Thought I had found my new "place", but won't go back after today. I never leave this kind of post, but felt I had to this time. Three weeks ago I got a dip French manicure and regular pedicure for my wedding. It was my first time getting dip nails and I was so impressed with their professional service and the quality of work. The place was clean and comfortable and they seemed to have several regulars there at the same time. The manicure was absolutely perfect and held up so well. However when I went back today to have the dip nails removed, I ended up greatly disappointed with the professionalism of their service. I thought they might be less busy on a Monday, but they were still busy. They asked if I could wait 15 minutes as a walk in and that was no problem. Not being familiar with the process of having nails removed and trusting that they would provide a professional service, based in great part on their good Yelp reviews, I was a little surprised when the tech clipped the ends of the nails then used a loose acrylic nail to wedge between the dip and my natural nail to pry them off. Thinking this must somehow be normal, I went along, even though it seemed rough and was uncomfortable. Then, while trying to pry off the last one on my left thumb, she was too aggressive and tore my natural nail down into the nail bed, and said a quick, "sorry". Still thinking this was somehow normal and that "these things happen". She filed and lightly buffed them, added some cuticle oil, and then had me wash my hands. I paid the $10 fee and left a $5 tip. Once I got I in my car I just kept thinking that process could not be right. Sure enough when I looked online, it isn't and every site says that approach damages your nails. In thinking back, the tech seemed to be in a rush to get to another client who was getting mani-pedis with her daughter (dip for her and gel for her daughter). I would gladly have paid much more than $15 for her to have done it correctly and not to have torn my nail! read more

I went in Saturday morning to get a gel manicure. I asked for matte black, when my nails came out of the curing machine they were all all bumpy looking under the top coat so she took them off and realized the gel hadn't cured she rushed and "fixed" them but they were worse than before & I had an appointment so I couldn't stay any longer. As the day went on I could feel the wet gel moving under the top coat and at one point the gel just peeled back. This photo was taken 5 hours after my gel manicure. They were already starting to peel and you can tell the paint is still wet. I ended up going to another salon & paying to have them removed. It's unfortunate that I paid $45 for nails that didn't even last a day. read more

I've been here 4 times now. Each experience has been different, so I feel that consistency is an issue. I've been twice around midday on a weekday, and twice on a late Saturday afternoon. Each time I've gone on a weekday, I've had a good experience. The salon technicians have taken their time, are thorough, patient, polite, and friendly, and I leave having had a nice, relaxing experience. My last experience on a Monday lunch break was awesome. I now get a natural mani & pedi combo. I enjoyed the entire experience and felt welcomed. The two times I've been on a late Saturday afternoon (around 5:30PM or 6PM), I've felt rushed. The technicians did not take their time and I left feeling as though they were hurrying up to ensure that the shop could close promptly at 7pm. If a business needs to stop taking walk-ins by a certain time to ensure that it closes promptly, then that's what they should do as opposed to creating an atmosphere in which a customer feels hurried. Every time I've been here, the salon has been clean and odor free. I also appreciate the complimentary beverage and competitive pricing. There's always plenty of parking in the lot. I think this salon is worth your money and time as long as you go during "off peak" hours. read more

The service here was alright! I got the second tier pedicure and they skipped the calf massage which was kind of a bummer. I would have gotten the less expensive one if I didn't want that. The manicure was alright but felt rushed and she made me feel like I was annoying her at a couple points. I did walk away with pretty toes and decently pretty fingernails, though she definitely messed up a bit on one of them. It was fine. I have been to this salon many times. I've been pleased with the mini's except for this last one combined w/ a pedi. The pedi was the worse. The last time I was there the tech cut into my skin twice. The 2nd time I screamed out in pain. I should have got up and left. The worse was the owner was there and I know she had to have heard me scream but she didn't bother coming over. Every nail tech glanced my way and the other clients. I can't seem to find a nail salon that takes their time, can understand English enough to follow instructions or to care about their clients. My tolerance level is high and I'm usually an easy going person. That being said, it irks me that I have to even give this place ONE star. I've been coming to Kay's for about a year now. Today, I had an appointment at 6pm. I was 8 mins late in traffic due to construction around their area. When I came in to see my girl I noticed she'd just started putting tips on a new persons nails. I'm told that I'll be waiting a minimum of 25 minutes which is a lie nails take 1hour per person, roughly. I'd already waited an hour in order to get my nails done for last appointment of day but now expected to wait even longer because I'm 8 minutes late.. yet I've never missed an appointment and very rarely late. Pretty unbelievable. No apology, nothing! I work in healthcare, I'm tired! For me to wait an hour after getting off work in order to get my nails done... make an appointment and then to deal with this.. I cannot recommend. read more

Today was my first time here and I will definitely be back. I got the signature pedicure ($35) and that included all the normal pedicure stuff like trimming, cutting, heel scrubbing, painting etc .... plus parrafin wax, hot towels, and a 10 minute massage. BUT this was the first time in my many years of getting pedicures that I actually enjoyed the foot/ leg massage I was given. Usually it seems like they rush through that part in a hurry and it's not at all relaxing - but this massage was actually enjoyable. Score! In addition to that - they didn't cut my nails too short. Don't you hate when that happens? Me too. Not here though. :) This is the most important thing though - they are CLEAN. Before she filled the water basin up with water, she put a plastic liner in the basin and turned on the water. I saw her remove the tools from a sealed plastic bag. And I saw them scrubbing down the work areas. I definitely appreciate that... last thing I need is some toe nail fungus from someone's skanky feet. ;) The atmosphere is also pleasant - they have lots of chairs!! They also have a good polish selection. At the checkout, the manager asked me about my experience and seemed to geuinely care that I was happy. I recommend them for sure :) read more

Honestly the worst manicure I've ever gotten. "Snow" not only cut me twice, but I paid $40 and walked out looking like I let my 5 year old paint my nails. She didn't even clean the gel off of my thumb! Absolutely awful. She apologized for cutting my thumb because it was literally dripping blood even after she used the gel that was supposed to stop bleeding, but did not discount the service or anything. There's no way she couldn't have seen how bad this was. I will not return here again. I'm not one to leave bad reviews or make a scene, but this was just horrible and painful.
