I have been home on disability for a little over a month. I'm going back to work next week and my doctor suggested that I do some things for myself so I figured why not get a massage.? I googled massage in my area, and it just seemed to me that quite a few other places were more about "Fluff" massages meaning they seemed more of an atmosphere and a higher price. I haven't really had success with those types of places in the past. Yes, of course it's relaxing, but I need some thing for pain management. I saw this place and I knew exactly where it was. I read some of the reviews and figured let me just give it a try. The price was extremely fair for 60 minutes it was $60.. When I arrived, I was a little taken aback because it really could use some updating. It didn't look dirty, but it was very outdated, dark and dingy but I figured like I said, I'm not paying for decorations I'm paying for a massage. . I went into a room and a massage that are person entered. She was amazing. She kept checking on me throughout the massage to make sure that the pressure she was applying wasn't hurting me and when I tell you, her hands worked magic I'm one of those people that is always stressed out and don't really know how to relax but she had me feeling like Jell-O. I've been coming for massage in this place every month. Easy to make an appointment. Most of the masseuses massage with hard pressure. You have to informed them what kind of pressure do you want and if you have any achines parts of your body. The place is clean. They all very nice. They have only one good masseuse Lila, the rest of them change every day. My biggest problem is with the owner, like other people said, when you call they tell you that they close at 10, when you get there little after 8 they are closed. If you get there at 7:30 and want 60 or 90 minutes, they get you in and have 2 girls do half ass massage for 30 or 45 minutes. When I went a week later I complained to the owner and told him that he owes me a discount and a good massage and he said OK, then he gave me a new girl that didn't do a good massage and at the end he charged me a full price and plus they wanted a $20 tip on top. I have to say I was a little skeptical at first when I walked in. I needed a deep tissue massage and was referred to by a friend. I have to say - if you are in need for deep tissue massage and are good with a "causal" environment, look no further. Nothing fancy, but wow they do an amazing job. I love hard/firm pressure, because I think there is nothing worse than a massage without them working out your knots. The masseuse kept checking in to make sure the pressure was okay, which I appreciate. There have been so many times when I get off the table annoyed, and this was not one! One of the things I liked about it here, was they allow walk ins. I called in advance, but sometimes I'm randomly in the mood for a good massage! If you feel the same on a whim, give this place a try. They also have foot massage chairs in the front if you want a quick foot massage. So 2 things to take into consideration before coming here. $10 -$15 Tip is REQUIRED and the oil may cause itchiness. When paying my bill I gave my lady a tip, she then came and told the boss that it was too little. The boss told me I should give at least $10-$15 for her hard work. I completely understand the tipping culture and it would make sense if this was a waiter minimum wage etc. But this is a private business, if they believe that she is working hard then they should pay her appropriately instead of relying on customers to do so. And honestly paying $15 tip wasn't even the problem, I just wished that they advertised their tip requirements and I thought telling a customer that their tip was too small was rude and unprofessional. Also when getting my massage I felt a crazy amount of itching on my back. I thought it was just due to having that area touched but since having the massage my body has been itchy all over which I believe is due to the lotion they use. I could be allergic to some of the ingredients in the lotion. It's been 2 days and I'm still having itchiness. The only reason I gave it a 2 star was because I was greeted upon entering, they offered me water and it was very easy to make a same day appointment (there's probably a reason for that). You can tell how strong or light you want it and what hurts. At the end I always feel like "newborn" and I only wish I can have more time to come often. When i first came to the store i wasn't really expecting much because afterall this in Wayne. But the girl (which i forgot her name) had actually surprised me with her hand strength. She looks tiny and small which i thought 'oh it's gonna be a bad one or boney experience..' but it was not at all. She did a wonderful job to take out all my knots. I called Zen Spa to make 2 massage appointments for my husband & I. I asked what time they closed at night & I was told 10pm. I asked if they could accommodate both of us at 8:30 & she said yes. We got there at 8:15 the door was locked but the lights were on. We knocked, called... Nothing. We went to Walgreens & came back at 8:30... Same thing. I went in for a massage at Zen a few weeks back.. and i gotta say it was awesome! Ive been to other places near by like massage envy and another place on hamburg and although I do enjoy the chain sometimes the therapists are just not for me.. But the therapists at Zen really work out your problem areas if you let them know where youre tense or have issues anywhere... The workers there arent that great at english but if youre patient and just talk it through with them you wont regret going.. they have things like salt scrubs for exfoliation and reflexology and just massage... after the session they bring out some cake and fruit with some tea or wine of your choice as a complimentary perk which was awesome! I used this coupon I found online for them it was only $45 bucks an hour!! which is really a steal compared to the other places nearby going at $100/hr great place to go with friends and or loved ones.. after massages you can sit outside on a nice day and enjoy a ice cream from carvel! really great place to try out... read more
