I really love this place. Its very clean with nice workers. I've been here twice and received great care each time. The employees were very knowledgeable in their trade and answered all my questions. The first time I came I just got a simple color change on my toes, no massage due to pregnancy. It has been about four weeks and they still look good. Then today I got the nexgen nails for the first time and I have to say I love them! First I would say the place is very nice and relaxing. First time visiting and being open on Sunday is a life saver. I work on my feet for at least 10 hrs a day and was looking forward to a nice massage. I have no idea where or how this place went bad, I used to go here all the time. My husband always got me gift cards to this location and being that I had one from valentines I finally decided to use it May 21st 2015. I was the very first customer of the day that morning, went in for a pedi and a gel mani! They have a nice selection of colors which may have been the only good thing about this place. Two women worked on me at the same time, and the entire time they spoke to each other in their native tongue gossiping about a relative of theirs (they paused for a moment and told me in English) at first I didn't mind but they literally talked to each other the entire time! The TV was not even on for me to try and distract myself from their conversation, mind you I couldn't even look at my phone or a magazine because the other women was doing my mani at the same time as the pedi. If they had payed more attention to my hands and feet perhaps they could have done a better job! It's been only a week and my gel mani has already began to CHIP from the tip of my finger, & my previous purple toe nail polish was not completely taken all the way off and u can see it on the sides because she didn't even apply the new nail polish all over the toes, and what she did apply came out all streaky! I've been coming here with my mother for over a decade, and we both have for the most part had great experiences. My mother wanted me to start getting my eyebrows waxed here around when I was 12, and I was scared out of my mind at first. They always do a great job, and I can always trust Cindy with my eyebrows as I've been getting them done here mostly with her for the 9 years since. I have tried to tip a certain amount but she wouldn't take that much money because she didn't want me spending that much for her. I've been getting my nails done at Zen Nails (on Beach Street in Fort Worth, TX) for a couple of years. In the last year I've switched from gel nails to dip nails. They offer many great color options, and my nails are longer and stronger now. If you're doing acrylic or gel, you may want to give dip a try! The person who regularly does my nails strives for perfection. She does her best to satisfy every reasonable request. Although some of the staff do not speak very much English, there has always been 1 or 2 staff members present who speak English when I've been in the salon. They can assist with any communication gap. The salon is cleaner than many shops I've visited in the past. Their extended hours (open 7 days a week) accommodate almost every schedule. I like that they offer a card that gives their regular customers a credit after a certain number of visits that meet the dollar limit. Most salons only offer a discount to students and new customers. It's nice to be appreciated as a regular customer! I'm giving Zen Nails an overall rating of 4 stars. As it is with every business, there is always room to grow! read more

