver the level of strength you ask for. (As expected there is typically some turnover in masseuses.) 2 things keep this from being 5 star. A) Owners should truly keep an English speaking person at the desk. English / Chinese (to help deliver customers' requests to the masseuses) would be ideal. It is easy to recommend Zen Body Works but one must do so with a qualifier: Making reservations is difficult sometimes (harder over the phone...) due to the language barrier. B) If Zen becomes busy ... your massage may be interrupted. One because of the noise but two, inexcusably, as distressed staff opens your massage room to hand the phone to your masseuse. Unlike many spa`s, this place is very clean and everything inside is new and well designed. The moment you walk in you immediately begin to feel more relaxed between the soft music and the pleasant ambiance. The girls are very polite and well trained. Went today. Great front desk service, but I was SO DISAPPOINTED in the treatment I received by the massage therapist. My initial intention was to get a ten minute massage so I grabbed $3 cash and stuffed it in my pocket. When I got in, I decided to go for 30 minutes and put the cost and 20% tip on my credit card. Even though I did not find the therapist friendly, I felt better. I decided I'd give her the $3 cash, PLUS the 20% on my card. When I passed her the cash and started towards the front to pay, she said the tip wasn't enough. Of course, she could not have known my intentions, but it was the rudest experience I have ever had. I took back the cash. Instead of leaving her with the $9 tip I had intended, I only put an additional $3 on my card. I will NOT be going back.Extremely disappointing. I received a gift card as a gift for this Spa. I decided to use it recently as I had a terrible pain in my neck after a bad night's sleep. I called to make the appointment 2 days prior to the appointment date and that went smoothly. I arrived 5 minutes prior to my appointment and was taken immediately to one of the massage rooms. The ambiance was nice and inviting. The room even had a fireplace heater. That is where the pros ended. The massage started off ok however, the lady who was doing my massage was called to answer the phone and left me to get it; however, she left me half way exposed, I had to cover myself up as she was rushingout of the room! Luckily she was only gone for about 2 minutes but that was just enough time to break the tranquillity of the massage and the experience. Since my neck was hurting, she asked me if I minded her spending more time massaging my neck and shoulder blade areas because she felt tension etc. there. Of course I agreed. What I didn't agree to was the pain that I felt during the massage. I kept saying "ouch" and showed signs of pain to which she assured me that I would feel better when she was done. Well at the end of the massage, I felt worse! My neck felt better but now my shoulder blades were hurting so bad that anything that when I sat in any chair and leaned back, I was completely sore. In fact it has since been 2 days and post massage and I'm still hurting and not hurting in a good way. When I was leaving, I gave her the gift card for her to take the payment from. I completely was about to forget to give her a tip (even though I wasn't pleased with the service I was still going to tip her). She noticing that I was about to leave said to me "you forgot tip." I was shocked! Since when was tipping mandatory to the point that someone TELLLS you that FORGOT to tip. I was so appalled. I apologized then took a $5 bill to tip her (the massage was $50). She looked at the money, back up to me then said, "the tip is 20%, $10 will be fine". I couldn't believe this woman. You can't tell me HOW MUCH to tip especially since I didn't like the service. I think I might have scoffed then handed her an additional $5 to her. Needless to say I will NEVER return to this place nor would I recommend it to anyone....ever. read more