When under the lamp the technician asked me if everything was ok. I said no and explained then the technician said but the nails look good. I explained again. I have been going to Michelle for a while now but I've never really written a review for her or Zen Nails & Spa. So... I have absolutely nothing at all but good to say about the work that she does! I have never had a bad experience or any kind of extended wait. If I ever had to wait, it was never more than 10-15 minutes. And I don't mind because I know that Michelle is doing as good job on someone else as she does on mine! She has done holiday designs or just polish, but her nail art is always great and I get many many great comments about them. She just did Valentines hearts on mine last week! In hopes of finding my regular nail place I came here to give it a try. I got a full set of acrylics and it was $20(pretty cheap) he did a pretty good job, they look a little uneven but that happens. The downside... Around 5pm I walk in to only one other client there and that's the prime time for nail places to be busy. I looked past it because I was taken care of quickly. The nail tech doesn't say anything to me the entire time even when I flinch because he hurt me trying to file my nails. It was awkward because I even tried to speak to him about my nails and he replied with nothing back. Another worker was napping in a pedicure chair and the towel on the nail station was dirty. My nails did turn out okay but the atmosphere was awkward and did not make me feel welcomed. This was the worst experience I have ever had. I was there almost 4 hours. I went for a pedicure and full set. After my pedicure that I had no issues with I was told to wait which took over 30 minuets to even start my nails. And when they did they stopped working on me to start on someone else. They were going back and fourth between me and another customer the whole time and 3 different people ended working on my nails throughout the entire time. What should had only took no more than 2 hours of my time tops took double that. I am satisfied with the look of my nails but highly disappointed in the experience. I am one uphappy lady. Christmas pictures tomorrow, and the nail lady asked what I wanted..I explained exactly. short as possible, lots of white & very little pink. What did i get ...Nails that look like a urban stripper all pink, and very little white. When told that it's not what i wanted the lady (who knew i was on my lunch break from opening conversation) suggested we start over... ARE YOU kIDDING ME!? This used to be my go to place but not anymore. They have sold and there are all new people there for the most part. Several of the massage chairs are broken. I pay for the pedicures that have more massage and a wet fish could have done better. One day I was there and one of the male techs actually has his shoes off sitting in one of the chairs a customer would sit in and has his feet propped up in another chair that customers sit in. I brought my 93 year old motherinlaw in for a manicure and because I am male and have no idea what the cost would be was taken advantage of by the salesman, He brought over some nails of different colors and asked her what color she liked and then told me 30 dollars for the manicure. I thought that was kinda expensive to clip and paint nails so I looked up there website for prices because there are no prices listed anywhere in the salon. I quickly found manicures starting at 7 dollars so I approached him again and asked him about these prices. He told me I had to pick from some cheaper nail polish and the price would go down. So for 20 dollars she got the cheaper nail polish, a nail clipping, some body lotion for her arms and a hot towel to wipe off the lotion and that was the deluxe manicure. I think if I had it all to do over again just get the basic polish and clipping for 7 dollars the lotion and hot towel are not worth 13 dollars. Be sure to know the prices going in or you may be taken to the cleaners. read more

Warning, long rant...I came in on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30 and was the only patron in the place. Picked out my colors, they were very nice from the beginning, showing me the way the dip color would look on my actual nail and finding a match for my pedi. Water was a great temp and I was looking forward to relaxing. Neither nail tech spoke to me, which was fine, until 4 other patrons walked in. Then they started to rush since they only had 3 people working. 3 more ladies came in so they start rushing it more. He didn't even massage my feet or legs, he rubbed the hot stones on my legs with no pressure for about 45 seconds each leg. Then I had asked the lady doing my nails to give me a manicure before she used the dip and all she did was cut down my cuticles. I told her how I wanted them shaped 3 times and she ignored me until I took the nail file and showed her how I wanted them done. The other woman working told me she was deaf and that's why she didn't hear me? (But she said thank you when I said bless you bc she sneezed) They tried to charge me 90$ total for the dip manicure and "specialty" pedicure and I said no, I never received a manicure so she took 5$ off. I've been getting my nails done consistently every 3 weeks since I was 15 and I understand being understaffed. But I would warn others against spending your hard earned money here. I recently moved back over to this area but will have no problem driving 45 minutes to Nails and Beyond on Hulen St because they are honestly the best at their craft and actually ask you how you want your nails shaped and all of the other fine details. I'm also aware this is "first world problems" but I work hard for 40+ hours a week, I have one day off and just wanted to relax and feel pampered. read more

Zen? Far from it. I went there today for a relaxing pedicure. Unfortunately, a group of loud and obnoxious people came in at the same time. The leader of the group appeared to be a good friend of the owner, which probably explains why the group's bad behavior was tolerated. The group brought in food and drinks and walked around the salon eating and drinking. They also proceeded to talk to each other from across the salon and even stood over other customers to continue their conversations. The manager/owner did nothing to alleviate these issues despite the fact that it was brought to her attention. She said "there was nothing she could do." Never again will I waste my money to get services in this "salon." If they don't care about all of their customers, they aren't worth my time. read more
